My husband and I had a house built by Fresno Management dba Western Homes. The quality of the my new house is not the same as what is displayed in the model house. We are now over 8 weeks past the home walk-through. We have not moved into our new house yet because the builder says they need their final payment before we can move in and we don't want to give them their final payment until everything is fixed. They are okay with their subcontractors doing crappy work and when you call them out on it they do not want to make things right. I was told today that the owners do not want to meet with me to discuss the issues that my husband and I are unhappy with and they are not going to do anything else. Here are the issues: First the cabinets were stained (by Everlast Painting in Clovis) the wrong color and we agreed to a "fix", the cabinets were finished and had bubbles in the finished and scratches/chips in the wood were not sanded down or filled prior to the stain application, contractor came back out and was supposed to fix the scratches, bubbles, and unstained strips on the hinge side of the cabinet doors but only half way sanded out some scratches and applied another clear coat and left the bubbles. contractor came back out a 3rd time to only sanded down bubbles in the finish and did NOTHING to remedy the scratches/chips in the wood or the unstained strips on the hinge side of the cabinet doors. the owners of the Western Homes said they are doing nothing else with regards to the cabinets and to me that is UNACCEPTABLE. The quality of my cabinets is NOT the same as what is displayed in their model house and that is what I am asking for. Others issues are the stucco'd eves. They are sloppily done and gaps where you can stick your fingers through. A subcontractor dented our metal water heater closet door and instead of replacing it they bondo?d and painted it. Linoleum in the dining room is already lifting. I was told by western homes that they can not warranty this because this is along an expansion joint. At NO time did anyone ever tell me this and now I have a huge lifted piece of linoluem in the middle of my dining room that no one wants to fix. The flashing around the chaise and pipe was not installed properly, the roof leaked after the insulation and drywall were installed. This leak was there prior to the insulation and drywall and I was told that everything was okay but that was not the case and went we went in the house on Christmas Day 2012 we saw stained drywall. We have been assured that no water touched the insulation or drywall but I don?t understand how that can be the case when water stains showed up at the bottom of the drywall. It is a HUGE concern that we will be seeing mold and/or mildew issues the near future. All we are asking is for is the same quality of work that is displayed in the model house and if other issues arise within the next year (which is the warranty period) I am afraid that they won't fix anything. We have got nothing but the run around while we continue to accure interest at 7.5% on our new construction loan and have had to pay loan extension fees and the builder doesn't want to reimburse us for the extra fees we incurred because they say it isn't their fault... Since they are the construction management company and hire the subcontractors they should be on the hook if problems don't get fixed.
