That was August 2013. Now fast forward to today. My mother's garage door needs servicing so I immediately looked up Value Max Garage Doors with the confidence from my past experience of getting fast, efficient, quality service. Boy, was I shocked to read all the negative customer comments and the poor BBB rating against this company. It's incredible that it's the same company I dealt with eight months ago. While I had an 'A' rated experience, maybe my experience was the exception and I just got lucky; or maybe my experience was the beginning of the company's rebranding and they're trying to improved their performance. Whatever the case, I'd be foolish to ignore other customers' complaints and the 'F' BBB rating, and I am unwilling to take a chance. So I shall look to another company to repair Mom's garage door.
Description of Work: My garage door failed to open in response to the remote or from within the garage, so I consulted Angie's List for help and selected Value Max Garage Doors. The technician, Troy, arrived the following day as scheduled. He immediately diagnosed the problem to be the garage door motor and asked me when I last serviced it. I purchased the house two years prior, had not serviced it, and doubt the previous owners had it serviced. Troy removed the cover to the door opener to reveal the dirtiest piece of machinery imaginable. He also showed me where the chain has slipped off track and needed tightening. Troy replaced the garage door motor, tightened the chain, and checked to see that everything else was okay. He worked quickly, efficiently, and with confidence. Troy was professional, courteous, and friendly. I stood in the garage while he worked, and I really appreciated his patience in explaining to me what he was doing as he worked. It was a pleasant 'A' rated experience.

2/16/14 Called 7076564357 8665759050707 spoke to Tim was 10-12a window with 30 min call prior to Tech arriving transactions)got disconnected during call. apprx 0830 went to property 45min away due to time frame given, called back Tim said he didn't have caller id so he couldn't call back, changed time to 5-6p window no courtesy call to say running late tried to call 3 times 656-4357 phone was disconnected no longer in service finally located 866-575-9050 6p stated tech Troy would be calling in 15 min to arrive no call called back at 1843, 1846, 1853 no answer. tech Troy 916-873-3667 called 1904p would be there in 30 min but he did not know where he was at the time. needed remotes programmed Troy said the remotes did not belong to the opener but could sell me one for $89, needed bracket tightened 1 wheel kept coming off track Tech Troy replaced all wheels instead of tightening bracket $139. needed to have door repaired due to door closing and coming back up. tech said it needed to be adjusted and motor tuned up cost $159 tech threw parts onto ground pounding motor with screwdriver to get parts to go back in while adjusting bracket on chain part kept hitting the actual opener damaging the actual opener. after apprx 1 hr he said it was fixed when I went to close the door it was doing the same thing that I had called them to repair. Immediately tried to get techs attention, he drove off,I called number that he had called me from no answer no voice mail at his number or dispatch. 2/17/14 spoke with dispatch at 0727 explained issue he stated what I was telling him about the repairs were not documented and his tech Troy had been up since 5a and was tired. asked to speak to a manger said the customers never speak to the owner or manger I could speak to someone named Ed on 2/18/14. This company monitors their calls so I could not get through until 2/21/14 spoke to ED but actually sounded like Tim the guy from dispatch. Ed refused to allow me to discuss the issues, said they would send someone out for an additional charge, informed him I had contacted another well known garage repair company that normally does not travel north and when they heard what Troy had done, the amount he charged they came out recorded/video the repair, they tightened the bracket, examined the old wheels, said they did not need to be replaced, replaced a gear in the motor, programmed the remotes, and the garage works perfectly. Ed began threatening, screaming, and cussing at me. quite frightening. told me I had to give him the video. He refused to reimburse the payment. Owner Brian Martin has a wife, children, parents and family, I'm sure he would not like his family treated this way but according to all the Yelp reviews(a lot which the company has paid to have them removed lately)Brian seems to turn a blind eye to these behaviors and obviously must instruct his employees to conduct fraudulent and hostile business transactions. This company is very hostile, unprofessional and shady. They seem to think they can yell, disrespect, scam women and the elderly..and just scam people in general!!!horrible company!!!!! This business needs to be investigated. Forwarded to Better Business Bureau of California.. they already are not BBB accredited due to all the complaints and failure on the Company's part to comply. They have been referring everyone to the Attorney Generals Office and the media..
Description of Work: was called out to tighten bracken on garage door, determine why the garage would close and come back up, and remotes needed programming
