Description of Work: The contract had numerous phases, to be paid upon completion. We live out of town. We were told that three phases had been completed, and we paid for them. We travelled to Fresno and inspected the house. None of the phases were complete. All phases had to be redone by another contractor due to incompetent work. |The result was that the project cost twice as much as originally estimated by CVC as well as by the new contractor.

 + -1 moreThis is a follow-up to my May 8, 2014 review when CVC installed a new frameless shower and retiled shower and bath surrounds. I rated them a "A" for that job. I recall there were some minor follow up issues with Danny Castro prior to that job getting done but nothing major. I contacted Dan Castro in early March, 2015 regarding a minor issue with the shower floor drain and to get a quote for painting the exterior of our home. He came over a few days later with the tile man who originally did the shower and fixed the problem right away. He looked over the exterior of our home, took pictures, and said he would get us a quote in about a week. That is the last I heard from him despite several follow up calls to his personal cell phone and the office in the following two weeks. I ended up getting quotes form several other contractors and had the job done in early May, 2015 to our full satisfaction. We will be repainting the interior of our home in the future and I will definitely not be asking CVC for a quote.
Description of Work: Nothing despite several follow up calls after the initial contact requesting a quote to paint the exterior of our home.

He took measurements, but never called me back and much worse did not respond to several messages I left to get me the quote. I called him b/c approximately 3 yrs. ago while installing our windows, which we purchased through Lowe's, his team installed the windows and did a good job, at that time. Even repaired our laminate floors, a job totally unrelated to the windows, he gave me a decent price and did what we asked, but in this follow-up experience for having the courtyard built and following through with an estimate, he totally let the ball drop and I was disappointed.
Description of Work: Nothing. He did not follow up with me regarding an estimate and didn't return my calls.

Description of Work: I had a 2nd floor balcony floor that needed the floor redone. The original tile and wood floor underneath was pull and new flooring and tile layed. The crew and Danny (owner) were professional and did a good job at cleaning up behind them.  + 2 moreThey were very professional in all aspects of the work performed. They scheduled the work at my convenience, not theirs. All work was performed promptly and the quality exceeded my expectations. Recommendations were made as the work progressed and they cleaned up each day when they were done working. The workers are friendly and courteous and were appreciative that we hired them to do the work.
Description of Work: They removed and installed new kitchen cabinets, new tile and new appliances.

 + -1 moreDanny Castro's crew of George and Victor did a great job. The tile work on the shower pan, walls, and tub surrounds were installed in a very professional manner. When I pointed out an inssue with the slope of the shower pan toward the drains they completely re-did it to our satisfaction with no questions asked. They worked until their work was complete for the day and cleaned up each night. They had to remove the adjacent jet tub to re-tile arround it and then reinstall it. This also was done in a very professional manner without any parts being damaged or needing repair. The work was completed on time,on budget, and without any major surprises/disruptions. Costs of materials were passed through without any upcharge. Invoices were provided. The only issue I encountered was with payment. I had planned to use my VISA card for the various partial payments to manage cash flow. I saw on Angies List that CVC accepted VISA but when I talked to Danny Castro he said they only accepted checks (of any kind) and didn't know how the acceptance of the VISA card got on Angies List. Danny was also very prompt to be at our house to get his check when the various costruction phases were completed. Initially there were a few communication glitches as we tried to set up the job but in the end we are very happy with the finished product.
Description of Work: Installed new walk-in frameless shower enclosure and retiled entire shower and tub surrounds. Cooordinated the purchase and receipt of all materials once we had selected them.

 + -1 moreThe work went well with one exception. When the workmen arrived as scheduled there was a question of the color of paint to be used. Their understanding was different from mine. Because of differences in language we had trouble communicating and I could not reach the office for clarification -- I had to leave a message on the office phone. That's why the grade for responsiveness is lower. The final result was satisfactory.
Description of Work: Repaired the fascia around the edges of my roof and added/replaced a metal strip where necessary. Painted new wood.

Description of Work: Home built in the 40's maybe. Removed shower tile, and shower floor all the way to foundation. Replaced with tile work. Painted interior bathroom. Repaired problems with hardwood floors. Installed new shower door.

 + 0 moreThis company was referred to me and my husband after we had purchased our wood floors. I called the company and they set up a date quickly for an estimate. Eric showed up on time and was very professional. He was patient and answered my questions. He also made a few suggestions to save us money and time. The owner Danny called later on to verify the scope of the job and with a quote. The next two days he followed up with a written quote. We changed the scope of the job and Danny was flexible with us. A week later Eric and George showed up to do the work. These two are hard workers! They are very organized and thorough! They cleaned up after themselves daily. When a problem came up they explained the problem and had a solution. Danny stopped by to check out the progress daily and to make sure we were pleased with the work. While the were here we added on a two other minor jobs. Danny was flexible and had Eric and George complete the jobs. We truly enjoyed our experience with CVC and will use them again to install the rest of the wood floors at a later date!
Description of Work: Installed 430 sq ft of engineered wood floors, leveled out the my hallway floor, and did some minor repair of an exterior door that was jammed.

Description of Work: CVC re-modeled our kitchen and converted our garage to a family room. They did a tremendous job and you would be crazy to use anyone else. His crew has a ton of experience and when a few minor mistakes were made, they were quickly fixed. Danny is a pleasure to work with and the workmanship was top notch...cabinet making, granite counters, archways, acid stain floors, pantry demo work, popcorn ceiling removal, canned lights, finishing, interior painting, doors, and wood flooring...they do it all and we are very happy.

 + 1 moreI do not want to go near Central Valley Construction. Do not use them. Do not refer to your members. I was referred to them through Home Depot. They came in and measured wrong so now my cabinet on the floor is not level. It is delaying everything from the get go. When they did come they littered on my couch. They were not respectful of my home. When I told the boss about it he wanted to see the evidence and went through my trash. When I noticed the cabinet was uneven I notified Home Depot they contacted him and he came back out. He told Home Depot the problem was fixed and it was not, so I had to contact Home Depot again. They are the most unprofessional people I have ever seen and the most unfriendly. They have put holes in my walls that were freshly painted. They drew black marks on the wall. The list goes on and on.

Description of Work: I had Danny from Central Valley Construction, that's the name of the company. I've already used it for about twelve to fifteen times for the last 5 years. All went well except the first day, LOWE'S delivery truck broke down and the supplies could not be delivered that day,it had to be rescheduled for a later date. A few days later they were their and got the job done in a timley maner. They did a very nice job.
Description of Work: Removed old fence .Replaced it with a new 135' long, 6' high stick built, privacy fence .Hauled away all materials.

 + 18 moresee above! Dad's outside whole-house Shutters finally arrived and we decided that we needed Dan and Central Valley Construction to install. They called us back right away but were busy on a MAJOR kitchen and whole house wood/tile flooring remodel. As always, we agreed to be 'on-call' in case they could come by sooner than 10 days. As always, Dan called back and his guys had a break on that Friday. Wow - they also called 1/2 hour before they were to arrive to let us know they were on their way (as usual very professional). The team quickly went to work, did the whole house exterior shutter install, cleaned up their work and loaded up all the shutter boxes and packing materials (as usual) and the work was outstanding! Dad and I could afford to have all new shutters installed ALL the way around the home (even the rear of the home and the patio area) because Dan let us know when the Shutters were on SALE and his install price was very affordable - and best of all, the work was EXCELLENT! Wow - what a difference it made for the home's appearance - 'Curb Appeal'. This company knows we have 'as we go' projects, and are still willing to work with us and give us quality work. We have other upcoming projects and stopped working with other companies. ps...This is a 'hometown' professional Company of many years who has grown but has maintained their 'hometown' roots and values!
Description of Work: Work done in NW Fresno CA area - zip code 93711. Have a number of repairs/upgrades (on-going projects!) and Central Valley Construction has always quickly returned our calls and emails.They are on-time and on-budget, and are willing to review my wants/needs and desires and how to fit those within our Budget. No project is too small. Keep in mind, unless it is an emergency, the team is busy and it may take a week or so to fit you in their schedule. But it is worth it! You need to have their number on your 'fridge and also have them do the work for your parents - peace of mind! ps. your elderly parents will love them and you know you can trust this company and their team! Most recent project for them: new outside Shutters all around the home. Shutters and Install less than $600.00. Too hard for me and senior Dad to do alone. His guys arrived on time, always professional, work was excellent (again) and level, and work was reasonable and affordable! This company is also the main installer and remodeler for one of the 'big box stores' here in the area - you know Dan and his team have to be professional, knowledgeable, excellent, reasonable, licensed/bonded, and 'on-time.' Need I say more? Every homeowner, senior, and single woman needs to have their number on the 'fridge! We/I feel so fortunate to have been referrred to this company. Their work is excellent, their materials name brand - I can trust them, their bids are better than other licensed contractors (always better than other large contractors) and we get the same quality of work Dad's mid-sized middle class home that is done for their 'high-end' home owners!
