They diagnosed the problem in the morning and came back to fix it in the afternoon. They were on the early side of when they said they would arrive (which was nice) and were very friendly.

I needed a repair on my Maytag dishwasher, The buttons and lights stopped responding and the release latch handle was broken. I contacted Maytag directly to schedule a repair. Maytag scheduled an appointment for a repair technician to visit my home on May 13, 2015 between 1P and 5P. On 5/13/15 Capital City Appliance Repair arrived and I explained to the tech the issue was the control panel buttons and lights were non-operational and the release latch on the handle was loose and broken. The tech took the dishwasher door apart to troubleshoot. Following that, the technician explained the power was reaching the control panel (good!) but the control panel will need to be replaced. The tech went on to explain that this would also repair the loose and broken latch release handle as the handle attached directly to the control panel. Great! The technician then wrote a work order for $85 service charge (for the initial visit), $95 labor, $210 parts and $17.85 tax. The work order included in writing that the tech found the control panel buttons and lights non-operational and the "handle broken by latch". I paid for the repair (parts and labor) in full on May 13. Because the control panel had to be ordered a follow up visit was scheduled on May 18, 2015 between 1 PM to 5 PM to complete the repair. On May 18, 2015 at 4:30 PM there was no sign of the technician. I called the number on my work order and left a message asking if the tech was still scheduled. I finally received a call at 4:45 PM from the tech who explained he was running way behind and asked if it was OK for him to arrive late. I did not have any plans so I agreed. The tech arrived at 5:20 PM to begin the repair and this was tolerable. After 10-15 minutes the tech installed the new control panel and the buttons and lights appeared to be in working order. At this point the technician apologized and explained he was not able to complete the work on the release latch handle. He explained that he thought replacing the control panel would fix it but he "guesses he needs another part". The tech said he would need to find the part and call me back later. On May 20, 2015 the tech called and left me a voicemail that he found the part he needed and that it was $40 and no additional labor. He asked me to call him back and let him know if this was OK. This seemed, at the most, inconvenient to me, but fair. I called the tech back who did not answer and I left him a voicemail that the $40 charge was acceptable and to call me and let me know when he'd be back. Several days went by and I did not get a call. I called a second time and left another voicemail. Again no reply for several days. I called a third time and left yet another voicemail. On June 2, 2015 the tech finally returned my call. He apologized for not calling sooner but he thought someone else was going to call me. He explained the part to repair my handle was in the office and he could go pick it up and complete the repair that same day. Great! 15 minutes later the tech called me back. He confirmed that the part was $40 but that "the office" was also requiring an additional labor charge. I disputed this and reminded him I already paid labor on 5/13 and that per his voicemail I would be billed parts only. There were several back and forth calls but ultimately the tech could not resolve this and I arranged to have "the office" call me. At 8:42 PM I received a call from Don. The first words out of Don's mouth were "Yah, I'm going to need additional labor charges to send a technician out". I explained that I already paid the labor for this repair on 5/13. Don argued that I had not. It was not on the work order. I disputed that and pointed out on the work order that the release latch was documented. Don said the part was not ordered and that was because I refused the repair. I corrected him and said I refused nothing, the tech made an error and failed to order all the required parts. Don then accused me of taking three weeks to resolve this. I explained I have called several times with no reply, the delay was theirs, not mine. At this point Don lectured me that this was his business and he will decide how things are run. He went on to falsely accuse me that this was my fault for refusing the repair and waiting 3 weeks to follow up. I told him this not true and it was unacceptable and if he refused to complete the service I paid for I would pursue resolving this in other ways. Don very rudely told me to "go ahead and I will win" and hung up. I was treated extremely badly and the owner is demanding additional money to correct his technician's mistake. Speaking with him is futile as he is very clearly experienced in talking the run around. I did not choose this business as I placed my repair request with Maytag/Whirlpool directly. This is one of their "authorized" and "certified" repair contractors. Shame on Maytag/Whirlpool for supporting such a dishonest and abusive business.

Description of Work: My washing machine parts were covered by the warranty, but not labor. The warranty service setup the appointment. Everything went very smoothly. They did need to order the parts, so a new appointment needed to be scheduled. However, it only took a couple days. Also, the initial service call cost was deducted from the price of repairs. I would definitely use Capital City Appliance again.

He didn't have the right one on his truck and had to return the following day to make the install, which took about five minutes. First visit was about 20 minutes long... Price break down included about $55 for the part and tax, $65 for the service call, and the rest for labor. The appointment time was a four hour period (1-5pm) with the repairman getting there at just about 5pm. He was pleasant enough but wasn't particularly informative or communicative... didn't seem to be aware of Angie's list...didn't particularly care. Obviously this is not his own business. I would prefer someone who is more vested in the business and who is geared towards repeat customers... not a one shot-who cares if you ever call again-attitude. So far the oven seems to be heating ok... I am hoping to not have to call this guy back.
Description of Work: My JennAir oven wasn't heating properly.

The Maytag Corp. referred us to Capital City, which is its regional repair outfit, to remove and replace the washing machine's badly mildewed gasket. Sean arrived exactly on schedule and was highly professional. He was careful to protect the wood floor when he laid out his tools, and throughout was quite friendly. The repair was essentially a warranty matter, so no cost to us was involved. Perhaps most helpful, Sean had a number of practical suggestions for preventing the accumulation of mildew in the future. He checked out the dryer and explained clearly and in detail why it was seemed to be running hot. No repair was required. All in all, a very satisfactory experience with an appliance repair, unlike some in the past.
Description of Work: The repair person replaced the rubber gasket/ boot on a front-loading washing machine and checked out the possibility of overheating in the dryer.
