Description of Work: I give George Parks Roofing a big A+ for coming out on relatively short notice to give us an estimate, and for being able to complete our job professionally within just a day and a half (and less than a week after we first called them, our old leaky roof had been replaced by a new roof ready to withstand the elements!) It all started when I needed to help my Mom (who's a senior citizen with difficultly getting around, and who's not a computer user) replace a VERY old and VEEY leaky flat roof at her house south of Hollywood. It needed to be done ASAP -- not only because of the oncoming rainy season, but because the insurance company was threatening non-renewal by January 1 if it wasn't fixed (don't ask why we waited so long). So I went right to Angie's List and found a few top-rated companies nearby...including George Parks roofers. They were the only ones who could come out immediately for an estimate, and their prices were very competitive. Also, even though I was super busy with work right then, the owner (George Parks himself) drove all the way out to my office in the Valley to drop off the estimate/contract and pick up the check (saving me a lot of time and headache either going over to mom's house to do that, or figuring out another way to coordinate this). George's crew were able to start the work within 1-2 days of the deposit (and it would have been even sooner, but it was threatening rain for a couple days). They started work Thursday morning, and were on time and very courteous and did great work -- and they didn't make any mess at all (everything was cleaned up very nicely). By the end of Friday, the roof was done, and all the old roofing materials were hauled away. I couldn't be there during the actual demo and install, and I was a little worried leaving mom all alone in case something came up during the work that she wouldn't know how to handle. But George himself kept me updated and informed along the way via cell phone (and even texted me photos so I could see what was happening...since Mom doesn't quite have the hang of the cell phone yet, much less texting a photo). When George's crew discovered 7 extra layers of old roof under the top layer (instead of the expected 2 layers) George called me to tell me right away, and offered to not add any extra charges (just a small bit more for the extra bin needed for the extra volume of debris, but he didn't add any extra labor costs). Also, some roofing companies find all kinds of "uh-oh's" after they take up the top layer, and the all kinds of extra charges for replacement wood and installation...and George had warned me that the wood in the sub-roof might need replacing on such an old house is it was damaged by water...but turns out they only found two panels that were damaged, and the replaced those at cost (ie, no markup, and no replacement of all the wood -- which could have doubled the cost of the job!) The next morning, with the job almost completed (and just one last coat to be applied and flashing installed), Mom had some questions since she hasn't been able to watch the first day very closely. But rather the delegating this to his crew, or doing it by phone, George drove over to Mom's to meet with her personally and address all her questions and concerns himself. He was very polite and patient with her, and afterwards Mom felt all her concerns were addressed, and that she was secure that the roof was being done by real professionals. The roof was finished two night ago, and we've had a big rainstorm since then...without any leaks at all (for the first time in years...and it's awfully nice not to get the morning call from Mom about how much the roof leaked last night!) I feel very very comfortable in recommending George Parks Roofing to anyone -- they also apparently do painting, and we're likely going to use them again very soon (to fix and paint some drywall that got water damage from the leaks) and also to possibly tackle repair/replacement of the other half of the roof...which is very steep and very high...and quite a challenge (but one that I'm sure George and his guys are up to).
