From start to finish, we were extremely pleased with John Reichman, his crew, and ultimately the finished work. Starting with the quoting process, John listened very well as I went over the work to be done. I had some specific requests, so that in-wall computer/speaker wiring would not risk being damaged. Although the risk of damage was minimal, John agreed that every precaution should be taken. Although John's quote was the highest of the three we got, we decided we were most comfortable with him. (Specifically, it was 7% higher than the lowest.) John's quote was light on the details we'd discussed. However, if we wanted everything in detail, he said he would have provided it. We had enough interaction that I was comfortable with what he provided. Drywall work is dusty and dirty. His crew was very good with preparing and protecting the work area. Tile was protected with ram board (thin but heavy duty cardboard material). Carpeting was protected with thick plastic taped down. Thin plastic was taped to the walls to create curtains, containing most of the dust. We found a little tape residue on the walls from the white masking tape. However, I think this just because blue tape isn't strong enough to hold the plastic on the walls and ceiling. For future work, I'll discuss this with John. Generally speaking, John did not spare any expense in plastic and tape. Plastic was also placed outside, where all the tools and materials were placed. Work progressed according to schedule. John's crew started at 7:00 AM each day. They were always on time. John was always here in the morning with them. He'd go over the scope of work for the day. For the rest of the day, he was in-and-out at random times. Although J&R doesn't have a full-fledged painting division, John does have a painter (Martin) who is conscientious. We had him seal/prime with materials that we'd provided. At the end of the job, the entire area was cleaned up. Even the outside area was hosed down. A day after paying John in full, we noticed an area of texture that didn't dry correctly. It looked like the surface of the moon, rather than a light orange-peel texture. I called John about it. He said he'd come by later to look at it, and did. After discussing the problem and resolution, we scheduled the work. It took about 1/2 day to fix the area. At no time did we feel like this was our problem. John resolved the problem professionally, and without additional charge. John communicated promptly and clearly throughout the process. Some of his crew only speaks Spanish. But, he always had at least one experienced worker who spoke English. We would hire J&R Custom Walls again. John, Jose, Juan, Ispano, and the rest of the crew did a wonderful job.
