1989-Purchased a wood burning stove. We lived in that home for 12 years, and recall the stove being serviced twice over the years. 1990-Purchased 12 ceiling fans, including 3 outdoor fans. No service issues on any of them. 1998-Purchased gas fireplace unit for our parents. They love it. No service issues. 2001-Purchased 2 gas fireplace units, 6 ceiling fans. No service issues. Sold with the home in 2003. 2003-Purchased 3 gas fireplace units and 8 ceiling fans for our new home built. We use all of them to this day. 2004-Purchased hot tub - serviced 2 to 3 times over the years, still use today. Always a positive service experience. 2009-Purchased hot tub for 2nd home - never been serviced yet. Works great. Love it. 2011-Purchased a Sun Power solar system through Energy House - Their crew was very professional, courteous and on time. Our utility bills have gone from $500 to $1000 a month, down to $150 to $250 a month after "true up" periods are calculated. It took me awhile to figure out how that works, but we get bills of $25 to $40 a month for gas usage, then one annual bill which sums up the difference of the energy we consumed vs energy produced by our solar panels. Bottom line is the solar system will pay for itself within 5 years. We are very happy with our solar system, and would highly recommend Energy House.
Description of Work: Energy House installed solar panels on our roof in 2011, and we have been enjoying the benefits of going solar for almost 2 years now. We have been buying products from Energy House for the last 24+ years, from wood stoves to gas stoves, ceiling fans to hot tubs, and our largest purchase in recent years has been solar. With the tax benefits and energy savings, it has been the most worthwhile investment we have made. We never considered any other company than Energy House, as they have proven themselves to be honest, trustworthy, responsible and professional for a very, very long time. As we have watched other companies come and go over the years, we never doubted that Energy House would weather the storm and survive the recession as so many others disappeared. The owner of Energy House, Steve Combs, is clearly a very smart businessman, and we find him to have the utmost integrity. He has many of the same employees today that he had years ago, which also tells us he is good to his people, or they would be gone. It feels good in this day and age to have complete confidence in the financial stability of a company you are investing a lot of your hard earned money with. Energy House has proven themselves to us over and over again that doing business with them has always, and continues to be a positive business experience.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are glad that you are happy with the decision to install a solar system at your home and for all the business you have brought to the Energy House over the years. The Energy House takes care of our employees just as we take care of the customers we serve in the central valley. We appreciate your business!

I had a fireplace insert that was not working. Energy House came here 3 times in one year and each time they charged me $99.00. They never had to do anything, it was just a service call, and it just kept breaking. I had them come back last week. The guy that fixed it was really nice, but the owner, John, he's the one that's not nice. He knew when he made the appointment that the panel on the electric was not working. He still had his guy come out here, charged me $99.00, they actually made me give a credit card over the phone before they ever came, so they could basically charge me. They guy came and he said, why I am I here? I said, well, I told John that you have all the records from the last 2 times, you were just here 6 weeks ago. I said, why didn't you just bring the part, you guys knew what was going on. He said, yeah, there was no reason for me to come out here. He couldn't fix it, it was $850 dollars. And then when we called the office and I spoke to John I said, Why are you charging me $99.00 when you can't fix it and you wasted your guys time and my $99.00. He had my credit card information already, and he charged me. I told him that wasn't right, it wasn't fair, and he said, well I have to pay someone for the service call. Well, he should have never come over here, you already knew it was broken, you knew what was wrong with it, you were just here 2 months ago. He just said, too bad. His guy was really embarrassed. If they would have ordered the part, there was no reason for Casey to come a third time. They should have just told me it was going to cost $850 to fix the panel. They had in their records from 2 months before. The service guy knew what was wrong and he said you are going to have to get a new panel. All the owner had to do was see how much the panel was going to cost and tell me. Not have his guy come over, charge me another $99.00 to tell me it was going to cost $850. He could have said that over the phone. I ended up having to pull the insert out and I just have a regular fireplace now because I am just actually renting the house I am in and the owner didn't want to spend the money. I still was the one that was spending all the money.
Description of Work: I had a problem with a fireplace insert from Energy House just last week.

Hi I'd like to first apologize that we were truly not clear although you stated you were clear in this matter. We will work harder in the future. After reading your comments I pulled your repair records, spoke to the tech and the service manager John (John is the person you thought was the owner). Each of your previous two appointments were for seperate issues on your pellet stove. You were notified on the second call your main board was failing due to it's advanced age. You were also advised when requesting for service for the third time that if the final issue was due to the a board issue you would be paying a service charge because you were advised of this before going to your residence. If we could still somehow get the stove to work, we would attemp to repair it. The issue was the board hence the charge. There was no other resolve and a final diagnosis confirmed this.Your final choice was not to replace the board due to the cost of the board. It is policy to obtain a credit card before any service appointment is set. We also service hot tubs and many times the customer is not home, by having a credit card it is billed once the repair is complete. Yet this is standard proceedure for all service appointments. This is agreed upon before any appointment set. After repairs are complete it is the customers choice as to how they want to pay. It is unlawful to charge a credit card without an agreement. It is very important, and we take all servicing and service proceedures seriously. We would be happy to discuss this matter at length and supply all necessary documentation for further clarification if you choose at 432-1500. Thank you.

I will never buy a single thing from Energy House again and recommend none of you do either. If you get a product that doesn't need repairs, you'll probably have no issues with them, but if you do, your experience could be every bit the nightmare mine is. I bought a Caldera spa from Enegery House 7 years ago. We bought it new and paid a small fortune, but we felt comfortable with the decision because supposedly it was one of the best brands on the market and would last us a lifetime. We've had nothing but problems with it every since. Over the years we have had pump issues, broken jets, one electric problem, leaks, shell bubbling, and we've already been forced to replace the lid. Some of this has been covered by warranty, much has not. While we have been unhappy with the quality of your product, most of these issues have been resolved by Energy House of Fresno to our satisfaction until recently. Last season we started getting bubbling in the shell and substantial leaking. Energy house charged us $75 dollars for two separate service calls before they identified the problem and the fact that it was still covered under warranty. They finally realized they needed to take it in to fix it, but broke our custom built granite bar in the process. They kept the spa for repairs for FOUR MONTHS. We lost an entire season. When we finally got the spa back, we were very upset with the quality of the repairs that they did. The patches are rough, unattractive and unfinished. We complained to them, but they were un-sympathetic. We decided to live with it since the leaks had been fixed. Now the spa is leaking again and there is at least one new HUGE bubble in the shell. Energy house said our warranty expired just a few months ago and will not be covering the cost of the repair. I understand they don't get reimbursed from the company if the warranty is gone, so I didn't get angry, I just called Watkins MFG. After they confirmed the myriad of issues we've had with Energy House, they agreed to pay for the repairs to support their product. I called Energy House to set up an appointment only to be told that they were refusing to work on it because I was "SETTING THEM UP". Setting them up for what? As far as I'm concerned, I was setting them up to make an unhappy customer happy by performing a good repair. Instead they made an unhappy customer livid. I called Watkins MFG and they are now trying to find me an independent company to take a look and perform the repair - again, at no charge to me. Even the manufacturer trusts me - they must have had plenty of issues with Energy House before. Stay away from Energy House. *EDIT* Just read their response. They are now suggesting I threatened to "blackmail" them? They should really look up what that term means. During my conversation they refused to service the product twice even though Watkins was going to PAY THEM for their work - then accused me of "trying to set them up" (which I still don't understand)... after this happened, I told them I was going to give them every possible negative review that I could and hung up. I have not talked to them since. Yet they respond to this review that they are work towards a civil response if I call them. Laughable. Energy House knows my phone number quite well. Watkins recommended I never contact them again and found me someone I can work with. Watkins has agreed to pay for half of the repairs with another party. I think it is likely that the service manager whom I talked to on the phone (and had argued with in the past over the quality of their work) lied to the owner about the content of the conversation. One note. They did pay to have the granite bar repaired. It was however a much cheaper pattern since Paragon no longer carried the kind we purchased.
Description of Work: Spa repair, bubbling and leaking and a variety of other repairs over the last 7 years.

We are truly sorry all negotiations ceased due to threats of blackmail for a gratis repair. It is always our goal to provide world class service and stand strongly behind all MFG warraties, as this is the reason we choose certian product lines. We work very closely with our MFG partners, and assure you we are in excellent standing with all of them, and have even paid for repairs above what the MFG warrants. We gladly accept all responsiblities when at fault as in the broken granite for which we apologied and repaired. It is certain we could have come to a resolve without being threatened. In this day and age it is not fair for a retailer to undeservedly "take on on the chin", and invite you to contact us at 559.432.1500 for a civil resolve. Once again when wrong we accept, not run from responsiblitly. If you chose to pass on our offer we understand and once again apologise the issue elevated to this unfortunate level.

They were great. They really listened to me, and helped me decide, and gave good advice. They showed us different options. We put a down payment on it and made payments. We got it at the fair.

Thank you Customer. Your "B's" make us work that much harder. Although we never apologize for price, you will be happy to know as a company policy when a MFG gives us an extra discount or incentive, this is not absorbed by the company. All discounts are passed on directly to the customer, thusly giving the consumer an extra discount. Thank you again, we will continue to work hard for you.

We are just seeing this report and apologize for your unpleasant experience. It is important to note the Energy House does not install. The consumer always has the right to hire a contractor of their choice, if they do not have a contractor we can help in this process. It is also to important to note, this contractor works for you and is not affiliated with the Energy House. Unfortunately the Energy House is not the correct recipient of this review.
