Ernest brought his father with him to the consultation & did not charge me to come out. They arrived during the agreed upon time frame. They were very professional, courteous, & answered all of my questions. They took measurements of the room & said they would email me a written estimate (including quotes for various other services that they would be able to take care of in addition to the soundproofing). Nine days later, I left him a message to remind him to email it to me. As of this writing- 6 days after that call- I have not heard from him & he did not return my call. Note: As to the question of "Would you hire this company for a future job?", I only have 2 choices. I will mark "yes", although it is definitely more towards a "maybe".
Description of Work: I needed an estimate for putting soundproofing material underneath my condo's carpet. I am on the 2nd floor & I have had a problem with the acoustics from my downstairs neighbors (I feel their footfall & hear their voices & TV). Nina from Angie's List was kind enough to do research on the problem for me & suggested I contact EC General Contractors, since another member previously had similar condo/apartment noise problems & they were happy with the results after using this contractor.

+ -1 moreAFTER SURVEYING THE WATER DAMAGE AND DISCUSSING MY NOISE-RELATED CONCERNS, HE SAT DOWN AND EXPLAINED THE REPAIR PROCESS; THE MATERIAL TO BE USED; HOW HE WOULD INSTALL IT, THE ORDER OF TASKS; THE NUMBER OF WORKERS HE WOULD USE AND THE TIME IT WOULD TAKE TO DO THE JOB. HE ALSO RECOMMENDED USING ADDITIONAL MATERIAL OF A DIFFERENT SORT AS AN EXTRA MEASURE TO INSURE THE MAXIMUM LEVEL OF "QUIET" THAT I COULD GET. HE WAS HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS, AND IF HE DID NOT KNOW THE ANSWER, HE ADMITTED IT AND GOT THE ANSWER. EC CONTRACTORS' WORKERS ARE COMPETENT TRADESMEN. THE WORKERS START ON TIME IN THE MORNING AND WORK THE ENTIRE DAY, WEATHER PERMITTING. WHEN THE JOB WAS COMPLETED, ERNEST ADVISED HE WOULD RETURN AND MAKE SURE THERE WERE NO AREAS THAT NEEDED ADDITIONAL WORK, TO BE SURE THE JOB WAS DONE RIGHT. I WOULD RATE HIS WORK AS "EXCELLENT", AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND EC CONTRACTORS TO ANYONE IN NEED OF CARPENTRY, DRYWALL, PAINTING AND INSTALLATION OF SOUND-REDUCTION MATERIAL.
Description of Work: There were actually two jobs: (1) Was to repair damage done to my condominium that occurred as a result of a neighbor's bathtub that flooded my unit. (2) The second job was to install sound isolation material in my bedroom ceiling and a portion of my hallway to cut down on footfall noise that was coming from the condo above me. For job #1, this included demolition of damaged walls and ceiling; Installation of drywall in bedroom, hallway and bathroom, painting and clean-up. For job #2, it included ordering the material, installing the vinyl-type material; installing the Sound Isolation clips, hat channel, acoustical tape & caulk, as well as additional insulation for sound and for temperature. It took a while before Ernest could get to my job. However, once he started work on my home, his attention was undivided. Ernest is a young man, aptly named, with good work ethics and habits. He is low-key, direct, and respectful.
