+ -1 moreAngie's List unsuccessfully attempted to locate a replacement company in my area for the same service. I subsequently requested and received a full refund from Angie's List. California's Consumer Protection laws require that publicly advertised prices and service be honored until changed/posted otherwise. Angie's List needs a method for having their providers review and sign off on advertising, at which point requiring them to follow California Law would be much easier. Had I reported this violation, the Angie's List company offering this sprinkler service could have faced a large fine and/or been forced to honor the offer.
Description of Work: In spite of an Angie's List ad indicating that this company serviced my rural community, after signing up for this offer I was informed by the company that they do not. They refused to provide the service as advertised.

Description of Work: Apparently there was some confusion between Vally Sprinklers and Angie's List. Valley Sprinklers said they would not do a tune up for $49 and it was a misunderstanding with Angie's List. They are a good company, so we had them do the work anyways. :-)

Description of Work: I have used George Jones exclusively for 10+ years. His work is first rate (he has completely re-designed and installed my aging lawn/garden watering system that covers 3 city lots). He stands by his work. I recommended him to a neighbor who had just been told by another sprinkler installer that a rotor watering system couldn't possibly work on his lawn. Valley designed and installed a rotary system that works perfectly, my neighbor is thrilled. For honesty and integrity he rates an A+. I don't think Valley Sprinkler has an equal anywhere in the Fresno, CA area. News that he has retired is premature but he may not be taking on many new customers. Get to him while you can.

+ -1 moreAll in all, George did a ton of work for us and installed 3 new valves, lots of sprinkler and bubbler parts - and the price was lower than I had any reason to expect. Very reasonable prices and very good work. We will have George come back for other work that needs to be done.
Description of Work: We had several valves that were leaking and George came out on the day that I called to look at the problem and make a game plan. The leak was quite bad and the old-style valves were in a below-ground-level box. The ground was a muddy mess. George talked with me about options; we decided to replace all 3 valves and move them above ground. The water was shut off to the garden so the mud could dry out. An appointment was made for a few days later to complete the work (in order for the ground to dry out). George showed up promptly on Monday morning to do the work, as arranged. The new valves were relocated to above ground, which involved some repiping and resetting of everything. It looks good and works great! George was able to repair two other valves that were leaking. In addition, we have irrigation to 15 orange trees that wasn't working well. George got that all spruced up and replaced all the parts that weren't working as they should be. George explained that the squirrels sharpen their teeth on parts of the sprinkler system. :( My husband likes the timer that George uses and wanted to replace several other very old timers. George recommended that we wait until they actually break and then replace them, since the economy is not in very good shape right now. Very thoughtful and indicative of how he is looking out for the customer.

+ -1 more2 a.m., my sprinkler system goes on as scheduled. I happened to be up working in my office at that time (I'm a nite owl). I noticed that the system was continuing to run even after the alotted time. I went out to try to figure out what was going on, and came to the conclusion that the solenoid valves were not working properly and there was no way to turn off the sprinklers, and that the yard was going to be flooded if I didnt turn the water off to the entire house, which I did. 1st thing in the morning, I called George at Valley Sprinkler's, explained the situation, and he came over to my house to perform the work within two hours. I was extremely grateful as he had to juggle his appointments around to accomodate me. He quickly analyzed the situation and did a temporary fix so I could at least turn the water back on to the house for the day. We agreed on a price for the permanent fix and the next morning he returned, and changed out the solenoid valves. He went an extra mile by checking on all my sprinkler heads to be sure everything was clean and working properly, which I had asked him to do. No charge for that. He did an excellent job, used quality parts, and I was very pleased. George is courteaous, honest, dependable, and professional. I'd hire him again in a hearbeat.

+ -1 moreHe arrived on the day he said he was going to. He called before coming over as I had requested. When he arrived, I showed and explained to him all of the problems with my sprinklers. None of the problems were a real challenge to him. he knew exactly what to do. Instead of replacing the coupler with another one that would end up leaking again in the future, he replaced it with an actual PVC pipe which should hold indefinitely. With malfunctioning antisiphon valve in the backyard, once I explained the symptom, he knew what the problem was, replaced the broken part in minutes, and didn't even charge me for it. He even showed me what to do so that I could fix it myself next time. I would definitely call him again in the future.
Description of Work: (1)Replaced leaking coupler by antisiphon valve frontyard, (2)replaced broken valve at antisiphon valve backyard, (3)replaced old malfunctioning controller frontyard, (4)programmed controller backyard.
