Description of Work: I have a an enclosed patio that has become our family room. The roof has a very small airspace and dark brown roofing material. As a result the heat buildup in summer is substantial and causes the air conditioner to operate more frequently. I decided to research reflective roof coating and settled on a white coating made by Henry's and sold at Home Depot. I bought the 4.75 gallon bucket for $93 along with a long handled roller and an oversized paint roller pan. I called Chris at Shamrock Handyman and made an appointment for him to come and do the painting in the morning when it was not too hot to paint. He arrived at 8:30 a.m. and was soon applying the roof coating. I had hosed off the rood surface the night before so his prep was minimal. He completed the first coat and waited about an hour before before beginning the second coat. When he finished we both were shocked that the new painted surface was cool to the touch whereas the unpainted roof was too hot to hold your hand on. The result is very impressive, with the temperature gain inside the room now about equal to the rest of the house with attic air space.

+ -1 moreChristopher arrived punctually, was friendly, helpful and courteous, took care of jobs with great results and minimum fuss, and explained all that he was doing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services. Smart, and efficient, and a nice person too.
Description of Work: Several windows fixed (new fixtures replaced so the windows could be wound open), the toilet fixed so that the flush filled properly, and woodwork added to patch rotting boards on exterior of studio.

+ 0 moreChristopher did quality work at a fair price, within the estimate that we had agreed too. He's a very pleasant guy who communicates well about the work needed, providing progress reports as the work was being performed. Appropriate clean up was performed. I am happy to have gotten the needed work done as well as to have identified a local resource who can provide general handyman services when I next need them.
Description of Work: I needed a moderate amount of of masonry repair to fix loose tiles and bricks on a couple of exterior stairways at my house. I got a referral to Christopher from Baller Hardware in Silver Lake. I called him and was quickly able to arrange a time for him to come to my home and give me an estimate. Within a few days Christopher performed the work and was also able to to evaluate a nagging roof leak which he did some patching on. The work took place over two days, one to prepare the brickwork and re-set the tiles and a then a return visit the next day to apply mortar to the bricks.

+ 1 moreThis guy is so nice! Not creepy to have around, but communicative and friendly. His work is incredible - he said he'd built decks before, and that is very obvious, he knows what he's doing and this deck and fence he has built me is rock solid and gorgeous. No cutting corners by this guy, either, to save himself trouble. No way, he did everything the best, most solid way, and the job still didn't cost me an arm and a leg. I've paid a lot more to get a lot less done from oddball, late, or not-show-up types. He was on time (sometimes even a little early) and always did exactly as he said he would, or better. I trusted him in my house while I was outside and he was hanging doors and stuff; he's just really great. Like I would send him to my mom's house, that kind of great. And I have neighbors stopping by to ask who he was (he said hi to them outside), and to get his number for their work. The fence and deck look that good. (And he didn't think I was lame for asking him to hang a little shelf from Ikea either :)
Description of Work: This handyman built a custom deck for me, and fenced the yard. He also did interior door hanging, and shelves.
