The worst! 1. Job was not well done and did not pass first inspections. I still have wires running all over my attic. 2.Offended me multiple times about my personal life. I was not treated with respect. 3. Left cigarette butts on floor inside and outside of the house. 4. Would not take responsibility for issues. 5. They paid to remove my review from yelp. I paid a big price and should have been treated much better.

They had to remove some drywall and when they replaced it the screw they used pinched the wiring behind the wall which is now causing my AC/Heating central system to short out. I'm having to have another provider fix this problem. They took the expensive bathroom fan I had purchased and installed a cheaper model from a completely different brand.
Description of Work: I hired SDS to do several things. They installed some can lights, replaced a bathroom fan, replaced a switch and plug, and cut open the walls to repair some wiring.

We were surprised to find that the electricians installed two "pull boxes" to accommodate the new panel needing to be moved away from our existing gas lines (36 inches minimum from any electrical panel). We did not know that these pull boxes were part of the plan, nor did the DWP contact who met with the electricians. The work was done in the time expected and was done well.
Description of Work: We upgraded our electrical panel from a 200 amp to a 400 amp panel (the new panel needed to be relocated), had a nema 14-50 plug installed for an electric vehicle and a conduit run for a future nema 14-50 plug.

I have been using these guys for years to do small services on my rental condo. Everything has always been great. But I just hired them for a larger job on my single family home. I am very displeased. I don't know where to start but I will try: What I had done was have a second service panel installed in my garage because my husband wanted a "man cave" to do his artwork. 1. They ran a large cable from the roof top of my house to the roof top of the garage. This cable hangs quite low, and goes underneath a large banana plant that regularly has falling branches in wind storms. I have a colony of possums and raccoons that swing from anything they can find. this cable being so low hanging, just seemed so vulnerable. The cable also runs just 2 feet above the top of a "freestanding" vinyl pergola I have. And It just looked like they could almost touch. I kept hammering to the sales rep with repeated phone calls and text that I wasn't ok with this. . His workers just kept doing the work even though I asked them to stop until we cleared this up with. The representative insisted "this was the only way it could be done". And that it would all be fine. That the banana tree wasn't an issue, and that the vinyl pergola wasn't an issue. When the city inspector came The work they did, actually all passed with just a couple of corrections. But that said, both city inspectors that came took me me in private and said. "I'm going to pass this, but this was not a good way to do it". The inspector commented being I have a freestanding pergola underneath the cable, that is ok because the pergola it's a movable structure. But if I should ever decide to build a permanent wood pergola, I will not be able to because the cable is too low and not enough clearance. Also, the inspector commented that my main circuit panel at the house now also needed to be upgraded to support the flow of the second panel in the garage. But the way they crammed in all the tubing and conduits will not allow room for a larger panel, so probably everything will have to be repositioned. I spoke to the sales rep about all this stuff and I asked him why didn't he advise me from the beginning that I needed to also upgrade my main panel before even considering a second one for garage. I brought up that the low hanging cable is restricting to any garden pergola additions, And he simply responded that they are only hired to do the worked that is asked of them, but not project any future work the client needs or and that it was my responsibility to tell him I probably needed a larger main circuit panel....I am a homeowner, not an professional electrician. How the **** am I supposed to know that my main panel is week. It's the responsibility of the electrician to point this stuff out. It's like having a person put tile on your floor but neglect to tell you your subfloor is rotting, and putting new tile is just a waste of money. they just don't care! Homeowners don't ask because they don't know! He was already there, why didn't he give me other options. The most insulting this was that when I continued to stress that I really didn't like the overhead low hanging cable, he finally in an exasperated voice said "Lady, I know the overhead cable isn't the best way, the right way to have done this was to go a couple of feet deep with an underground electrical conduits. ," That is what I should have done? So I ask "then why didn't you proposes we do that?" He never proposed to run conduits underground, this is the first time I hear of this. . Yes maybe I wuld have been more work, and I would had to wait a little bit to get my bearings before committing to having my concrete patio cut up. Yes it will have probably cost me twice as much. But I would have been a penny wise pound foolish situation because now we actually have to retrofit the work they did to make room for a new main house breaker and who knows, maybe even go underground. What really upset me is there was no personal attention. the rep comes in, gives you a quick estimate, and the next day an army of guys comes in and starts the work.

Not acceptable. They had an offer on Angie's list to install a Level 2 electric car charger for $350. I read the fine print before purchasing. When they showed up, they told me that it would cost an extra $100 because my charger needed more than a 30 amp breaker. I would have been okay if they had wanted to charge more if, say, a panel upgrade was required, or running the line was particularly long or difficult, etc. (there was indeed fine print about the max line length), but for them to show up and say that their offer is only for Level 2 chargers on breakers under 30 amps is kind of ridiculous when there is nothing in the offer fine print about this. I was annoyed enough by the bait-and-switch tactics that I did not have them do the work.

I was at work when they came and my wife was at home. They inspected the breaker box and said the problem wasn't there, that they had to do a "Troubleshoot of the system" to see where the problem was. The fee for the "system troubleshoot" is $255 and would take a couple of hours or more. My wife called me and, surprised as I was that they had to troubleshoot the whole system, I still agreed to it for safety and because I needed the problem solved. So, once agreed, they proceeded with the work. Well, surprise surprise, they start to troubleshoot the system by opening the outlet that had the short circuit and DING DING DING... you guessed it, the problem was there! So they replaced that oulet, flipped the breaker switch again and power was back. They tested a couple of outlets that were powered by that breaker and replaced the other outlet that had to be replaced. As per my wife, they were extremely polite, professional, and effective in their work. As of myself, yes, they did a good job, but I believe I was ripped off as a "system Troubleshoot" was not necessary when it was obvious where/what the problem was. That, I find to be completely unprofessional.
Description of Work: I called in asking for same day service as we have a baby in the house and needed the issue to be resolved the same day. They accommodated my schedule for later in the day for a $95 emergency fee. That's fair. Let me start by saying, I am no electrician, but... When I called, I specifically explained that there was a short in one of the outlets when I plugged in the vacuum cleaner which made the breaker trip and took out electricity in most of the kitchen and fridge. I told them I needed someone to come and most likely replace the breaker and to OBVIOUSLY replace the outlet where the short happened as there would obviously be a problem with the wiring. I mean, not knowing much about the craft, this is an obvious thing. I also needed another outlet replaced, but that's not important.

After a few months, I have my roofing company to evaluate the roof conditions and he found and advised that the repair method by spreading tars over 2-3 holes as a patch was not acceptable method. SDS have drill through my roof and has put a temporary tar which is deemed to be a temporary fixed.
Description of Work: I purchased an offer for "$629 for Eight New LED Recessed Lights with Dimmer Switch Installed" SDS came out and installed recessed lighting per my direction in the family room for 6 lights. The other two lights were in the other room with added work included. The job was completed and well performed.

It wasn't good. When I originally hired them, they told me they pulled a permit for the job. They lied to me about that. They never pulled the permit for the job. It put me in a really bad position with the city. They were also supposed to meet with the inspector and they were ano show. When they finally did meet with the inspector, there were a bunch of things that needed to be done. They did a sloppy job cutting the holes for the lights. They had inexperienced guys that didn't know how to cut. It was just a horrible experience. I do not recommend this company. Josh was the manager and he was extremely disrespectful. He was not only rude to me, but he was rude to the inspector as well.
