I did not use them and I was not happy with their quotation, the way they did it. That was during the summer, probably August. That was part of the promise when we found out the size of the job they elected not to quote. They said the job was too small. Concrete pave block renters. I was not satisfied with that one. I am not okay, I just wanted satisfied. They did get back to me. They did not do any work.
Description of Work: System Pavers elected not to quote for hardscaping & pavers landscaping.

The sales process was fairly high-pressure, though the salesman John was great, very pleasant and knowledgeable about the pavers, stones, timing estimates, etc. We give John an A. We thought the price was very high but we don't have anything to compare it to Regarding the landscaping and plantings, this aspect of the project was less successful. Definitely seemed not to be their top priority or top skill set. Up-front planning with John seemed organized. He showed us printouts of the types of plants he recommended. But then when it came time to plant, their "horticulture expert" had no hard-copy plans to show us. We expected a paper rendering of the garden with plants in place. Instead, we had to look up the plants he was talking about on our own iPad. Then we asked us what color we wanted where, and the project manager wrote down our choices. Seemed very haphazard. That said, several months later the garden is looking good, though we have made some additions and drip line adjustments. We were unhappy with some of the plants being so small it will take years for them to grow up trellises, when they could have used larger plants. We give the garden planning aspect a D, garden result a B. Regarding the hot tub, they get an F on all counts. The installation was done improperly and the guy had to come back and move it. It cost much more to run electricity to the hot tub than their estimate. They didn't give us instructions for use for our model of hot tub. After several calls and back and forth, my husband finally went to a local pool store and got the info he needed. The System Paver guys filled the hot tub with water without putting any chemicals in or instructing us what chemicals we needed to buy or what to do. They said "watch the video we left you" but first there was no video, then once they brought the video it didn't cover chemicals or maintenance, or our model of hot tub controls. It was a disaster. A month after installation we finally had it straightened out and have used and enjoyed it since. To do it again we would buy a hot tub elsewhere. The workmen who did the demo, paver work, stone work, and plantings deserve an A+. The 3-man crew was exceptional. Hard working in the summer heat, friendly, and their work was excellent. Our project manager Richard was great also. Very responsive and made several return trips to finish up lighting. So, overall a mixed bag but we are happy when we go in the back yard, so it was successful an we would use System Pavers again.
Description of Work: In our small (~750 square feet) back yard, they demo'd an old wooden deck, old patio, and lawn, and installed a stone deck, paver patio, paver walkways, planned and planted softscaping, and installed a hot tub.

After weeks of waiting patiently for the transformer to arrive (which was no fault of System Pavers) my project manager called ahead and informed me that he could do the installation on Thursday if that was okay with me. We agreed and the project manager showed up and installed the lighting together with the transformer. One of the light diffusers was broken but the project manager assured me that he would order a replacement and return to install it. The professionalism with which the project manager went about the installation was commendable. He completely cleaned up the area upon completion of the installation. I also noticed that the downpayment which I gave him more than one month ago had not been cashed which it was noted that the payment would not be cashed until all the work had been completed satisfactorily. That was a big plus for me and I would highly recommend this company for others who are interested in landscaping their property.

The Project overall went very well. Our salesperson, John, went out of his way to help us with decisions but was not pushy. All agreements contractually were clear and all modifications, deletions and add-ons were put in writing and signed by both parties. I appreciated and liked the fact that changes made along the way were well documented. The project started and ended on time as promised. The work crew was courteous and left the work site clean and the quality of the work was good. They were respectful of my neighbors and street parking. A communication problem did occur when the foreman was pulled off my project after day 2 to start another new project in the South Bay. I had developed a good working relationship with the foreman so I was very disappointed when this occurred. The Company did their best to make another supervisor available by phone and also for project checks as needed but this was not the same as having a foreman on site at all times as originally promised. With that said, I was very happy with the finished results of my seating wall and patio. I would recommend Systems Pavers to others but would also urge potential customers to nail down the foreman issue drum tight in writing before beginning their project.

System Pavers (specifically Richard T. and his team) did a great job of working around our scheduling, doing the demolition, helping with the design and coordinating the color selections to compliment each stone choice for the entry path as well as complimenting our house paint colors. They reseeded the drainage trenches so now they look as if no work was ever done there since the grass grew back. I think System Pavers was very professional in their work. They were very courteous and accommodating to various changes along the way as well as having to come back at least three times to satisfy my "whim" of the way I wanted the common entry paths to merge from each of our houses! Note, my neighbor and I originally met System Pavers at a home show and were impressed enough to have them come to our homes to hear what they had to suggest. We didn't look for competitive bids from other paver companies and I suspect System Pavers is somewhat on the more expensive side. I'm hoping this is a case of you get what you pay for -- it looks great now -- but only time will tell (and whether they adhere to their 25 year warranty). We did however use the System Pavers web site to access their map showing other installations in our area. There were many and we personally visited some of them, even talking to one of the satisfied home owners who had walkways, driveway, and back yard done with System Pavers. We also went to a local Calstone (the paver brand used by System Pavers) manufacturer/supplier to personally see the kinds of stones and their various available colors.
Description of Work: Both my neighbor and I hired System Pavers to do a combined project consisting of both our back yards, the separate private paths (along the sides of the townhouses) leading from the front to the back yards, and a common path from the front of each of our houses leading to the back paths. Prior to paver installation my back yard needed demolition of a decaying wooden deck and hot tub. We selected different stone for our back yards but the common entry path used my stone as a border around my neighbor's stone. A drainage system was added to drain water away from the back yards out to the street in front of our houses. This required burying (3") pipes in the front lawn leading to the street.

These folks were quiet, cleaned up at the end of every day. Really did not know they were there if I didn't go look at what they were doing. Worked efficiently and were most pleasant during the project. From the time I contacted the company and a representative came to the property, and the completion of the project, it was only 2 weeks time. Of course, there was a job that was completed early and they were able to put us on an earlier scheduled time. It worked out really well and would most definitely recommend them. The job took less time than expected and again, we are so pleased. Since the job was completed, we have used some of our old brick and what pavers were left from the job and added walkways off the paver design area and it looks so nice. The cost was more than we had budgeted but we decided to go ahead anyway. We had the opportunity to go out and price doing it ourselves and also looked at what other companies had. Of course, when we were trying to price it out for us, the 2 of us, to do the project, we underestimated the number of pavers, the depth to dig, the amount of sand, etc, AND the fact that we would most likely still be working on the project. Just adding the additional walkways took us one day each, but still looks great!! We are very happy with System Pavers.
Description of Work: We met with the representative to review the pavers we wanted and discussed the yard design to include these pavers. The design was reworked with our input for suggestions. They were most receptive of this. The workers dug up the yard and cleared the roots and remaining lawn from the back yard, They moved and capped some of the existing sprinkler heads, replaced one that was broken, placed the dug out soil from the patio area to areas that my husband desired for future use in the garden. All additional weeds, roots, and debris was removed from the property by the company. We were asked whether we wanted the stones placed on a straight or diagonal before they were placed to be sure of design we desired. The manager of the team was in constant contact daily requesting follow-up from us. The pavers were placed and are beautiful!

I would never recommend them to anybody and I would never use them again. I actually signed a contract to have the work done in October 2011. I meet the guy and he was able to talk me into stuff that I did not really want, citing that it was a regulation. They did the first part of the project and broke it up into two sections. They did the first part. They did the front steps and said he didn’t like it. I had a second wall built it was more than it was allowed without a permit, so we had to get a permit. It took them over a year to get the permit and the guy who actually did my first estimates and did all the paper works, left the company in the middle of the process. So, that took a lot longer. The second wall didn’t get done until February 2013. The drainage is not adequate. The kind of just slopped it together and they just wanted to get out of here. They said they only have the rectangular steps. My wife called them and wanted to have it round then he calls me up and starts about I should have got it in writing. I am assuming that they know what they were talking about. They did it round and it doesn't stick out that far. Then he was making remarks that I should have got it in writing. Obviously he doesn't know what he was talking about. Actually the work was not that bad. They were little expensive.

They quoted me $48000. It was a terrible experience. They used high-pressure sales, the guy was at my house for about 4 hours and I had to ask him to leave. They didn’t provide anything, they advertise like crazy on the radio, that they do a nice design on their computer and none of that was done. In fact, they never really note down the quote and left it with me whereas the other company I am going to use, sent me an email with the actual quote, with what they were going to do but System Pavers never did that. They told me the price was only for me for that day and if I didn’t use it then, they would not have the offer anymore, so he was just using high-pressure sales technique. He miss measured the square footage of the backyard by 500 meters; he gave me a quote for 500 meters high. They did do a follow up with a survey themselves, so that I know that they check on their sales guys and so I gave my feedback. With the sales experience I had with them, I would never hire them. He was even late for the appointment. I had asked them specifically if they did the work themselves or they contract it out, all their employees are sales people, and they contract all of their work out to contractors, which was one of the things that turned me off. It was not a good experience at all with them.

The sales person was very nice, but was very hard sale. She was not planning to leave our house without a sale. I finally relented, because System Pavers offered financing. My mistake was not to have multiple bids. The project manager offered to put in a drainage system from the downspouts under the new pavered patio for an additional $1700. I agreed. He explained that he would have charge an additional $700. to take out the concrete due to some wire. I told him that most concrete that I knew was laid with some wire, he agreed not to charge me extra. They had to drill a hole for my gate, and it wasn't correct at first. They capped one of the downspouts with plastic and string. I found the plastic coming out of the ground. I phoned the project manager, and he said that they knew about the cap, and was planning to fix it. I was thinking you could have been honest with me. Over all I was not all that impressed. I feel the price was about $5,000 overboard when speaking with a friend that had a recent paving job from Hanna pavers.

It went badly from beginning to end! Design and Contract - I signed the contract for 21K, the counter top was to be granite. A month later still no start date because the designer wanted me to go with a different counter top (cheaper) because the granite was too expensive. I offered to null and void the contract but the company wanted to go ahead to include the granite. Day 1. Crews turns up for work, three hours later they left, without turning my water back on. No problem I turned the mains water back on only to flood the back yard because the crew had left broken sprinkler pipes in the ground. Called them back to fix the pipes so that I could turn my water back on. Day 2. Another 3 hour day because the stone wasn't going to be delivered until 5pm. Stone is delivered and left on the road now I'm in trouble with HOA who wants me to move it off the road. I assure them it will be removed the next day Day 3. Looked down on my back yard to see three guys sitting at the patio table just hanging out, turns out the project manager had ordered the wrong stone. The correct stone will take two days to arrive because it has to come from L.A. meanwhile the other stone sits on the road for two more days. HOA not happy. Four days later works commences again and apparently a crew member severs the electrical lines to the pool and air conditioning. No one tells me and I turn on the circuit breaker to run the pool to no avail. However I now have live electrical wires abound, I only find out when the next day the electricians arrive on an emergency call. Wait, now it gets really good. The granite guys turn up (8 pm) take one look at the bar and tell me the walls aren't level 3/4 of an inch off and even if they were level they still couldn't measure for the granite because the prep. hasn't been done. Now I take a closer look at the five foot wall that has been built and realize that its 5 inches short in length which means the fencing I have can't be tied into the pier but sits adjacent to it instead. The project manager tries to convince me that the work is just fine and finally I loose it and called the head guy to come to the job site . He does and immediately agrees with me and finally I get some quality work.... for a while. I could go on and on but I think everyone has the picture. System Pavers needs to get back to basics, no one cares about African safaris and free landscaping lights. The project manager was more of an hindrance than a help, the crew didn't respect him and took every short cut they could. Two months later I'm still cleaning up nails and concrete left behind. .
Description of Work: The contracted project was to build an outside bar using stone and install a granite counter top. Also to build a small retaining wall and a five foot wall to replace the metal fence and gate.

I'll start off with the minor negative since it occurred at the very outset. We called System Pavers after receiving a mailing regarding a promo they were having. The person I spoke with was pretty pushy, and said that it was very important that my husband be home during the consultation. I pushed back, and told her that I wasn't in the market for a timeshare, and if that's what the presentation was going to be, then we could cancel it right then and there. She quickly retracted her statement, and scheduled the appointment without the "both spouses home" requirement. I received a call the day before the appointment as a courtesy reminder. We went through the same husband at home, me balking and threatening to cancel, and their retraction game. The day of the appointment was different. I had wanted, a banded concrete style, but was concerned about the concrete breaking up again (I joked that you needed a 4-wheel drive to get in my driveway due to roots and the minor shakers that broke the cracks up further.) When I told Dan, the sales rep, what I had in mind, he skipped right to a design he thought I would like. He let me browse some of the other photos, but I really loved what he had presented. Our very large walkway had pavers that were installed approximately 8-10 years ago. They were gorgeous when we moved in. After 8 years of living here, however, they were uneven, lifting, and the edge pavers were breaking away. They needed to be replaced or have some serious repair work. Dan showed me the plastic guides used to hold the pavers evenly, and said that that was a common installation, but it started to break down after 10 years or so, which was the cause of our problems with the walkway. After Dan and I agreed on a design, we looked at some samples of stone. At that time, my husband drove up. Dan worked up the pricing, my husband was satisfied with what we were proposing, and we signed the contract. (On a side note, my husband trusts me and I trust him. Although we like to be involved, we both are comfortable with either of us making these decisions alone.) The workers showed up on time, were very polite and it was obvious that they take pride in what they do. They originally said the project would take 4 days, but they were finished in 3. The design included a little cutout for plants, and "just in case", they ran a water pipe underneath the pavers so we could install irrigation if we wanted. This was never discussed, because neither I nor my husband thought about it. Thank goodness they knew what they were doing. The project was completed on a Friday night, and I was having guests over. When my friends walked up and saw our new driveway and walkway, they ooh'd and ahh'd. Except for those first two calls, our experience has been nothing but pleasant. Richard, our project manager, was professional and courteous. The three gentleman working on the project were careful and conscientious. Perhaps System Pavers is more expensive than smaller companies, as one reviewer stated. But we had to replace one job already. We didn't want to have to replace another.
Description of Work: Removal of concrete driveway and walkway pavers. Replaced with all new decoratively designed pavers.
