Description of Work: Digital TV quit working after 2 years, 7 days. The warrantee stopped at 2 years. They agreed to attempt to replace the circuit board. The part was ordered but it did not fix the video display.

Description of Work: A pair of service technicians came to our home in the foothills northeast of Clovis to examine our old rear-projection television, on which a steadily increasing number of white squares was interfering with the picture. By the scheduled service date, the TV was also going off without warning and was difficult to turn back on. The technicians examined the set, consulted with their boss by phone, and determined that the set would need to be taken into the shop. We gave them a check for $129 to cover the cost of the in-home visit, transportation of the set to the shop, and diagnosis. A few days later, we left on a three-week vacation. While we were gone, the shop owner/chief technician (Paul?) spent many hours trying to find the source of the problems. A new computer chip solved the problem with the picture, but the source of the on/off problem remained elusive. We checked on the status of repairs when we returned home. Paul told us that it would probably cost more to repair the set than to replace it, so we decided to buy a new one, and have the shop dispose of the old one. This was done at no additional charge. We not charged for the computer chip that had been bought to deal with the picture problem. Paul simply put shelved it for use on a future repair for someone else.
