Description of Work: the contractor kept giving us a far away date for the work to be done. I then had to reschedule once, he then postponed it even further to date very close to the expiration date of the deal. I felt all along this was done intentionally. I will never use this contractor (ended up losing my money) or recommend him to anyone.

I scheduled my service call with Mark's wife, who was very nice. The day before the scheduled appointment, Mark left a message on my cell phone confirming the time he would arrive, and he was exactly on time. Upon reaching my kitchen, I was impressed that he put a cloth tarp down...I have never had anyone do that before! I explained my problem (that I couldn't get the old dispenser out) and he didn't have any problem removing it at all. He installed the new dispenser, and asked if I needed help with anything else. On that day that's all I needed done, but I plan some bathroom fixture change-outs for later this year, and I will definitely call Mark.
Description of Work: Mark Ameduri removed my old broken filtered water dispenser & installed the new one that I had previously purchased.

The coupon I purchased was for 3 hours of handyman/contractor work. Mark did a great job! One of the jobs I needed was an estimate for repairing or replacing my hardwood floor. Mark took his time, did a very thorough examination of the flooring and gave me a very fair price. Then he repaired a few "honey-do" items in the bathroom. When he had completed the "honey-dos" he still had about 1-1/2 hours left of the 3 hours that I had paid for. So, instead of just packing up and going on his way, he asked if I had any other things for him to do. I didn't, so he went outside and looked over the entire fence that goes around my property, doing repairs as he went. When he was done he showed me some of the problems with the fence and, again, gave me a more than fair price if to make the repairs and repaint the fence. Mark was very professional, cleaned up after himself and was just plain very pleasant. I will definitely refer him to friends and will be using him in the future.
Description of Work: I wanted an estimate on fixing or repairing my hardwood flooring in the kitchen and frontroom. I also had a few small jobs in the bathroom - a leaky faucet, a slow-draining sink, and the toilet paper holder was coming off the wall.

Description of Work: Mark Ameduri did some reconfiguration of a kitchen cabinet area for the purpose of providing a space for a dishwasher. The drawer and shelves in half the area had to be removed, a new cabinet wall set in place, and the space provided for the dishwasher. When the installers arrived with the appliance slid right in.

Mark was awesome. He showed up on time and ready to work. He repaired the three holes in the garage ceiling and wall. It took some time for the plaster to dry. When he was finished he patched up some plaster on a bearing pillar at the base of the stairs and more repair work on the kitchen ceiling. Mark worked hard, got the jobs done, finished in a timely fashion and I already have plans to have him come back and do other work!!

We are sorry that you want to refund your money, however when you purchased the deal just like the other 100+ people who purchased you must call to schedule when your ready to have the work done. The money you paid goes to Angies list until the work is rendered then we get paid.

It went well, a little slower than projected, but he stayed within budget and the finish product was exactly what was wanted.
Description of Work: We needed someone to build bathroom ceiling, to change from one that was open to enclosed. Mark performed admirably, he was able to keep the style of the original bathroom built pre-1950's, sometimes it took a little longer than he anticipated, but overall the work for this project was fantastic. Further work from this company is not needed as it is not in its area of expertise.

He was fully prepared, easy to work with and took care of everything efficiently and correctly. I even felt comfortable leaving him a lone in my home after I had to run out and get something. Scheduling was a breeze and he contacted me from the road when he blew out a tile on the way to me, so I'd know he was running a bit late. I definitely plan on hiring him again and recommend him highly.

Mark Ameduri, the owner, told me that he was experienced in tile work. I told him we had two cracked tiles on the kitchen floor we needed replaced, but since we could not find an exact color match he needed to take two tiles from under the dryer in the laundry room and put those in the kitchen. I wanted the new tile under the dryer so it would not be seen. He told me I had to buy a 4 inch diamond blade for his tile cutting tool to make precise cuts. I brought the blade even though it is technically a "tool" and the coupon only requires the owner to buy "materials." He also requested me to buy "thin set" and grout for the tile. When he arrived he decided not to use the precise cutting blade and as a result he cracked two additional tiles while removing the ones under the dryer. One of those adjoining tiles was right in the front extending into the space that was visible. Instead of moving the washer to get another tile in the right color shade to replace the one he broke, Mark left the space empty and said we were short two tiles to finish the job. Worst yet he did not apply the grout to the tile he installed in the kitchen since he said thin set had to dry 24 hours before applying grout and his time was almost up. He offered to come back and finish the job later in the week for an extra $45. That is outragers! First he was slow because he broke extra tiles, and as we found out from Home Depot for a small quick job like this he could have used "liquid nails" as adhesive for the floor tile and it would have dried in minutes. It is clear that he never intended to finish the job within the three hour time limit. That was very unprofessional and we would not use him again.

Yes Im experienced with laying tile thats why I told the homeowner we need to wait at least 24 hrs. for the thinset to dry befor grouting. Sometimes when you look at a job it dosent seem as difficult as it realy is unless you've done the job yourself. Removing tiles that have been installed to re-use isnt a easy task. Trying to fix a job that some else has done isnt easy.I only had what materils the homeowner supplied for the job , I would of replaced the removed tiles with additional tiles if they were available to me. I did ask the homeowner to purchase a 4inch diamond blade for the job as a material and I did use the blade on this job. I used a few differnt tools to do this job. I think with all the differnt load noises of me chiseling, grinding , chiping, and cuting the home owner didnt notice me using the 4in. diamond blade. After using the blade I put it back into the plastic continer it came in and left it beside the thinset and grout in the back yard for the homeowner to have. As far as a $45.00 additional charge to finish the job I think that is more then fare considering its a usual 2hr. minimum charge.

The ad on Angie's List was for a general contractor to perform initial consultation and manage 40 hours of labor. The "manager" was the labor. Mark was courteous and professional in demeanor. He told me he would send me a written sheet outlining the work to be completed by the next day. I had to send messages and ultimately call to find out he wasn't going to do that because I had purchased the 40 hour package. He recommended using a particular supplier for ease of use, a discount opportunity and better quality materials. Ordered supplies with him coordinating but they arrived late on second day virtually reducing my labor hours by 15%. Mark came each day that week at varying times to perform the work. Overall work quality was good but not great and he did not complete. He asked to be able to work on the weekend which we approved and on Sunday after 5 hours he left without communicating his status. We exchanged messages to coordinate completion and agreed to that following Thursday. He arrived reportedly @ 6 Pm and sent me a text that no one was home. No one had been home the entire project and the key was left under the mat. It was again on that Thursday as well but he either did not look or did not want to find it. Exchanged messages for the next day to have the work completed. @ 5:37 pm on Friday I initiated text message to find out when he would be coming. Indicated he was in Long Beach and it would be after 7 pm. Told him not to bother and that I was very disappointed with how this was ending up.Mark is a nice person but did not fulfill his commitments with my job. Having lost 15% of my labor to waiting for supplies hurt. Quality of work was okay but incomplete.
Description of Work: The job entailed framing a wall, running electrical and cable to the wall and opening up & installing a regulr interior door. The work was to include drywall, base, casing and insulation. It was for a wall about 12 ft wide by 8 ft high. three outlets needed to be run as well as the cable for a TV connection. I believed 40 hours was adequate for this work.

I called him before I purchased the $2600.00 coupon. He said he will be in our house within an hour. This was about 1:00 pm in the afternoon. After an hour, he called me and said that he will come after he puts his baby to sleep, within the next hour. Did not show up. Then he called me and said that he got a call for a plumbing job and as soon as he finishes it he would call me and come over. Never called me and never came. I gave him acall next day to inquire about what happened. He said he was sorry, that his wife had a baby, etc. etc. Finally he showed up, went over the job, I gave him the set of plans, promising to call me with a date to start. To date I have not heard from him!

After reading your review of my company without any services being performed and with no return phone calls I will open up that week of work to my other customers.

Purchased a Big Deal through Angieslist, for 1 day of contractor services. Mark proved to be unreliable. I scheduled an initial consultation which he had to reschedule at the last minute for personal reasons. When we scheduled the work he cancelled at the last minute for personal reasons and rescheduled. I had the house fumigated the weekend before our next scheduled day and called him 6 days before our scheduled date to see if he was ok with working on the house the day after the house was cleared for re-entry. He waited until after 6pm the night before he was scheduled to come to cancel...5 and a half days after I notified him of the fumigation. Rescheduled for a Friday that I had off work (because I wasn't going to miss work again for him) and he called on Thursday from my house wondering where I am and left a note (at least he showed up...nevermind the fact that it was the WRONG DAY). Friday morning (the day he was scheduled to perform the work) 7am he calls to cancel. Reschedule for the following day (Saturday...when I asked for Saturdays previously he said no). Waited and waited on Saturday, he never called, never showed up. I had enough, I requested a refund through Angie's List and emailed him to let him know I no longer wanted him to do the work and of my request for a refund. I tried to be patient and understanding because his wife was having a baby, but this occurred over a period of 6 weeks with excuse after excuse (in fact he cancelled the first work day because his wife went into labor...a month later he cancelled because his wife gave birth the night before?). And then to not call and not show up after cancelling so many times. I just couldn't take it anymore. He needs to respect his customer's time and work schedule. I had purchased the materials and taken 2 days off work plus giving up 2 of my regular days off and I still couldn't get him to show up (unless it was the day before he was scheduled to).I
Description of Work: I would like to describe the services performed, but he never showed up despite rescheduling several times.

very smoothly. We had to reschedule the initial date due to medical issues on both sides - his wife in the hospital and me with pneumonia. He came on a Saturday as I could not be off work any more after 2 weeks home sick - REALLY appreciated that. He looked over the list of projects I had and prioritized them so that as one thing was drying he could work on something else. The best thing was fixing my gate. In the 4 years I have lived there, I have had 4 other contractors plus my Dad and Brother-in-law try to fix it and it continued to come loose and scrape on the concrete everytime you opened it. Now it swings freely and I think VERY happy thoughts about Mark whenever I open the gate.
Description of Work: installed a medicine cabinet in the bathroom, upper and lower cabinets in the garage and added the countertop, rehung a gate that 4 other people previously tried to fix and could not get to work properly - yeah!!!!!, refinished and repaired the threshhold of my front door

I learned about Mark through the Angie's List Deal and it required him to come and perform labor for 8 hours. We had a lot of projects to do, and Mark was very diligent and professional the entire time he was here. He also made recommendations on what type of materials and pipes for my husband to buy to have everything set up for him to install. However, he actually stayed much longer than that in order to get all of these projects done. There was some unforeseen complications (due to our house being an old house) and therefore it made it harder for him to do the projects. Mark did an excellent job and stayed past the 8 hours to get everything done. We were very pleased with the quality of his work and would recommend him to others.

Ameduri Construction takes on more than they can handle, leaving them to be unreliable, irresponsible, and unprofessional. They do not stand by their work. Mark Ameduri underestimates the time required to complete a job, then bills for time and materials, leaves the job unfinished, and makes you feel like he is doing you a favor if he makes the time to come back. He does not show up on time, leaves for hours during the day, and bills at $37 per hour for the time he is gone. I initially called Ameduri construction to repair a glass sliding door in one of my showers. That was my number one priority. Mark said that it would cost $100 for him to come out to fix the shower, but that if I had other projects to be done, he would charge $300 for a whole day. That seemed like a good deal, so I had him come over to look at some siding repair that we also needed. While he was there, he said that he would purchase the siding pieces before he came to work, and that in one day he would fix the shower door (which only needed some adhesive) and repair the siding. We also noticed that a wood shelf that is outside a second story window was rotting, so he said he would get the 2x4's to repair that, and that he would bring a helper to paint the outside of my hot tub for $12 per hour. He said that he would come at 8AM and work a long day, until 7 or 8PM to get the job done. This initial estimate was done around the middle of May, but Mark did not know when he could actually make time for the job. He wanted to work Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend, but that is not allowed in our neighborhood, so we finally agreed that he would start at 8AM on May 30. He actually showed up at 10AM that day, left for 4 hours to "purchase the materials", and left by 5PM, leaving me with a shower door that had been disassembled, but the adhesive had not worked, and leaving me with pieces of unfinished siding. He wasn't sure when he could return, but when I was very dissatisfied with that, he somehow moved some other jobs around and returned the following day. On the second day he brought a different adhesive which worked on my shower door, and continued working on the siding, although he did not complete it. That day he put the shower door back on and caulked the metal frame that he had loosened to get it out. When he left on May 31, the job was not complete, and he could not come back June 13. During that interim period, the caulking he applied disintegrated because he had not cleaned out the water that had been trapped under the metal frame that he had caulked. He came back on June 13 and put some shims under the frame so that it would dry, saying that he would come back on June 15 to caulk that and thereby finish that repair. However, June 15 he didn't show, and he cancelled the following appointment that he had set to come back as well. So one month later, my first priority, my shower door is still not fixed. The siding job has been finished, but at three times the price he initially estimated, since he initially said he could do it in one day, and it took three days. The wood shelf - he spent a lot of time painting the wood on his last day here, but ran out of time to install it. Throughout the day he said that it would be finished, and then at the end of the day he said "I just don't think I'm going to have the time to install that today". Since that time, I have had another contractor come to look at it, and he said that the wrong paint was used, that it was not properly primed, and so the wood has bled through the paint, and it needs to be painted all over again. The helper to paint the hot tub - Mark called the day before they were to come and said that he wanted $15 per hour, not $12. I asked if it would be complete by the end of the day and he said yes, so I agreed. What I didn't know was that Mark would spend the last two hours of his day helping the helper, so the total cost was actually increased by Mark's rate of $37 per hour, thereby also contributing to the reason why he couldn't install the wood shelf that day. He then left all of the wood in the middle of the garage, obstructing the walkway to the door to my home. Mark told me that his wife is due to have a baby, and that she is on bed rest. While I am compassionate to that, I do believe that he then should have had the forethought to take on only those jobs that he could finish, not to leave me with something half done. I have two children that share the shower that he worked on. He said that it would have taken him one hour or less to come over and recaulk the shower. A dedicated contractor who values his customers would have found a way to clear that hour. When Mark cancelled the two days he had planned to come back to finish this job, I contacted him and asked for a refund, at least for the amount I paid to have him repair the shower door. It is now over one month since his first visit, that shower is not functional because the water will leak out of the area that needs to be caulked, and I need to find someone else to complete his work. His response was "reallly?". I do not recommend this contractor. UPDATE: 7/17/2012 The response below is not accurate. I have the invoice to show that I was indeed charged cntractor's $37/hr rate for painting in addition to the $15 /hr helper rate. Furthermore he alleges that I told him I was going to call Angie's List, when in reality I just texted to ask him if he was going to finish the job or to refund the fees so I could get someone else to do so. Finally, I never called to purchase a Big Deal, the contractor promoted the Big Deal to me. I wasn't aware I had to purchase this online.

Response from Ameduri Construction
Prior to the start of the job the homeowner asked me if I would be ok to meet before she purchased my Big Deal coupon. I accepted and met with the home owner prior to coupon purchase to insure she purchased enough days. I also explained to her that I had a full work load and that the work scheduling would be periodic but I would try to get the work done A.S.A.P. and she agreed. I arrived at the job on the date we decided but noticed the home owner hadn’t purchased the coupon. I asked her, did you purchase the coupons she replied, I thought I’m supposed to pay you for the coupon then you pay Angie’s List. I told her no, that’s not how the coupon deal works. But since the deal had expired I would give her a discounted rate of $37.00 hourly with the same rules stated in the coupon contract. At that time I realized we needed materials for the job that were not previously purchased by the homeowner. I explained to her that I could go get materials however as stated in the Big Deal Coupon the time spent would be counted as on the clock, she agreed. The siding needed was purchased at Ganahl Lumber in Anaheim and the homeowner lives in Newport Coast which with drive time and finding, ordering and purchasing materials is at least 3 hours. I also needed to find paint to match the siding I replaced which took another 1.5 hours. I don’t think she understood all the prep time that goes into a contractor’s daily work including; driving, gas, researching products needed and availability, ordering, purchasing and set up and clean up. Because of the work requested I really couldn’t give the homeowner the exact time it would take to finish each job however a rough estimate was given. The home owner agreed and the work began. Because of all my prior commitments with Big Deal purchases and a wife that’s ready to have our baby I couldn’t work the days the homeowner wanted me to work, and I offered to her my free days including weekends and holidays. The work I had done to this point was done correctly. The home owner stated in her letter to you that some painting wasn’t done correctly and the primer had bled through the paint but she didn’t realize was I had only painted one coat of the finish paint over the primer and at least one more coat was needed to cover the primer so it wouldn’t bleed through. The material the home owner says I left in the middle of the garage obstructing entry to the home was incorrect as well. The home owners garage was so cluttered with many items that there wasn’t much room for the small detachable staircase (2ft x 2ft) and 4 2x4x10 studs to fit to begin with. And the shower door did take two types glue to repair. The first attempt of gluing the shower door didn’t hold so I tried glue which worked. The caulking in the shower needed to stay dry for at least 10 hours before any use. The only reason the caulking in the shower would have disintegrated would have been if it wasn’t kept dry. The home owner asked me if I would paint the Jacuzzi. I told the home owner that we should hire a painter who could charge $10-$15 an hour. The painter charged $15 an hour and the home owner agreed. The day the Jacuzzi was painted I helped for about two hours but didn’t charge her for my time. The home owner and I agreed for me to come back and finish another day of work but the day before my wife was really having a very difficult day and I couldn’t leave her alone so I contacted the home owner explaining the issues I had. The home owner wasn’t happy with what I had to say. At that time she stated via text “well if you can’t show up the days I want you to I’ll contact Angie’s List and tell them.” I told the home owner sorry but my wife and child are much more important that a shower door and a wood shelf. The next thing I know the home owner reported me to Angie’s List and is demanding $600.00 to be returned to her. All money that was paid to me by the homeowner was for work that was done at my hourly wage not for jobs that were incomplete. I understand that she wanted the work done ASAP and I would like to have completed all work that was started however she was unwilling to work with my availability and then treated me and my reputation when I couldn’t accommodate what she wanted. At this point I understand she no longer wants me to complete work which is fine since I have been paid for all hours I billed her for and worked. Sincerely, Mark Ameduri
