It took him 3 days to call me back. When he did, he said he'd have to call me back again to schedule an estimate. He never did. I moved on to the next contractor.

First let me say that the contractor for a week services is not true to form the way it is advertised on Angie's List. Kyle explained that I was not going to get a crew of workers to do repairs for a week. I would receive two workers for 2 1/2 days which was equivalent to one worker for the week. The work I had done required a two man crew. I bought an additional 2 1/2 days. Kyle, the contractor, came over, reviewed what needed to be done, set up a start date, and sent me a list of materials to pick up. He was very personable, knowledgeable, and totally transparent which is why I decided to hire him. The materials were not included in the price. I spent an additional $900-$1000 on materials. I have an old 1910 craftsman bungalow. The walls in the sunroom of the first bedroom had the same wood planks as the exterior of the house. They were blocked, insulated, and covered with drywall. The wood planks on the ceiling had gaps that were caulked. The old door and trim was removed, replaced, and locks installed. In the main section of the bedroom, paneling was removed. Underneath were plastered walls. The workers tried to repair the numerous cracks, but sections of the wall crumbled. It was easier for the workers to take down the plaster and replace it with dry wall than to make repairs. In the second bedroom, the popcorn ceiling was removed. The plaster on the ceiling was sagging in several areas after the removal. The workers replaced the ceiling with drywall. The decision was made to repair the gaps in the wall paneling instead of removing it and encountering problems with the plaster. Crown moulding was added. The hallway that led from the downstairs to the end of the upstairs had 1970 brown paneling and 40 year old popcorn ceiling that was cracked and falling. The workers removed the paneling, took off the popcorn, repaired numerous cracks, and smoothed the ceiling. The cracks on the walls were filled and sanded a little. They could have used another round of spackling and sanding, but I was paying for time and had more work to be completed. The workers removed a firewall that was placed over a wooden banister. They were very careful when taking down the wall and saving the banister. Trim was put around a hallway dumbwaiter box. I had a toilet replaced. Outside, the workers screened in numerous areas above the eaves to stop birds from roosting and nesting. The workers piled all trash in a neat pile in the backward. They hauled away the debris on two trips, but I had to pay for the trash dump that was about $165. I was very pleased with the work Kyle construction performed. If I had more time and money, I would have hired the company to remodel other rooms. I look forward to working with them in the future.

I was on the east coast and the work needed to be done on the west coast. Kyle went and took a look (accompanied by the condo doorman) and the we emailed regarding what needed to be done. When I arrived in Los Angeles, we met to speak in person and go over the final details. I provided most of the supplies at my own cost (vanity, toilet, tile, grout). Kyle supplied tub and a few extras, from my credit for supplies. Kyle's crew started when expected. Work went great. I was not at home during the most part of the construction and fully trusted Kyle and his crew in the condo without me. They are craftsmen - the tile were perfectly cut and laid. They seemlessly joined old tile with new. The plaster work is excellent. Paint, too. Everything was really done with a great attention to detail. They were careful with my home, and cleaned up everything. I really have nothing but GREAT things to say. We could not be happier. We had them do some other work while there, and every single thing they did seems perfect. It has only been done a very short while. I hope the work lasts! But I have no reason to think that it will not. I would not hesitate to use Kyle and his crew again in the future. In fact, he's coming back in June. If you are wondering if you can trust Kyle with your home, I wondered the same. I am so happy I did! EXCELLENT work. Thanks so much Kyle and crew for doing such a wonderful job :)

I communicated with Mr. Beym via email about repairs to my parents' house in California. I live in Wisconsin, and so I would not be able to be present for any of the work in person. Mr. Beym was very professional in all of my dealings with him, even though I never met him or any of his staff in person. My parents were also very satisfied with their interactions with him, and pleased with the work that was done.

I recently moved into a new home and had several projects that needed to be completed. Kyle arrived on time for our initial appointment. He listened carefully and took notes while I described in detail some issues that needed to be fixed. He also gave me some ideas on how to fix a spa fence using the existing material which would help us save money. On the scheduled work day, Kyle and his team arrived on time. They did an outstanding job. They even fixed some broken floor tiles that I forgot to tell him about during our initial session. They left the job site clean and seemed very careful while working. I highly recommend Kyle Behm and would not hesitate to call on him for future projects.

The job was a smaller job, but still given the same priority and attention as my other jobs. There was quite a variance of tile color - from light to dark and the homeowner did point out after installation that he didn't care for the darker pieces. Consequently, I did replace the the offending tile myself, on my own time, for which he was not charged. I did complete this job 2 1/2 years ago, but never received word from the homeowner that there was a problem with the pocket door. Upon having heard this, I would have been happy to return to take care of the problem.

The workmanship was at best average to poor. Drywall was not installed flat causing baseboards to be wavy. Holes for outlets were a little too big and crooked. The window was not square and was off by 1/4 to 1/2 inch over a span of 4 ft. One ceiling fan had a screw that was over tightened and the head was broken causing the blade to droop and wobble. Kyle returned to drill out the screw and tap new threads but then the fan did not work. When the fan repairman came, he said the motor was shorted out and could not remove the new tapped screw and had to take the fan back to the shop.
Description of Work: 1. Raise 12 elect outlets to standard height. 2. Replace drywall in back bedroom and office to 2' high, the length of back walls ~14' each. Spray matching texture on new drywall. 3. Install new window (provided by homeowner), framing, stucco repair, exterior window trim, and repair drywall on interior, constructing drywall sill. 4. Install new baseboards where outlets were raised.

Unfortunately, this job didn't turn out that well from the perspective of the homeowner. We responded to criticisms, instruction, and even a few harsh words, but couldn't quite make him happy. Most of the existing work that we had to deal with was imperfect, ie. drywall, making our work imperfect; although we tried our best and even redid a lot of the work. Truthfully, I've never encountered this level of perfectionism and I think that anyone would've found it difficult to please him.

I emailed Kyle-he responded quickly, but said he couldn't do the job right away. However,he had some time open up so he went to the house to make an estimate. His bid was very fair and I hired him. He and his employee did the work well and as promised. He kept in constant communication with me. I am just so pleased with the whole experience. I highly recommend Kyle...nice guy who is honest and does great work.

Overall the remodel, went really smooth. We initially purchased the coupon on Angie's List for one basic bathroom remodel. Kyle came by to look at the bathroom and answer some questions BEFORE I actually purchased the coupon! Kyle's very quick reply and follow up were really appreciated, especially since I had been trying to get at least two other contractors to "bid" on the remodel. Be advised that the coupon is for a very basic remodel so be sure to ask Kyle if it is appropriate for your plans...he is very upfront and honest. We got started in a reasonable time frame. We had a little issue with a permit, but Kyle swung by the city offices and took care of it...of course, we paid for the fees and we only lost about one day. We were done in about a week from start to finish! I have to mention that the two-man team that did the work from start to finish were EXTREMELY good, considerate, prompt, knowledgeable, diligent...need I say more? They cleaned up the work area as best possible each day. They were there every day...even one Saturday. Again, overall, we were very happy with the experience...of course, we are very happy with the new bathroom! Additionally, we were so happy with the first bathroom remodel that we had Kyle and his crew do a partial remodel in another bathroom and a full remodel of our master bathroom. We pretty much purchased all the tile, cabinets/vanities, lighting and accessories, and they put it all in. We decided on a frameless shower in the master, so Kyle referred a company that specializes in such things. We contracted directly with the frameless shower contractor so this took about a week after all the remodeling was done.
Description of Work: Remodeled one bathroom through the Angie's List coupon (about $4,900), but ended up remodeling two additional bathrooms because we were happy with Kyle's work (about another $15,000). We purchased the tile, cabinets/vanities, lighting and accessories

Purchased an Angie's List Big Deal from Kyle Beym Home Improvement with the intention of rehabbing a home I intended to use as a rental. When the contractor discovered the work was to be done in North Hills, he decided that that was too far for him to travel and suggested I request a refund from Angie's List -- which I did. Had I known in advance that the contractor was unwilling to serve this geographic area, I would not have purchased the Big Deal (for $1500) in the first place.

Kyle was one of only 3 contractors I could find willing to do the job, I picked Kyle because the others did not seem to really want to take on such a small project, and because I just got a good feeling from his detailed quote. I was very specific about what I wanted, and Kyle's bid was professional detailed and had clear definition regarding the scope. He started the work exactly as promised and finished BEFORE promised. The work was professional, the work area left clean and looking good. He even helped calm my fears regarding some other issues that came up directly following the completion of the job, helping me to know what next steps are most critical for work that needs to be done. He's went above and beyond the call of duty on this one, and I can recommend him without hesitation for similar work.
Description of Work: I needed to have a new bathtub installed in my home. It required removal of the old tub, disposal of the tub, assistance with purchase and final installation to working order of the new tub. When done I needed to have it ready to use.

I called Kyle to obtain an estimate. The appointment was made for the very next day, which was terrific because I explained to Kyle that I had been putting off the repair and that my wife had given me an ultimatium to get it done within 7 days! I had gotten an estimate from another contractor who bid a whopping $3,500 for the job! He wanted to tear out the entire section of the wall that was damaged, including the foundation. I got another bid from a guy who was unlicensed and he only wanted $1,200 for the job, but could not provide any references--risky business! Kyle showed up for our appointment 10 minutes early (the other guys were late). He was very courteous and professional and took quite a long time making all of the needed measurements before he came inside to discuss what needed to be done. My wife happened to be home at the time and she too was very pleased with his entire approach--low key, soft spoken, and obviously knew what he was talking about. He gave us a price of $2,000, which was very fair for a job he said would take 2 full days to complete. He also explained and then showed us why the foundation was just fine and couldn't understand why the other guy told us it needed to be torn out. A problem he told us about with the job was trying to match the new bricks he would need to purchase with the old bricks which were undamaged. His mason did a great job blending the old and new, so that when the job was finished, it was very hard to tell that the wall had been rebuilt. By the way, the mason who originally built the wall ("Bob" was his name) was a beer drinking, cigarette smoking "Old School" type of guy who was very passionate about his work and quite a perfectionist! We were concerned that the precision of the work would not be as good as Bob's! Kyle's mason turned out to be quite talented himself and we have to admit that he was just as good as "Bob"! We had a nice chat with Kyle at the end of the job and learned that his company does all kinds of home improvements, including room additions. Although money is tight, we will be using Kyle Beym Home Improvements to remodel our upstairs master bathroom. His ideas for saving money on the job were very creative and he has bid a price that is very fair and just makes sense expense-wise. These days it's hard to find someone who shows up on time, does what they say they're going to do, does it at a fair price, and does it right the first time. Not to mention being an all-around nice guy who you want to do business with again.
Description of Work: Rebuilt a badly damaged brick retaining wall which was hit by an SUV that went out of control. Unfortunately, the driver fled the scene in his vehicle and I was stuck with having to pay to rebuild the wall ($2,500 Homeowners Insurance deductible).

Description of Work: Called Kyle Beym based on proximity to my location and number of positive Angie's list reviews. We were interested in a complete kitchen remodel, floors, cabinets and counters. Kyle was prompt and professional, and his bid seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, I was not prepared for the full cost of a remodel so we have decided to remodel slowly and in stages. Overall I'm very happy and pleased with Kyle and his crew. His bid was the most competitive and his work was excellent. His crew took great care and attention to the very minor details. They didn't rush the job, took their time and did it to my satisfaction. Communication was great, Kyle is conveniently responsive to calls, emails and texts. There was one small issue when all the work was done, a small leak in the base of the shower door. I'd attribute this more to a poor shower door design ( my fault since I purchased the materials ), but Kyle was quick to address this issue. For future home improvement projects and I believe they can tackle just about anything, I'd definitely contact them first.
Description of Work: Remodeled the shower room. 1. Demo showerpan, shower surround, and main floor. Haul away debris. 2. Construction of shampoo niche. 3. Installation of new mixer valve, showerhead, and drain. 4. Construction of shower pan and installation of tile at shower base, walls, and floor. 5. Removal of water closet door and finishing of drywall at opening. 6. Installation of exhaust fan with switch and 1 recessed light. 7. Installation of frameless shower door with track. 8. I contacted Kyle Beym Home Improvements through Angie's list and talked directly to Kyle. He was very responsive in terms of getting back to me and scheduling an appointment to review the work I wanted done. During the appointment, he showed up on time, reviewed all of my comments and questions and promptly gave me a bid the following day that was comfortably within the ballpark range we discussed. His bid was on par with some of the other contractors I've talked to but the reason I decided to work with Kyle is because he seemed very trustworthy to me. The majority of our contact was over email which suited me just fine as it gives us both records of our discussions. Also, when giving me the bid, he estimated 3, possibly 3.5 business days, to complete the project. On the first day, Kyle showed up on time and immediately began to cover and protect the floor so that demo could begin. I had to go to work, so I gave Kyle and his crew access to a lockbox so that if they were done before I came back home, they could lock up without me. When I got home after the first day, the doors were all locked and the key was in the lockbox just as we discussed. Also, the house was clean and the demolition was complete. We did run in to a couple of hiccups none of which were the fault of Kyle Beym Home Improvements. The hiccups were that the cabinet I had purchased didn't really line up exactly with the previous one and the water lines had to be moved slightly. Also, the countertop which I had purchased which came with a sink included didn't exactly line up with the countertop either. I talked to Kyle about it and he told me not to worry, he'd take care of it. They moved the water lines over and did some modifications to the vanity to accomodate the top and sink and it was at no extra charge! I was relieved and very much appreciated his flexibility. His crew really tried hard to finish the project and was working until past 8pm on the third day, but they told me they would have to come back the next day and finish up. Kyle and I had discussed this project possibly taking 3.5 days anyway so it was no big deal. They came back the next morning and finished up around 2-3pm which is slightly more than 3.5 days but given the curveballs my cabinet had thrown them, it wasn't a bother at all. Kyle's crew was very nice and professional throughout. Even on small details like the towel racks, they would check with me to make sure I was happy with where they were thinking it would be installed. Oh, I should mention that Kyle made a suggestion to have the bathroom floor tile sit right up next to the hallway laminate wood flooring without the use of transition strip which turned out awesome. A minor detail, but it looks much better than it would have with the use of a strip. Another example of a minor detail where his guys were great, was the installation of a new vent cover. I never thought it mattered much about which way one would install a vent cover. But they explained that I may want the cover install in this one particular way, to minimize the ability to anyone to look up and in to the vent. Never thought of that. What a great little suggestion because now no one can reasonably look in to the vent. If there was one criticism, I would only say I wish that Kyle were present for at least the majority of the duration of the project. I understand that this is a pretty common practice though and the project was small so it is not a big deal. The couple of times I had to call him, he was quite good about getting back to me so that was comforting at least. All in all, I was very happy with Kyle Beym Home Improvements. I think the quality of the work was very good, the timing and pricing of the project was also more than satisfactory. Their flexibility was fantastic and I appreciated that they kept things as clean as possible. The one thing I look for when evaluating any service is not the big details, but the little ones. To me, the big details are requirements of the job. Install things properly, do things the right way, don't cut corners, etc. Every service MUST be able to take care of the big details. But what separates the great services from the good ones are the small details and this is where I felt Kyle Beym Home Improvements really shined for me. These are things like flexibility, honesty, responsiveness, ensuring satisfaction, etc. I have other home improvement projects planned in the future, and as soon as I have the time (and money!) Kyle Beym will be the first person I call to take a look at it.
Description of Work: Kyle Beym Home Improvements performed the following services for a guest bathroom facelift: - Demo of floor, toilet, vanity, fixtures - Paint walls & ceiling - Install and paint baseboards - Install floor tile - Install new floating cabinet - Install countertop, sink & faucet - Install new toilet - Install recessed can lights and connect to a new switch - Remove medicine cabinet and seal up wall - Move light fixture location - Install fixtures (towel racks, framed mirror, outlet covers).

Overall , Kyle did a great job. Showed up when he said he would, was on time and his employees were also very reliable. We were impressed with how they were very detailed in the work and cleaned up everything before they left. We had a water line come loose on the washer and we had water damage to the floor and some drywall. Also the insulation under the house had to be replaced. Since we had to replace so much in the laundry room, we decided to install a Durapan under the washer to save ourselves some future headaches. The new vinyl floor looks great and the room was repainted. Trimwork was done well (base boards) and the insulation under the house was replaced. We would call Kyle and his crew again and would recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and experienced handyman.
Description of Work: Had to remove and reinstall new vinyl flooring in laundry room. Reinstall dryer and washer including Durapan and fastening pan to floor. Install new baseboards in laundry room, and bedroom closet. Paint laundry room walls. ( This work was the result of our washer water line coming loose and 1 inch of water throughout the room ). Also, had Kyle replace 200sq ft of floor insulation and the belly board that holds this in place. He was patient with the Seniors that live with us and very attentive to the work at hand.

The kitchen is light and airy, but my choice of cabinet maker and stove have me disappointed.
Description of Work: Kyle Beym Home Improvement kitchen remodel took a long time to complete. I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal in February and the project wasn't completed until August. The cabinets are custom, but there are design flaws that Kyle didn't supervise/correct even though he recommended the company. Delays because I had to order the knobs/pulls, flooring, recycler. Kyle went with me once to choose appliances but I had to arrange installation and all he did was approve my choices. I secured my own flooring and installation. I would have been better served if I had known what I wanted rather than count on Kyle for design. The work he did himself was very good - demolition, re-inforcing of ceiling, new ceiling lights, & painting; he perservered to install a hot water recycler and under cabinet lighting. Communication was good via phone and email but the planning could have been better. I will probably use Kyle for my bathroom remodel but not until I know what I want.

Member was very sweet and for the most part easy to work with. She did purchase the coupon in February but waited a few months to contact me for a start date. While she did have a general idea of what she wanted, she vacillated between many options from the cabinet style and color, the pulls, the granite, etc, making the remodeling months longer. I made myself available to meet with her many times and I agree that she would have been better served if she had a more concrete idea of what she wanted. I would be happy to work for her again, I'd just want to make sure that we had a better plan in place before accepting the job.

I bought the coupon in may 2011. the project was scheduled for august 2011. Kyle and crew came as scheduled. The quality of the materials was good. The project was completed on time and required on a few minor adjustments. I was pleased with the results.

Perhaps this guy would do a great job, but if he doesn't call people back, it makes you wonder if he'd even show up. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. This guy tarnished his own reputation, and also that of Angie's list.
Description of Work: First experience w/ Angies List contactor, and I am very disappointed. On September 28, 2012 I called this contractor, explaining that I needed a small bathroom remodel, due to pipe leak in the ceiling. Need shower redone, drywall, painting, etc. I received a call that afternoon from the contactor's phone number, but could not hear the person on the other end. I hung up and called again, explaining that I got a call but could not hear him on the other end, and left my number again. This guy never even bothered to call me back as of October 12, 2012 (Clearly he has not intention of returning my call) . Even if he was super busy, do you not call a potential client back? I've now found a suitable contactor, the old fashioned way. I got a recommendation from my neighbor.

Member did contact me via email, but addressed me as Handyman Dan and I mistakenly disregarded her email as I thought she was trying to contact another contractor.

This was the first time I had gone to 'Angie' and I couldn't be happier! Kyle and Timo are awesome. During 'demo', they discovered the wall needed additional work - they did the extra work at no additional charge. And even though I couldn't find matching tile, Timo was able to select and fabricate tiles so they match the existing tile perfectly. It looks better than I hoped. Proffesional, dependable, they definitely went the extra mile - a pleasure to work with!
Description of Work: The wall next to my shower had water damage, so I needed tile removed, the wall repaired and re-tiled. I also had several leaking faucets and valves.
