BEWARE!! I went to A&M instead of a "box" store because I wanted a professional job performed by a single vendor who could handle everything for me. I visited their showroom with detailed pictures and measurements. I selected a tile and received an estimate of $986. Although this was a lot for 60 square feet (the tile was only $2.18/ft.), I was willing to pay an "expert" who could handle everything for me since I knew nothing about flooring. I took two vacation days from work for the scheduled installation. Upon arriving, their installer informed me that he could not perform the job, since the demo of existing vinyl would damage existing "transition tile" that the estimator had neither considered nor ordered. Upon calling my A&M estimator, he said I needed to go to a tile store and purchase the transition tile, as it would take too long for A&M to receive it. He apologized and said he should have visited the job site first, but did not due to it being such a small job. He said that, at the end of the job, A&M would compensate me for the fact that I had to pay retail for the transition tile (as well as "schluter" which was also never mentioned up front). He was also apologetic that I had taken two days off of work unnecessarily. After the job was rescheduled and completed, I had to have the installer come back and redo the grout that was used around his repair work, as the selected color was too dark (he admitted this when he returned). He made me pay him another $80 for that work. When the job was finally complete, I never heard from A&M. I called them to remind them of their promise to compensate me for my additional time and dollars I had to spend due to their inability to assess the job initially. They changed their story to say I had created "change orders" that was not their fault. I asked them whether they thought it was fair that I had to spend a total of $1,302 for the job (initial estimate was $986), make four trips to a retail tile store, and miss a total of five days of work for a 60 square-foot job. They became rude and basically said it was my fault. Anyone thinking of using them should beware; go to Home Depot or Lowes instead!
