On moving day, Craig and his two assistants were at my home when he said he would be. He picked up the truck for me, taking care of all the details. The men were very careful with our belongings, wrapping each piece of furniture with blankets and wrapping them with "green wrap tape". They were able to get everything onto the truck, taking care driving through the mountains to our new home. Unloading was a breeze, they got everything in place taking extra special care not to scratch my new wood flooring. I give this company a "5" star rating, they were courteous and pleasant the whole entire time, always taking into consideration all my concerns. If you have read any bad reports, they are not true. I was referred to this company, and I'd refer them to anyone who is in need of moving. Thank you Five Star Moving.

My first time ever using a mover. Five Star Moving showed up on time. They showed up with on driving the U-Haul and two others in a Van with all items need for moving. Five Star does not have trucks they use U-Haul and you pay U-Haul direct. The cost was $101. Five Star picked up the U-Haul they took care of it all. The three movers Richard, Gabe and Dennis where very professional. All furniture was package well and no damage. This turned out to be very stress free. Thanks Guys will use you again.

Five Star Moving came to my family's rescue for the second time in a year recently. The movers called in advance of the move to inquire if they could arrive early as their first job was completed faster than projected. (Good sign!) If the agreed upon arrival time was set in stone, it would be no problem. We had no problem with the early arrival. Three Five Star guys carefully packed all of our fragile items and they arrived perfectly intact. We also had a cherished piano that was carefully padded and securely lashed within the truck and it arrived without a scratch. The couch was packed as if it belonged to the guys. The guys were courteous and cheerful, much more cheerful than I would be working in Fresno on a hot July day. In short, everything arrived in perfect condition. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Many stars and three cheers to Five Star Moving!
Description of Work: Pack a moving truck with a piano, large couch, boxes of books, barbeque, lamps, dishes, and other household items. Mover had to make two stops, one at a storage facility and one at a house, to complete the job.

Five Star Moving was professional, hardworking, and went above and beyond just moving furniture. When they discovered that one of the pieces of furniture was resting on a broken leg (not something that Five Star Moving broke but something that was already broken before they arrived), they offered to fix the furniture for us...and did a GREAT job! I can highly recommend Five Star Moving and specifically Richard, Roger, and Dennis who were our movers.
Description of Work: Five Star Moving arrived at our office location, picked up furniture, delivered that furniture to a 2nd location, went to a 3rd location and picked up additional furniture, took that additional furniture to two additional different locations. The distance between locations was often about 30 minutes drive time, and they did everything (moving as well as driving) in 5 hours.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us why our service failed to meet your expectations. We value your business, and would like to address your concerns as quickly as possible. I understand your frustration, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we have caused you. (1) The couch was covered, however when Chase tried to pull it out of the truck it slipped off the moving pad, thus was rubbing up against the dirty floor of the uhaul truck. Go ahead and have the couch cleaned and send me the bill and i will reimburse you for the cleaning. (2) Yes, there were scratches on your chairs and Richard pointed them out to your daughter prior to putting them on the truck. I was told your daughter said "that's fine, don't worry about it". I was also told these chairs looked like your cat scratched them in several areas. The damage to your chairs were caused by your cats, NOT by our movers. (3) The crew is extremely surprised you mentioning how long the job took. You had a lot of stuff. You were able to fill a 26' truck 2.5 times. 90% of our moves we can fit into one trip in a 26' truck. They worked hard throughout the day and stopped for a lunch and dinner break. You also have to keep in mind the travel time from your current location to the new house (30 min each way) thus 2.5 hrs of the move was travel time. Richard also mentioned to you about centralizing all the boxes during the unload process to one area of the house to cut down on time, however you wanted them to put the boxes in each of the rooms they went in, which in turn took more time doing this. It was a long and very hot day for everyone! Please know that I will personally be handling your case, and will be in contact with you until this issue is resolved to your satisfaction. Please send me the bill for the cleaning service on the couch. It is my goal to restore your confidence in our company by solving this problem and preventing it from happening again. The growth we have experienced over the years is because of customers like you, who faithfully support our business. Please be assured that your comments and recommendations will make a difference. My husband and I were moving across town to our new home and needed help with the large pieces of furniture. Even though I called the week of, Five Star was extremely accommodating and fit us in on a Saturday after they had a large morning job. They worked quick and were very professional, and took great care of all our things. We even asked them on the spot if they could help unload the whole large Uhaul truck we had and they stayed and worked for an extra hour and half. We could not have done this move without their help, I am so thankful that there is a moving service in the area that could help!!!!!

The team, Dustin, Roger, and Andre, arrived on time and were courteous and helpful. The move took about 3.25 hours (with preparation ahead- all boxes stacked in the front room according to size, drawers emptied out, etc.) They wrapped everything well with only a couple of small scratches here and there, what I would expect from any move. It was nice that they are available 7 days a week, so I could move on a Sunday. I paid for the Uhaul rental, but they took care of picking it up, driving, and returning it. It was the smoothest part of my moving experience! (I used their living social coupon which saved $100). I would not, however, recommend the associated cleaning service.
Description of Work: Moved me from a 2 bed, 2-story townhome, to a 2-bed apartment 1.5 miles away.

5 Star is my go to movers. I have had to move several times in the last couple of years and I would not dream of calling anyone else. These guys are professionals. They moved the contents of my house including a piano. They wrapped everything in moving blankets and wrap. They packed the truck as efficiently as possible and had fun while doing it. We heard of this company through a Living Social special that advertised 2 hours of labor for $98. We purchased the special and spoke with the owner Craig directly to schedule our move. We gave Craig great detail of our current rental home that It was a 3bed 2bath, garage, and some patio furniture that would need to be moved. We were also very clear in that we needed to make two stops , one to take stuff to our storage and then a a majority of our stuff to our new upstairs apartment. We requested a morning appointment because we new we had a lot of things, but Craig told us he was booked and couldn't start until noon. Craig said the job would be no problem for his 3 guys to get done. Based on his "expert" opinion that the job could get done even if they started at 12 noon we agreed to it. Our appointment was to be Jan 18th 12 noon. On Jan 17th at 10pm Craig sent us a text message notifying us that his 8am time slot had opened due to a cancelation. He asked if his guys could come earlier and we promptly replied we could not make the 8am time and needed to stick with our original 12 noon time. The day of our appointment a uhaul and his guys showed up at our rental home at 8am and called us asking where we were. At that time we were driving in from being out of town. We said we told Craig we needed to stay with our original 12 noon time. The guy on the phone said no problem that was their mistake in communication with the owner. From 8am to their appointment time the crew left a 20 foot uhaul parked in my drive way. When the crew showed up at noon I gave the guys a walk thru of the home and showed them all the labeled boxes and items. After the walk thru the crew leader said their is just no way they could do this big job this late in the day. He said the owner Craig did not tell them they needed a large uhaul (which they only brought a 20ft uhaul instead of a 26ft like Craig said they were bringing) nor did Craig give them any of the detail about our job that we provided. After the crew leader explained to me that it would be dark and unsafe for them to move us this late in the day and that it would not be cost effective for me to pay them to make double the amount of trips because they had too small of a truck. I agreed to reschedule for Monday the 20th at 8am. We were also promised by the crew that we would not be charged for the uhaul that day. We took time off work and so did our friends and family that were going to help,. We didn't have any of our computers or tv's set up for the cable and internet That was to be installed that day in our new place. We had ALL of our belongings packed and were left with no choice but to live out of boxes a couple of days. While it was disappointing we accepted these facts and hoped to move forward. Wanting to confirm that we were getting a refund from Craig we called him and he immediately got defensive and raised his voice after one sentence was gotten out of my mouth . He then hung up after we said there was need to yell. I called him back and wanted to explain our frustration and again he got defensive and would not allow me to complete a sentence. He told us to take our living social deal back and they weren't coming on back on Monday to move us and hung up again on us. We are two women and I have never been so disrespected by anyone, especially from a business man that promotes being Christian. Shortly after Craig hung up his crew knocked on our door and said Craig just called them and said "f*** those girls we aren't going back Monday". At this point I am crying because I am so upset by the way we are being treated. The crew felt so bad for us they volunteered to move us on Their own time Monday at a way cheaper rate than 5 Star would of charged us. We appreciated the crews effort to make things right but didn't want to have anything to do with Craig or his team because we had no idea what Craig was capable of doing if he found out. Craig called us after the guys left and said he wanted to come to some conclusion to the situation but again could not control his emotions and raised his voice , I told Craig I would like a refund for my living social voucher for $98 since he said he would not be coming back Monday and also because he said "F*** them girls". We couldn't possibly work with someone so disrespectful and rude. Craig chuckled and said we would not get a refund and the voucher has already been cashed. I then said I would file a complaint with the BBB and whoever else I could just to ensure no one else would get treated like us by him. Craig asked why would I want to hurt him and his family of 6 kids and his crew members and their families that he employs. My response was this has nothing to do with your wife and kids , it's about you taking responsibility and ownership to what you have said and done. He promotes being Christian but he sure is not walking the path of one. You may have been having a bad day or stressed out but that is no excuse to do and act the way you did to two women or anyone for that matter. If Craig would have offered us a refund for the uhaul that his crew parked in my drive way for 5 hours I would have tried to let this matter go, but his chuckle at the situation fueled me to make sure he doesn't rip off anymore innocent people. We hope you Learn from this experience as a Christian, as a man, and as a business owner. Good luck to you Craig,.

WOW... that about sums up this review. This customer is lucky i'm not filing a lawsuit for slander with all these false accusations and lies! I think the only true statement in this whole review is that she found us on living social. It would take me well over an hour to respond to these ludicrous accusations. I'm very tempted to jump in and react to these comments, but i certainly don't want to say anything that i will later regret and i certainly don't want a confrontation. Will it really solve the problem that i claim innocent in the matter, a point of view which is counter to the customers? I think it will most likely only inflame the argument. So with that said, i think we are going to have to agree to disagree in this case and i will drop it. Is it satisfying? Absolutely not, but at the end of the day there are only so many battles one can fight in life. It’s very sad when this type of situation comes up. We strive to provide Five Star Service at EVERY job we undertake. Unfortunately, this customer is making us out to be the bad guy. Five Star Moving has been in business for 12 years. We are a Christian Family owned business and take great pride in our work ethic. My company is based on trust and integrity. Our reputation is impeccable. We have 200+ glowing testimonials on varies web sites such as uhaul moving helper, our many A rating reviews on Angie’s List and the 75+ reviews people have left on our own personal web site. Obviously we cannot please every single person, but these blatant lies and attempts to slander our good name are malicious, scandalous and downright wrong. It is our sincere hope that readers will see this situation for what it is; a big malignant lie. The damages inflicted by gossip or slander can be severe. It is not by accident that scripture addresses gossip and the dangers that it can inflict. When Solomon wrote the Proverbs, he included the seven things the Lord hates. Among them, "A false witness who utters lies" (Proverbs 6:19) It's very unfortunate that Angie's List is unable to differentiate who is being truthful and who is not, but we refuse to let one persons false accusations ruin our good name. Our reputation goes far beyond our name. More than half of our customers have either moved with Five Star before, or have been recommended to us by satisfied customers. We hold ourselves to the high standards of quality and service that our customers demand.

OH MY! Where do I start. Setting the date, time and rental was a snap! Even during the hectic holidays! The three movers, John, Daniel and Chad were punctual and professional in every way. All my items, whether it was and old beat-up wall unit, or and old classic stereo from the 60's, everything was treated like gold. So, nothing was broken, lost or anything else. My husband and I were so impressed and thankful for the service we received from Five Star Moving! We had a lot of heavy furniture that needed to be loaded and moved into our new home, and Richard, Steve and Favian should up right on time and couldn't have been more efficient and professional. They made sure to take great care of our stuff, and also stayed later at our request to help us unload everything off the truck. We could NOT have done the move without them. The three guys that were provided worked very hard. They were a well oiled machine, each having a specific job that they went about doing with a purpose. They worked well together and were very conscious of our stuff and treated it as their own.
Description of Work: Three guys were provided for what turned out to be 12 hours. They picked up a large Uhaul truck that I scheduled. They wrapped and loaded furniture and boxes. They drove the truck to our new address and unloaded the truck. It took two loads to get evrything moved.

An absolutely a horrible experience. Avoid at all cost. Many of my possessions were damaged, or came up missing. They deny everything and made no effort what so ever to replace anything. Bed moved without the provided mattress cover. Clothing taken out of my dresser and thrown on my bed for no reason. Destroyed my new water heater. These guys are dishonest, liars and take no responsibility for any of your possessions. All they want is to throw your stuff in a U-haul truck and then throw your stuff anywhere they deem fit at the moment. YOU have to rent a U-haul truck for them. They even wanted me to pick it up for them. Five star? Not even. Ten question mark. Some photos provided to give some idea of the level of service they provide. This is how they treat a disabled cancer patient, you can imagine how they may treat you and your possessions. All tolled up, they charged me $425.00 in cash for the LOCAL move, $124.73 on my Visa for the U-haul truck and caused 100s in damages.

I am absolutely appalled that this customer would actually downright lie about what took place on his moving day. We are a Christian family owned company and have been in business for 11 yrs now and I have never come across a customer like this gentleman. We bent over backwards for this customer, especially since he was a disabled cancer patient. I will respond to each and every one of his points and add some of my own. (1) customer “bed was moved without the proper mattress cover.” Five Star - I think this is the only true statement in this whole review. The mattress was covered in urine stains and smelled really bad. My movers almost got sick from the smell. Thus, we thought there was no reason to protect the mattress with a cover. (2) customer - “Clothing taken out of my dresser and thrown on my bed for no reason” Five Star - Dressers and the like are not designed to be moved full. Drawers that are full making furniture pieces overly heavy will also add the potential for damage to the piece because of the strain on it. The weight in the dressers drawers can put adverse pressure on the drawer’s glides which can damage them, even under normal moving pressures. We may also need to rotate the piece to the side or upside down getting it out of the residence or packing it in the truck, thus anything inside will be shifted around. Therefore all drawers should be emptied into boxes. This was explained to the customer in a phone conversation we had prior to the move. When the movers arrived the drawers were still full. They asked the customer if he wanted to put them in a box and he told my movers to place the clothes on the bed, so that’s what they did. (3) customer - “Destroyed my new water heater” Five Star - I talked to the customer personally on the phone regarding his water heater. I advised him due to insurance reasons we would not be able to hook up his new water heater. I did mention to him that if the movers wanted to do that on their own time after the job was completed, he is more than willing to ask them. I recommended my movers because I know my guys are VERY handy and would be more than capable of completing the task. On Sept 17th 12:44pm I received an email from this customer stating that we damaged his water heater and that he wanted a full refund for the water heater. This was my response via email on Sept 17th 5:58pm – “My employees were off duty when you personally made arrangements with them during off hours to replace the water heater for you. From what I hear from them, you offered them $150 to do it. This does not fall under five star moving regulations at all, especially since we already had a discussion on the phone in which I advised you we don't do that sort of thing due to insurance reasons. You have my employees number (since you guys have been corresponding via text messages) so i would deal with them directly going forward. This is the response I received back from the customer on Sept 18th10:31am – “Hmmm. That's strange. If they were "off duty", which duty is for officers normally, but they had another job to go to. Guess its their call. The water heater issue has been solved.” So this customer wanted us to give him a full refund for the water heater and then when I confronted him on hiring my guys after the job was completed, his story changes and says the water heater issue has been solved. REALLY? (4) customer - “YOU have to rent a U-haul truck for them. They even wanted me to pick it up for them” Five Star - We provide a “labor only” service to our customers, which means our customer are responsible for renting the uhaul truck. We are able to save our customers several hundred dollars by doing it this way. Most moving companies who provide their own trucks charge anywhere from $130 - $165 an hour. We charge $100 per hour for 3 movers. In addition, some of those companies are that high for only 2 movers AND they charge more on weekends. Our prices are the same 7 days a week. The customer knew this going into the job, that’s why he chose our service. We have also worked it out with the local uhaul managers that we can pick up the trucks for our customers and do all the driving AND even return the truck at no additional cost to the customer. This was laid out for the customer in our terms and conditions contract that we emailed him. This is what it says about driving the truck for him “Also, we will pick the uhaul truck up for you at no additional charge. The uhaul manager will contact you the day of the move so you can provide her with your credit card number for the rental.” So at no time did we ever ask him to drive the truck as he proclaims! He advised us to place them on the bed. The broken light bulbs. We never move lamps with the bulbs in them, obviously because the light bulbs will break during transit. We ALWAYS take the bulbs out and hand them to the customer, it’s company policy. The water heater issue also addressed above. That is also a picture of the old water heater!! (6) Five Star - What I find extremely interesting is that he didn’t mention a coffee pot in his review, since he is also claiming that his Cuisinart coffee brewer is missing. He mentioned this in the same email correspondence that I mentioned above. Customer -“I've looked everywhere and can't find it. It was last seen on the kitchen counter in my apartment and is a large counter-top appliance. Replacement value is over $200. I need my coffee maker either found, or replaced. If you do not, I will have no choice but to file a police report for stolen property.” I responded to his email with this response Five Star - “All 3 movers said they did not move the coffee maker. If it wasn't packed in a box, they would not have loaded it on the truck.” We would NEVER pack a coffee maker on the truck by itself that wasn’t packed in a box. Once again, another lie! It’s funny that he hasn’t brought up the coffee maker again either! It’s very sad when this type of situation comes up. We strive to provide Five Star Service at EVERY job we undertake. In this case, because of his situation (disable cancer patient) we bent over backwards to assure he would be happy and well taken care of on his moving day. Unfortunately he has turned this situation around to make us out to be the bad guys. Five Star Moving has been in business for 11 years; we are a Christian, Family owned business and take great pride in our work ethic. My company is based on trust and integrity. Our reputation is impeccable.. We have 200+ glowing testimonials on the uhaul moving helper web site, our many A plus rating reviews on Angie’s List and the 50 + reviews people have left on our web site. Obviously we cannot please every single person, but these blatant lies and attempts to slander our good name are malicious, scandalous and downright wrong. It is our sincere hope that readers will see this situation for what it is; a big malignant lie. God Bless!

The move was performed swiftly and efficiently. All items were handled carefully with no breakage. They arrived ahead of time, very friendly & professional.
Description of Work: Moved furniture & boxes to storage unit, including heavy treadmill (which required some disassbly). Also included moving a piano, which was included in the cost posted above.

They were actually early!! Very nice and responsive. Items and furniture to be moved were wrapped and placed in truck carefully. Only thing that got broken was a dial from washer (older machine). The movers actually brought it to our attention and apologized before we even noticed. Overall, we were very pleased with the company and the timeliness of their work.
Description of Work: Provided 3 movers, blankets and wrap. They pick up U Haul and drive it to the home, load items to be moved and drive it to new location.

The move was done with military precision, from packing the truck to putting the bed together.

They did the job in 5-6 hours in two trips. The movers were friendly and cooperative. They did half the move in the rain. They did an acceptable job, but I felt that they did shortcut on a some things since my move was close. They did not have furniture covers/blankets. Some of my stuff got wet in the rain. Nothing was damaged but very annoying especially for the fabric couches. They were very good about taking things apart and putting them back together carefully, including a large king-size bed. Overall, price was reasonable. Took longer than I would have liked and would like the movers to be more prepared.
Description of Work: I secured the truck and the movers came to move me from an upstairs to a downstairs apartment, 3 bedrooms. Moved furniture, and a few boxes/bins. They did not move appliances.

They were there on time and were definitely hard workers. Quite happy with their work.
Description of Work: 3 men came over to help me move the contents of my 1,400 sq ft home. I rented and provided the moving truck. Most of our belongings were already boxed up...although they did disassemble a bunk bed that was to be moved.
