Hudson Appliance Repair

I originally called a none Angie's list repairman that I got out of my local Pennysaver, (Martin's Heating and Air). They where suppose to fix the heating so the clothes would dry completely. They apparently fixed the heating problem but broke something while doing so. My dryer began to make a very loud grinding noise after their "repair". After a stressful 2 mos. long story of excuses, they ripped me off for $150.00 - and I fired them.! Thank goodness for Angie's List and Joe Hudson! I contacted Mr. Hudson, he came out, diagnosed the problem, ordered a new part and viola! my dryer is fixed. Joe explained that the previous repair guy must have stepped on the part and bent it out of shape. You could see the indentation etc... He tried to reshape it but couldn't, so he ordered a new part. (he told me the technical name but I can't remember it) I think Joe was very trustworthy, professional and fair. He took my situation seriously and I appreciated his quick response. I also like the fact that Joe has a clearly signed truck (Hudson's Appliance Repair) and wears an uniform. Clearly this is a man who takes pride in owning his own business! He does the work himself instead of hiring some yahoo! Save your self some grief, hire Joe Hudson and get it done right the first time!

Joe was very nice, knowledgeable, and quick in making the repairs we needed. He asked the right questions before our appointment so that he would have the necessary parts on hand. It all went like clockwork. Very happy. Thanks, Joe!

Mr. Hudson is very responsive. Lots of communication for scheduling via phone, email. Was able to get an appointment within one day. Showed up right on time. Arranged to make appointment for times easiest for my schedule. Got the part and had it installed within two days. Cost was extremely reasonable. Very comfortable with allowing Mr. Hudson into my home. Would recommend him to all. I will use his services again if needed.

My Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator was running but not cooling as if should. It seemed like there was little or no air flowing in the refrigerator or freezer. Over a period of a week or so it seemed like the refrigerator was not cooling as well as usual an getting slowly worse. This morning I knew there was a major problem and that it wasn't just the kids leaving the door open too much. It was Friday and I was worried that I was going to face the weekend without a working refrigerator. I called Hudson Appliance Repair and left a message on the voice mail. Joe returned my call within 15 minutes or so. He said he had a couple of repairs before me but could be out in a couple of hours. He was here in less than that. Joe tested for the cause. He determined that it was a faulty defrost thermostat which caused an ice build up which in turn blocked the air flow. He also tested to make sure it was not the refrigerator's computer which I believe would have been much more expensive. He told me the problem, and gave me a quote which I thought was reasonable before he started the actual repair work. He defrosted the coils and replaced thermostat. When the refrigerator was clearly working again, he cleaned up the work area and asked if I needed any more help. The services were responsive, competent, professional, friendly, and reasonable. I was very happy. He's a good man.

He is really good and easy to work with. He did a really good job and he does the job right. He communicates right away with email. I would use them again.

He came out within a couple of hours of calling him. He was very friendly. He was informative, efficient and also good at explaining what he was doing. I received a quote from Sears and he was a third of the price.

He listened attentively to my description of the problem, explained the issues to me clearly, and gave me a great understanding of my options for repair. In a follow-up phone call, he helped me reach a decision to replace rather than repair. He only charges one diagnostic fee for a visit, so he was happy to also check out my microwave. It has a missing part that I don't really need (a cover in the light bulb area - this is an over-the-range type; and the light bulb fuse is out). Knowing that the repair would cost more than it's worth, he simply taped over the area -- good enough until I replace the microwave!

Over the past year, this was the 3rd of our 20+ year appliances to have "issues". We have used Joe Hudson for each, and will continue to use him in the future. His service is prompt, professional, and he has saved us a lot of money by not overcharging and not putting us in the position to have to replace the appliance. He is A+++ outstandling. Forget Sears and any other appliance repair. This is the way to go.

.we had had some heater connected work done and a wire was accidentally cut, causing the heating part_x000D_|of our oven not to work. Joe found out what happened and fixed it...

We used Joe for our freezer and was so pleased so when a burner quit on our gas stovetop, we called him back. He came out on Friday and figured out it was the switch... Said he had to order the part. Called us later and said he ordered the part and would be out on Monday to replace it. Came out Monday and fixed it in right away. Joe's prices are fair and he is great! We would refer him to anyone.

Wonderful! He was here within 15 minutes of call and the part was replaced and he was on his way within 60 minutes of first call! He had the part in his truck. Could not be more pleased.

3 Angie’s List companies were contacted to handle a problem with my Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator. While all responses were quick, service call charges similar, I choose “Hudson’s”. The appointment time was determined, with Mr. Hudson arriving on schedule. Troubleshooting appeared thorough with repair estimate to be offered after sourcing part. I did my research, finding the locally purchased part comparable with on-line pricing. The appointment was set for install, which was several working days later due to conflicting schedules. My repair was not extremely urgent, so I accepted the delay. The part was installed as planned. By the next day it was obvious the there was another problem: refrigerator temperature now to warm. Joe was contacted and a follow up date was quickly determined. The new part installation had slightly different wiring than the original which prevented the damper valve from operating properly. Joe quickly solved this issue with normal operation restored. I found Joe to be knowledgeable and respectful of my time. He arrived as agreed, communicated as promised and quickly returned to solve a secondary problem.

When our 2-year-old Kenmore washing machine started making a loud grinding noise during the wash cycle on Saturday afternoon, we called a couple of the more highly rated appliance repair companies listed on Angie's List, neither of whom could come out that same day. The earliest appointment we could get with either was on Monday afternoon. However, one of the companies said they highly recommended Hudson Appliance Repair, as Joe Hudson had previously worked for their company before starting his own. Joe answered our call himself early Saturday afternoon, and, despite having a full schedule, agreed to come out that same day after his other calls. He came out at 5 p.m., within the estimated time frame he'd given us. He ran a diagnostic and discovered it was a loose nut under the basket. He was finished within the hour. We found him to be very professional, and the fact that he was able to come out the same day we called him (on a Saturday, no less) was extremely helpful. He charged $79.95. We're quite satisfied and highly recommend him.

When I called Joe, I found him on Angie's List. He came out on time, was really nice. We all cleaned out the freezer. He was here less than an hour. Found the leak and cleaned the defrost drain. Offered to help us reload the freezer but we wanted to go through the contents. Any other appliance breaks, we are calling Joe.

The refrigerator portion of my refrigerator/freezer stopped working altogether. The freezer was working just fine. I contacted Joe via his website and left a service request for him in the morning as I had an appointment away from home. When I returned he had left a message that I returned. He was able to come to my home that same afternoon. He quickly diagnosed the problem, efficiently accessed and tested the two parts that were not working. He had both parts on his truck, replaced them, put my frig back together and had it running all within about 1.5 hours. He clearly knew what he was doing and got the job done. He also did not leave any mess for me to clean up.

I called Joe and he came to my house that afternoon. Before he arrived, I'd been searching on the internet, trying to diagnose the problem. I told him what I thought it was (silly me), but, after quickly taking apart the washer he said, no, it wasn't the bearings, it was the pump; the washer won't spin if it can't pump the water out first. It was worth it to me to repair it and he had the part on his truck. Wow, I was impressed as he repairs all kinds of things, not just washers. Joe is very professional and knows his stuff. Just let him work and he will give you an honest job at a fair price.

The first thing he did was to replace our computer circuit board, which had shorted out. That got our freezer working again, and it looked like the refrigerator was also cooling again. When he left, he said to give it 12 hours or so, and it would be cooling normally again. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The freezer was working, but the refrigerator side was not cooling enough. When I called, Joe came right back out, and this time replaced the sensors in the refrigerator and the freezer both. He did not charge for the service call, just the parts. That seemed to do the trick, but a day later, things were still not working. Another call - and again, Joe came right out the next day, and replaced the damper - this time it was at no charge. To make a long story short, nothing he tried got our refrigerator working again. We both agreed that I should get a refund - minus the original service charge - and I thought that was fair. As it turned out, I ended up buying a new refrigerator - which I had hoped to avoid. But the cost of tearing the old refrigerator apart and replacing a worn out compressor (a $800 estimated cost) made no sense. At least Joe Hudson's service made me feel like I had done all that was possible to save this old appliance. I feel he was very honest with me.

Joe came out to recheck, cleaned our sink trap and did not charge. He was very nice.

I called late Friday afternoon and he said he was available Saturday morning. He called before he came allowing me and my husband to move the car from garage and tidy up a bit. He looked the dryer, asked a few questions and fixed the problem. He works on large applicances and we will call him the next time we need that sort of repair.

Dryer was not working, so worker came to find problem. Visit for estimate was $79.95, a bit high for an estimate. However he discovered that the problem was with the circuit breaker, not the dryer. Had to have an electrician come to repair.

Joe answered the phone personally no voice mail! Called 30 minutes before arriving and showed up on time. Very pleasant to work with. Checked out our Whirlpool oven door that stayed locked after using the self cleaning function. Turns out the door lock switch solenoid is broken, which would not allow the oven door to oven. Joe removed a few parts and was able to get it unlocked. It requires a new solenoid and lock assembly IF we want to use the self clean function in the future. About $300 to replace for parts and labor. We may replace the entire oven/microwave wall unit, so we declined to replace the switch/solenoid assembly for now. Oven door works great, just can't use self clean function or the door will lock and not unlock after the self clean is completed. No biggie... we just won't use this feature. Joe did a great job and was very easy to work with and service call was $80, very reasonable. We recommend Hudson Appliance Repair and will use him again. Thanks Joe

I called the morning of the 19th, he was here in one hour. He completed the job in one hour and was very, very professional.

We noticed our 20 year old dryer was making a loud squeaking sound and worried the bearings were going. I called Hudson Appliance late on a Friday afternoon and was able to schedule an appointment for the following day. He called 20 minutes before the appointed time, arriving at our house exactly on time. The repair required an additional part which he came back at no additional service charge the following Tuesday to install. We were very pleased with his knowledge and the service quality. He explained the entire problem and the fix he was doing in simple terms. I would recommend his service to anyone, and will definitely use him again. I tried other service companies but none would come out as quickly as Hudson.

He was great! He showed up when he said he would, after calling him just one hour prior. He is extremely cordial and very helpful. He was also very quick, while doing a great job and was very professional. It was very obvious that he knew exactly what he was doing. He gave massive attention to detail and was extremely informative in regards to things I could handle myself without having to pay someone to have it repaired. He showed me how to do a factory reset if I expereince the same problem. He simplified everything for me. He was just marvelous. I was recommend him extremely highly.
