Description of Work: Mr Laird performed the home inspection for a home we were contracted to purchase and which we did purchase based upon the results of his inspection. These are the larger items that he missed: 4 feet of ducting in the crawl space that was deteriorated so the hvac system pulled in air from the crawl space and was not a closed system; fire door between garage and home was warped, did not self close and was not weather stripped and did not close completely; master bath drain clogged; non functioning shut offs for plumbing; electrical outlet usage in the dining room made lights go out in living room; missing ceiling vent in laundry closet; missed leak in crawl space which had produced mold. Several items he said were broken or needed correcting turned out not to be broken. We still finding items since we only moved in 2 weeks ago! Besides this, he stated on his website he is in good standing with the various organizations that train and monitor home inspectors but upon calling them, he is not in good standing with them--- he is not even a current member. He is not bonded--has not been since 2009 and probably does not have any errors and omissions insurance-- which means he cannot pay you if he makes a mistake that costs you lots of money. He promised me verbally and in writing he would refund me my $280 but has not and does not answer my calls. He has cost me, so far, $655.00 I have had to spend to make the home safe and livable. I have asked him for his insurance company name and he has not responded. Today I left him a message asking him to pay me what he owes me for my loss and his negligence and never heard from him. Mr Laird has acted in a very unprofessional way. He is evasive and was attempting to blame me for what is broken in this home. I hope that Angie's list can can help me with this difficult situation.
