+ -1 moreContractor demanded unfair pricing of $2600 for 3 hours of labor to install new platform. This represented over 50% of the cost of the job, so my advice is to ensure that your HVAC contractor is able to sub this out at a more reasonable cost. After consulting with 2 other professionals after job completion, they agreed that 3 hours of work plus materials should not have exceeded $1200-1500. A neighbor who had similar work told me that she was charged an additional $900 to install a platform last year by an HVAC contractor in Escondido.
Description of Work: Heater replacement two weeks before Christmas so had very little time to react and had to work with insurance company. Although the heater installation was fine, firm did not want to install new platform under heater which was required by new building codes. Spent a week calling other contractors but everyone was busy into January. Firm charged $2600 to build new heater platform -- it took about 3 hours and some materials -- but I was stuck with no other options given the busy holiday season and cold/wet weather.

+ -1 moreFrank and Ken came in and were very professional, clean and respectful. They inspected the job, diagnosed it, explained it to me and then went to work. They took their time making sure I understood how the A/C and Heating system worked. Once they finished, they double checked the work and made sure I was content with it. When a problem arouse from their repair (beyond their control) they came back and fixed it. They listened to my concerns regarding the system, checked over everything, made suggestions and fixed it.I would used them again in a heartbeat. I now have a warm home.
Description of Work: Heater stopped running. Insurance company recommended we call them. They replaced the motor and the thermostat. A day later I noticed a loud vibration noise, called that evening and they returned the next morning. They took the furnace apart to find that a small part (which was supposed to be removed when the heater was installed) had become loose and thus was creating the loud noise. Problem solved. Then Frank and Ken went beyond the call of duty when I asked about air flow and the downstairs. They went through the house checking each vent and located the ones which were not working. Then, Ken climbed up into my very tight attic and squeezed down into the wall (where the duct work went) and found deteriorated ducts which had disconnected plus an air flow block. They did a temporary fix and called the insurance company explaining the work that needed to be done. They company approved the work and were out the next day to open a wall and repair the blockage and ducts. While the wall was open they discovered two holes (done by the builder) which needed to be repaired so the Heating and A/C system could run effectively. Even though they do not that type of work (drywall) they still called my insurance company, explained the problem and received the approval for me to have it fixed.

+ 0 moreThe owner of the company and one associate arrived at the appointed time and they immediately went to work. They were very thorough and kept me apprised of what they were doing andof any issues that came up. Total time for the project was about 6 hours.
Description of Work: Install new condenser and TXV valve to existing evaporative coil.

+ -1 moreInstallation and all work went very well. The product is (in April 2007) very new. However, the work went smoothly, all issues relating to the newness of the product were handled quickly and professionally. The company owner, Frank, was involved in the product development so he is very familiar with all aspects of the system. The people were prompt, well informed, and completed the work in less than one day. The system is now working well.
Description of Work: The company sold and installed the Leak Defense System, designed to detect leaks, notify, and if necessary shut off the water. This is a new product recently available. The company also fixed several other smaller plumbing problems at our house at the same time.
