Our house burnt to the ground on October 2007 while we watched from our pool. Our home was located on top of a ridge top with a very narrow lot and steep slopes both sides. We went through four designs before we found the correct architect. Our third designer was hired only to shrink the second design that was too large and this company took it upon themselves to start excavating our lot in August 2008 without asking us or getting a permit or a contract. The damages done were extreme. This company relocated the massive boulders found on our granite hilltop on the northern edge of our lot and Vinje & Middleton Engineers report declared this rock pile as a major rock slide hazard and our lot was declared unsafe to build on. Their Geotechnical Investigation Report served as the blueprint for repairing the extensive damage to our hilltop building site that the San Diego County Building Department approved and gave us a grading permit. Their engineering geologists and soil engineers were invaluable to the rebuild and worked hand in hand with our contractor, John Douglas Construction. The many people that we worked with at Vinje & Middleton Engineering, Inc. were all true professionals and pleasant to work with. Without their extensive experience and knowledge I have no idea if we would have ever been able to rebuild. When they were called by our general contractor they were always on time and their reports were extensive and accurate. We were finally able to get a certificate approved by them and able to submit to the SD County Department of Building on April 14, 2010. From the day of the fire to completion our home took almost six years but once again we are living in our beautiful ridge top tome. I really do have a lack of words to fully express how much I appreciate this firm and all the help they gave to us. I whole heartily give them five stars our of five stars.
