After several voicemails, in which we indicated we would go with him, he fails to respond. If you did not want the business, please inform us and let us move on. I am surprised that the company gets so many good reviews. I gave the business a D.

 + -1 moreDan employs some questionable 'handymen' who seemed to know less than me on how to install some appliances. Work was not always a good as you would want. In other words, the work was only as good as I might do, and I really wanted someone who was better than me. On the other hand, Dan was very easy going and tried to be helpful. If somethings wasn't done properly, he tried to fix it. I do still have a patched up hole in the top of my corner cabinet where one of his team mismeasured for a cabinet light.
Description of Work: Installed cabinetry & appliances in small kitchen, removed tiles in living spaces, installed 2 bedroom doors.

 + -1 moreDan returned our call the same day that we made it. He gave us an estimate the following day and the next day the fence was put in. He had 2 workers install the fence and paint it. They worked until it was dark and were able to finish the job. The fence is very sturdy and solid. They were very professional and cleaned up and left no mess. We will definitely use Dan again.

 + 1 moreWork started okay with carpentry and drywall work. Most of the work was done by Dan's brother. They had a hard time completing the work they wanted to finish each day as they didn't show up un 10AM or later so the project ran over the estimated days to complete. The finish work was a big problem. Dan couldn't match the texture sprayed on the new drywall with the old wall so there was a noticeable difference from the new section and the old. Dan said he was an expert in molding as well. Turned out floor molding didn't fit correctly as the cuts were wrong. Our crown molding had been special ordered and we only had one piece long enough to replace the section in the dinning room he was remodeling. He was perplexed in getting things to fit and I finally had to tell him to stop before he ruined my molding. I told Dan I was going to call back my professional molding guy to finish the work. I had made the BIG mistake of paying Dan in full the night before as he was supposed to finish up the molding work the next morning in just a few hours and be done with the job. He was going to reimburse me the money for what my molding guy charged to finish the job. My molding guy did some amazing work to save the pieces Dan had cut wrong. When I tried to get Dan to pay me back the $150 for crown molding and floor molding I had to have finished by someone else, Dan wouldn't return my calls or emails.
Description of Work: Had a wall moved four inches to make room for a china cabinet. Work was to include carpenter work with new drywall. Finish work included texture coating, painting, match and replace floor molding and crown molding.

I was planning to utilize him but I found a nearby plumber who was also willing to come by and take care of the problem sooner and was more reasonably priced. He seemed to be easy to work with and I would consider him for future projects.
Description of Work: I had a leak in the gas line of my house and service was cut off by the gas company on a Saturday. I had to find a plumber/handyman who could come out over the weekend to restore my service ASAP.

 + -1 moreThey were prompt about fixing the latches and did a good job. the window that needed to be rep oared needed some parts. I had to call them after a few days of waiting and no contact to find out the status. As soon as they received the parts, however, they came by promptly and fixed the window.They were very professional and very courteous. They charged what they estimated and the price was reasonable. I would certainly not have a problem using them again.
Description of Work: I needed to have some windows repaired. A few of them just needed the latches fixed. One other window needed to be repaired. The spring load had broken and needed to be replaced.

 + 0 moreI wouldn't hire him again. I was said that the job was not that good. It was a lot of money for a job that wasn't good. The communication with the business owner was terrible. I kept calling him and calling him and he didn't call me back. The electrical work was really good and his guys were nice but the bottom line was that they didn't do what I ask. A good potion of the money was for the paint job and I got a terrible job. Some of the work they did was good but they said they would show up at 9am on one day and then the next day say "sorry we got a late start" when they didn't show up till 11am. They were very professional because if they were they would have said I will prime and paint the walls again no matter if I have other jobs or not. I had some other work that needed to be done aside from the paint and I called him to come and bid and he didn't even have the common decency to call me back. He knew he did a bad job.
Description of Work: I used Handy Dan on May the 4th. We hired him to gut one room. We had already removed the furniture but we needed him to take up carpet and tack strips, repair the closet, scrape the ceiling, put in a new ceiling fan, switch out all the plugs and to prime and paint the room. He gave me the contract then he left 2 guys who are his brothers to do the work. they were really nice guys but they made the decision to not prime the room before they painted it. When they pained it all the paint ran. They told us to leave the window open and when he came back he told us that it was the paint. We took the paint back but we knew it wasn't the paint, it was that they did a terrible job. We painted the other room ourselves and we primes first and use the same paint and we didn't have any problems. To fix the problem they repainted the room but it still don't look right. I even offered for him to do the work and I would hire someone to do the painting and he said "no, no we do paint, we do great paint". He didn't like the primer I bought so he took it back and bought the kind he wanted. That was ok but then he didn't even use it. They bid for the job at $1100.00 but we had one more thing we wanted done and that was a wall heater removed so they added another $225.00 for that and we paid for materials. He told his guys they had 1 1/2 days to finish the job. I was thinking how is that possible and so they didn't end up doing it right and had to come back out and do it again.

Description of Work: Wanted to hire local, but while HandyDan reports to being in Huntington Beach, the workers came from Yucipa. The work was not finished, and when I called for a time they could return, was told there would be an additional $50 charge. Obviously, this is a travel charge for the workers who all live in Yucipa. I think the Huntington Beach address is misleading.

The workmanship is beyond belief, He and his crew work very hard to make your vision come true. He will stay with you and listen to all of your concerns.the kitchen was a total remodel, ceiling floors painting custom cabinets, lighting,painting,electrical.I am 100% satisfied with the price and the workmanship. and when ever I need to speak with Dan , he always calls me back. excellent service.
Description of Work: When I first notified Dan, It was going to be a simple door removal, it quickly turned into a complete kitchen remodel ,with ceiling being raised and canned lights being put in, new kitchen cabinets, floors and taping and textureizing. it was a total makeover.

The first day the men arrived on time and ready to work.The cement was removed and discarded.All the men were professional and courteous.Told me when they were leaving and when they would be back. Then they went to work and put new cement and drains in the pattio.They told us when we could use the patio and move the furniture back.The men were all very neat and cleaned everything when done! Excellent job! Will use them again to complete the back part of my patio.
Description of Work: Had pattio cement replaced.Two new drains put in to prevent pattio from flooding..The cement was then painted a dark grayish black.

 + 6 moreI have used Handydan before several times but by far this was the biggest and most diverse work. Matt and Chris, Dan's two brothers worked my house for two weeks preparing it to go on the market and fix the original lousy job done by the painter used when I bought the house. Matt and Chris had a big challenge since they were covering not only bad painting but terrible choice of colors in the kitchen and bathroom. The above list show that the work was mutli-faceted. Their professionalism is TOP NOTCH; their personal attention is REFRESHING; their work is THE BEST. No one else touches this house. Add this: When my bug man came, they did not know he was coming and they did not let him into to the yard without making sure that the bug man had identification and my name. They repeatedly ensured my house was secure and only authorized people were given information about me and where I was, since I travel also.
Description of Work: 1. patch, prime, paint the interior of the entire house 2 coats of primer & 2 or 3 coats of paint in areas that bled through from old bright colored paint. sand down some oil paint on murals walls & doors. 2. replace front porch light. 3. repaint security screen front door. 4. patch den & bedroom room ceiling. 5. patch stucco near water heater housing, back door, holes for old fence & paint. 6. sand & paint both back steps landings & railings. 7. replace garage entry door with new prehung steel door. 8. adjust garage door opener. 9. pressure wash rain gutters, back steps, fascia & under eaves. 10. remove old blinds install 1 new blind in master bed room slider & toilet paper holder in hall bath. 11. replace door knob from hall to kitchen. 12. repair 2 gates by garage & corner of house driveway entry gate.

Things took a little longer than either of us expected but he was always available to chat if I had questions and was super easy to work with and explained everything very well. We encountered a few road blocks along the way thanks to the previous owner of my condo, but the finished product on all three jobs looks amazing! I will certainly hire Dan again in the future! Its nice to know that there are nice guys out there that do great work! Thanks Dan!

Because our jobs are small, Dan fits us into his schedule when he has time; this usually works best for all of us because we know exactly when he is coming.
