Overall, from start to finish all went well. Kudos to Dan and Rene, who worked on building the waterfall. There was one other gentleman, but I do not know his name. All worked very hard. I saw the amount of work that went into it and the care they took at each step. The finish product is amazing. Do check with Pondz R Us (becoming Landscapes R Us). I appreciate all they did to create the waterfall I have wanted for awhile.
Description of Work: My experience with the Pondz R Us group was excellent. I am surprised by the contrast in reviews. I met with Marilyn and Mick (owners) to discuss my pond back in February. I was planning to have the pond installed when I received my tax return back. Marilyn was very good about letting me know when they would be available and worked very hard within my work schedule and time constraints. The two days of work went very welll. Total professionalism on everyone's part and it went by very quickly. Dan (landscaper) let me know exactly what they were going to do and kept me updated. We made decisions as circumstances changed and he was very good at explaining to me why we could not do some of the things I wanted. For example, I wanted the waterfall to be higher, but he explained that would bring the waterfall up to and over the wood of the fence and overtime it would rot the wood. He encouraged me to periodically check the progress of the fall from the house to ensure the look was what I imaged. The final waterfall and pondless effect is beautiful.

This company makes a good sales pitch, but once they have your money, their follow-through, customer service and workmanship are horrible! We had very high hopes when we first met the owners. Unfortunately, our experience in working with them was one of the most disappointing we've ever had. When we first met with Ponz R Us, they showed us a computer-designed plan for the pond that included a beautiful finish and landscaping. However, when we asked for a copy of the plan, we were given an excuse that "they had printing problems." I then asked if they could email us the design - that we would like to consider the plan and perhaps make some changes. Again, we were denied. And this is after we had given them a $600 deposit. We came to learn that the owner doesn't actually build ponds based on specific plans/blue prints. Rather, he claims that he is "an artist," and that he creates a custome design onsite. He said that he would work with us to make sure we got the pond we wanted, but that turned out not to be true. His actual time on-site was limited to no more than 2 hours on the first day and 10 minutes or less the next two days. This company tries to do everyting on the cheap. His hard-working crew were nice young men, but completely inexperienced. The most senior guy had 1 1/2 years of experience. The newest guy told me he had been "flipping burgers" until about 6 months earlier. We had communicated multiple times to the owner that we had a specific style and look that we wanted for our pond. We even showed him numerous photos of other ponds - attempting to communicate visually what we wanted. He gave us a lot of lip service that he could/would work with us, but then completely ignored our requests. For example, we wanted a more formal/finished look - with graceful flat stones surrounding the edge. Instead, he had the crew throw cheap gravel over the liner edge and claim it was complete. Within days of the construction being "complete" we discovered a leak in the pond. We were losing 3-4 inches of water a day. It took a week for the owner to even acknowledge that we had a leak - he tried to brush us off by saying the problem was caused by "the splash factor" from the waterfall. I called several other pond contractors to ask if this was possible. They all laughed and said "no way." Every company we talked to also told us about the poor reputation Ponz R Us has within the industry. Several people rolled their eyes and said that they frequently receive calls from unhappy Ponz R Us customers. Ponz R Us also failed to tell us that we needed to install a UV light filtration system to prevent algae. Our water started to turn green within days of the leak being fixed. We finally had to hire another pond company to install the UV light. Bottom line - don't hire this company!
