I don't have much of a choice for high speed Internet, land line and telephone service in a bundle where I live in San Francisco. ATand T does not serve this area and I didn't check out Verizon. It may take a long time to get through to technical help but once you get through the do an adequate job. I wouldn't continue using them if they didn't have a monopoly in the area.
Description of Work: I use Comcast for Internet, land line and telephone service. I contacted them when I had a technical problem with my Internet. They walked me through getting back on the Internet via telephone.

The outage originated in street junction box - the connection from the main box to my home was damaged with all service lost for 24 hours 'til Comcast got a rep. out to repair it. That went fine. However, I discovered shortly after the rep left that the internet portion had failed. This started the following fiasco: it took no less than 7 hours and 12 calls to the Comcast customer "service" line (1-800-COMCAST) to resolve. There is NO way to get back to the same person who starts working the problem once the original call ends, each time you call back to the Comcast number, a different tech (or supervisor) in a different location answers; Missouri, Texas, Winnipeg, Edmonton. If a call is interrupted - via a reset of the main modem or cut-off, the tech cannot call back. So it starts all over again.....ARRRRGHHHH! Someone in MI was FINALLY able to fix it. Run Away. Run Away from the bundled service. Go back to AT&T phone service before you are driven mad.
Description of Work: The recovery of internet portion of service after an outage that took out phone, digital cable and internet all at once. (We had recently moved to the bundled option that included the much-touted Digital Phone service). I figured the recovery of the internet portion would be no problem as I am fairly computer literate and can deal with DOS commands, TCPIP protocols and such. One or two calls to COMCAST should have fixed the problem. Instructions from multiple techs had me resetting modems, connecting cables, swapping routers, trying THREE different computers, resetting TCPIP, DNS, etc, etc. Every single person I spoke with was polite and professional but the logistics of the customer "Service" operation made this simple recovery a nightmare. If it wasn't such a fiasco, if would be almost humorous.

THE CABLEMAN GAVE US ANOTHER LINE; AND NOW THE INTERNET WORKS GREAT. THEY ENTERED THE HOUSE TO HELP WITH A SMILE. THE PRICE WAS RESONABLE AND WORTH THE CABLEMAN TO COME OUT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS EXPECTING TO PAY MORE.
Description of Work: THE INTERNET SYSTEM WAS DOWN FOR A WEEK, SO I CALLED IN FOR HELP. THE GENTLEMAN THAT HELPED ME OVER THE PHONE WAS GREAT. HE HAD A LOT OF PATIENCE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THAT MUCH ABOUT THE COMPUTER. SO HE WALKED ME THROUGH STEP BY STEP. HE STILL COULD NOT HELP ME, SO HE WAS GONNA SEND A TECH DOWN TO HELP ME.
