I obtained 3 estimates from painting contractors to paint the exterior of my house. Top Quality Painting owner, Nathan Dameier provided the first estimate. He was a little late for the appointment because he was finishing up new light fixtures for a previous client. Since I would have valued that sort of attention, if I had a problem, I didn't mind. Nathan walked around the house with me, and I took notes on what he proposed. After he finished he provided a written estimate. At the time he had an offer on Angies list for a $500 discount that he figured into the amounts provided here. I told him that I wanted very good paint, and that I would like the paint to last at least 20 years. Included in his estimate were the following services: Apply complete 13 step prep service. Cover and protect all non-paintables. Apply 2 coats of premium paint to all surfaces. Do a complete cleanup when job is complete. He proposed using Vista Paint (weathermaster, elastomeric) and he would charge $2,450. If he used Sherwin Williams ( super paint) the charge would be $3,000 (I checked and it is advertised to last for 20 years). He said that he had 2 paint crews, and that he visited the sites regularly. He also offered a 10 year guarantee against any peeling, flaking or bubbling. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and left booklets of paint samples with me when he left. I did not select Top Quality Painting, but it was a hard choice. Please see reviews for Oscar Delgado Painting, and Robert's House Painting for information about the other 2 estimates that I obtained.

Nathan and his crew painted the interior of one of my rental properties in a very timely manner. He said he could do it in 3 days, but at the end of the 3rd day which was Sat, and he realized they would not finish, he brought his crew back first thing Sunday morning and finished the job. Quality work and I would hire him again.
Overall, our experience with Top Quality Painting was very good. We'd love to be able to give them an "A" rating but to us the issue with the cleanliness of the painting crew (as we will explain below) is significant enough that we can only give them a B rating overall. The owner, Nathan, was on time for the initial estimate appointment and quickly got us a bid with a very competitive price. They started the work within a few days of accepting his bid. The majority of the painting work was performed over about a day and a half, and we were not on site to observe any of the work as it was being performed. Overall they did a good and uniform job of painting everything and getting everything returned to its pre-painting condition (ie, switchplates, smoke alarms, window blinds, etc.). However, upon inspecting the work with Nathan two days after his crew finished their painting, we noted a number of items that needed follow-up attention including some trim areas that got missed, paint spots on non-painted surfaces (i.e., hardwood floor) and dirt and debris on the floors left behind by the crew. Nathan returned personally the following day to attend to all of the items that we identified, and did a good job of taking care of all of the items to our satisfaction. We also returned that day to re-inspect after he finished all the corrective work. It wasn't until after Nathan left that we noticed paint footprints (someone with paint on the soles of their shoes) around the exterior of the house on the front walkway, driveway and street in front of the house. We did not contact Nathan to return to clean all this because we felt that the footprints will eventually disappear with time and weather. However, to us the presence of the footprints, along with some of the other corrective work that Nathan had to do, speaks to the level of care and attention to detail exercised by the painting crew. We are pleased with the final product and the speed and price with which it was done. But to our way of thinking, an "excellent" rating would be if we walked into the house after the intial painting was completed and found it free of things that needed to be corrected. We appreciated Nathan's personal attention to ensuring our satisfaction with the final product.
Description of Work: Top Quality Painting performed a complete interior painting of our vacant rental home, including walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and closets. All one color and one finish, as we requested. They also painted one exterior door using a different color and finish.

The paint job is excellent and beautiful. They cleaned up after themselves very well and did not pour paint into any of my sinks. They took care of it outside and didn't leave a mess. They even helped me pick colors at the last minute, which was really kind. They're very flexible and agreeable. Nice crew. Thank you, Nathan and crew, for your Top Quality work! Much appreciated.

The owner came to our house a couple of times prior to our selecting him. We were undecided about colors, so he brought about eight different cans of paint that we were interested in and painted them at various places on our house so we could see the real color as opposed to the color on the paper sample book. That was incredibly helpful in our deciding on color because the colors look VERY different on the house than they do in the books!!! His willingness to go through that process is what made us decide upon him. His workers were professional, and thorough. They did a great job in a very short time, finishing the exterior of our house in three days. We highly recommend this company.

good bid on some painting in my rental. The painting itself was a great job, although there were several smudges of paint on my bathroom cabinets I needed to clean off. The clean up left something to be desired as there was dirt tracked in that was not cleaned up and a paint can that was not closed. Nathan said this was because the lid was rusted on and the lid had to be bent up to get it open. Sitll, there was no attempt to seal the can. Overall, I was very pleased to get the work so nicely done for a good price. Nathan even had to apply a third coat in the bathroom and didn't charge me for it as it was not anticipated.

Not good. Would not contact this business again.
Description of Work: I bought the "Big Deal" thru Angies List. I had called this business and left 3 messages over the summer, but my calls were never returned. It wasn't until after I called Angies List Customer Service at the beginning of September, and possibly they had contacted him, that he finally called me and left a message. He apologized for not returning my calls stating that he had been really busy. It's possible that maybe he does do good work, but obviously he did not need my business or honor his "Big Deal" on Angies List. Unfortunately, I cannot give him a fair review.

Overall I'd say the experience was ok, but not great. The "deal" turned out not to cost me any less than I would have paid someone else (I got two other bids) and they were sloppy. It made me wonder if with these kinds of "deals" you get what you pay for; that is the contractor or business is overwhelmed with work to do and they might not be making enough to create a profit so they push and cut corners. The result were less than I expected and I really have to consider if I'd do another "Big Deal" again.
Description of Work: I did this deal with Angies list and then contacted "High Quality". took a number of days to get a hold of anyone. But he came out to the house we needed painted and gave me an estimate (to see if would fit within the guidelines of the deal). Bid was below the "deal" hours so we were asked if we wanted inside closets painted too. Sure, we said. We were given a date that his crew would come out and that it would take about 2 1/2 to 3 days. We were painting the walls in every room and we were painting the trim with oil based paint (because that's the way it was previously done). House is approximately 1,800 square feet and has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, living room, dining room, kitchen, family room and sun room. I contacted them because the deal does not include paint and they were nice enough to allow us to use their professional discount at our local paint store. I put all the paint they said they needed in the garage and left a key for them. They came in and painted in one day. No one called me to say the job was done, so I came over to the house after the 3rd day. I noticed that they did not remove any of the switch plates or electrical outlet covers and although they tried to be careful they did paint over most of the covers with a little bit of paint. Also, the painting they did with the oil based trim was sloppy and we have to go back with the regular water based wall paint and cover it up. The biggest problem was that they forgot to do the inside of the closets and we were told that they would come back in a do them (at no charge). I agreed and three times no one came. Then they came one day unannounced and painted 1/2 of one wall in one closet and said he was done. I had to do the rest myself, with the help of family. But getting the paint for the closets was no problem, they had seriously miss quoted on the amount of paint we needed and 7 gallons of wall paint and 5 1/2 quarts of oil based enamel left over. I figured that cost me nearly $100 extra.

We have just bought a new home and asked Nathan to paint the interior for us when we were gone for approx 10 days. We paid $500 more than the original bid in order to use Kelly Moore paint instead of Nathan's Paint (Vista paint) and to paint a ceiling. We returned home to find an absolute MESS! There was paint spatters all over the slate and tile floors, items were piled on beds and every single piece of furniture was strewn all about the house. It was late at night so we straightened what we could and went to bed. The next morning we awoke and looked around and there was paint on sink faucets, on cabinets, paint on plants and the TV. Paint brushes had been cleaned in the kitchen sink and a plate and glass were ruined from the paint. Where the walls had been "patched" you could still see where the patch had been applied. The paint job around the light switches was done in a manner you could see a "square" around all of the switches. They didn't paint the door jams...I could go on and on. We called Nathan right away and he came over and apologized and apologized. Said he had asked his foreman several times if the job was "cleaned up" and the foreman had said yes. Nathan said he came over once while the job was in progress but it appeared like he had never overseen the job at all. Nathan spent a while cleaning the floors and then said he would send the guys back over so they would realize what a poor job they had done. He wanted us to pay in FULL (except for $100 until the job was completed), we told him we would hold back $1000 until the job was complete. The guys were supposed to come over a couple of days later but instead showed up the next morning as we were preparing to leave. When they did show up at the right time they cleaned and did touch ups but to this day we see areas where they used a glossy paint to touch up flat walls and the places they patched still look patched. We see whole areas that were not painted or painted with the wrong finish of paint. The very last straw was that the workers left the sliding door wide open (we have 2 dogs and NO FENCING since we had just moved in). We told them once not to leave it open and then we found it open again!!! At that point I told them to leave! Nathan DID offer to come back a 3rd time but we declined. Nathan had not overseen this job at all and we had no indication that he would oversee any future part of the job. We were done! Needless to say, we had gotten an estimate from Nathan to also do the exterior paint job but we will be getting another paint company to complete that job for us. 9/17/12 In response to Nathan's response: We were NEVER happy as he indicates we were at the first walk through, the first walk through was the morning after we returned home to find the house an absolute mess. There wasn't "minimal" touch up..there was a HUGE amount of touch up and clean up...so much so that Nathan himself started to just clean the floor and saw the degree of splatters that he said he would send his crew back. The spills and lack of quality of the job had nothing to do with any previous painter! The WIDE sliding glass doors (the size of an entire wall) were left WIDE open...TWICE! that was the last straw. We were very disappointed that all Nathan was worried about was being paid the remaining $1000 which he sent his foreman back for. Having to call the boss out twice (having someone come out 3 times to make a job right after the fact) simply is unacceptable!
Description of Work: Interior paint job, walls and baseboards, 2 ceilings (one in bathroom and one in dining room) To use Kelly Moore paint (which we paid extra for) instead of Vista paint that is the standard for this paint company.

All I can say is our reviews speak for themselves, I have 38 A's & 3 B's. Sometimes you can bend over backwards to do everything possible to make someone happy, and it's never enough. For the first walk through I met with my customers at their home. They were very pleased with the job, their was some minimal touch up, and cleanup that needed to be done. Immediately I sent 3 great painters to make everything perfect. My painters arrived to the job on time, When they got their, their was post it notes all over the house. Most of all the things were from the original painters, regardless my guys took care of every area. The customer got aggravated because of the door not being completely shut. My Foreman apologized and continued to work. They were happy with the work, and we were almost done. Next thing they know they were being told to leave. If you look over our reviews, half of them are from this same crew. I have a total of 2 crews which are both great. I always take care of all my customers and personally make sure their happy. I offered to personally come make things perfect on this project also, and they declined. Thanks, Nathan Domeier (owner)

I received a quote just a few days after I called the office to make an appointment and the work was done the following week. Prior to the work being done I received paint samples. Robert brought them to my home and painted them on the wall for me. He also left the samples so I could try them out on a different wall if I wanted to, which I did. The work was done in three days by an amazing team of 3 guys. The first day they power washed the entire house and filled numerous cracks and holes. The house is only 18 years old, but needed a lot of patching work. The team was very nice and the foreman was extremely easy to work with. I was able to go over the whole house with him and make sure what he was planning to do matched what I wanted. I wanted the trim painted in a different way that it had originally been done, and that was no problem. We also discussed different colors for the garage door so he was sure he knew what I wanted. I had planned to stay home on the second day so they could paint the doors, but I had to go to work at the last minute. The team had no problem changing plans and painting the doors on the third day instead. After the work was done the foreman had me look over the whole house to see if they had missed anything. I fully expected to find something, but the house is perfect. I haven't found a missed spot or a drop anywhere. In addition, they left my yard so clean you would never know they were here. My house looks brand new. I couldn't be happier.

They painted exactly as stated in the contract and we were pleased that it included two coats of paint. We also included additional painting of the main columns and banister columns. Three painters spent four days painting our 3,400 square foot house and nearly one day was for preparation such as covering floors, furniture and masking other surfaces. We were very impressed on the amount of masking that was done to paint 8 columns between the first and second floors as well as the much smaller banister columns. The painters were very skilled as they painted the top of the walls without masking the ceilings. Our stairwell is two stories high and the stairs did not provide an even surface for their ladder so it must have taken great skill to paint the stairwell. The front entrance is also two stories high. They were very skilled in painting the bathroom walls and living room wall with the mirrors. The painter foreman also recommended a color for the columns and banister columns that went extremely well with the main and accent colors.
Description of Work: Painted all interior surfaces except for ceiling, pantry, and closets. Also painted the exterior main entrance doors and door to the garage.

I recommend Nathan and his team for interior house painting. They did an excellent job of prepping problem areas that needed extra attention. The painting is the easy part - ensuring the paint looks good on an 80 year old wall was a challenge that they took on and did great at. Enjoyed working with them, very nice people.

Everything went great. The scheduling went smoothly and the painters arrived on time. I used a Big Deal to get 8 hours for $249. Since I was asking to have a stairwell painted they sent 2 men for 4 hours. My hope was that they could complete the stairwell in that timeframe along with one wall that continued into our loft with no break. Both painters were friendly and worked quickly. About 3 hours in I took a good look at the work and was very happy with it so I asked the painters for an estimate of how long it would take to paint an additional wall (part of this wall also had 20+ foot ceilings). They gave me an estimate of 2 hours. I called the owner and asked if they could stay a bit longer in order to paint an additional wall. He had them booked but he quoted me an Angie's List discounted price of $80/hour for the additional work and said he'd see what he could do. He called back within 15 minutes to tell me he had made arrangements for them to stay. The guys did a wonderful job. Their quality of work, especially around the handrails was impressive.

Nathan arrived at my house by appointment promptly and on time. He not only asked me exactly what I wanted, but he was able to help me choose colors that worked best for me. Nathan took his time explaining everything to me and answered all my questions. Nathan was very helpful and professional through out the whole process. His workers spent a full day prepping my house. The house was then painted exactly how we had discussed. Nathan even came by the next day to patch up a few spots. I was blown away by the finished product. The painting was beyond my expectations. My wife and I are very happy. We have even had neighbors come by and ask about Nathans business, because they were impressed by his work. I would definitely hire this company to paint my house in the future.

They were running a special which we signed up for. We had some scheduling trouble with them...they were very busy because of the special. The owner painted one room which was fine, but then he sent over a couple of other guys to paint the second room and the quality was really sloppy. We just got done paying another painter $1,500, and a lot of it was to go over what Top Quality didn't do right. They left skips and spaces along the baseboards and the paint application was uneven.

Every once in a while a job might have a hiccup, in my experience I have always been called by the customer and notified. In this case I was actually called after the initial work was complete, and he specifically requested the same gentleman back to do more painting because he was so pleased. I never received any phone call informing me about any problems about the job or I would have came right out and fixed it myself for free. I guarantee to anyone reading this you're job will be perfect or you don't pay, don't let one hiccup lose you great quality at a great price. Thanks, Nathan Domeier (owner)
