Description of Work: We used Mr. Handyman for a leaky window. The full extent of my disappointment in the service we received is too much for me to write down. The one shining exception was the manager/coordinator Luis - he was very responsive and helpful, extremely professional. However, at the end of the day my main experience was with Derek - the handyman. He was rude (for ex. the first time he came by he complained to my tenant that he found it annoying that I was asking if the job would be done within the estimate, talked to her and me with condescension and any time I asked any questions to understand the extent of the issue, he would respond tersely and as if 1) I couldn't understand and 2) was annoying for wanting to). After doing extensive fixes, the window leaked 1 week later. He claimed he told my tenant that the fixes he did would probably not be sufficient and we needed work on the roof - but he did NOT tell me this at any point, and as the decision maker if I had known this I would have asked to get all the fixes done at this time (or scheduled another service right away to fix the issue if they could not). When we scheduled him a second time to see if he could fix the issue, he was scheduled to arrive between 12-2 and did not arrive until 4 (with no call or warning), causing me to have to leave work as my tenant wasn't able to stay past 3. When he did arrive, he said "oh yep, its definitely the window causing the issue", even though I specifically asked if we needed to replace the window in the first go around and he said "No, the window looks fine, that is not the problem". When I asked for an estimate this time around, there was an exorbitant amount listed as 'materials'. When I searched online for materials just to get a baseline of cost, I found many options that would make the estimate close to ONE THOUSAND dollars less. When I called to ask for an itemized list of the materials, I was told that it is against policy to give that to customers because they don't want customers to see their mark up. I ended up getting an estimate from someone else, another reputable company found on Angie List, whose experience with I was very happy - their estimate was for close to 1500 less than Mr. Handyman's, and they ended up counseling me to fix something else prior to using them to fix the window (so basically talked themselves out of business because they had true integrity). | |Again, Luis was great and worked hard with me to make the situation right. However, Derek was consistently rude, made the whole situation very unpleasant and ultimately caused me to never want to use or recommend this service to anyone, ever again.

Description of Work: Secured some kitchen cabinets that were coming away from the wall. Rob from Mr. Handyman took care of the problem and was efficient, courteous and very helpful.

Description of Work: They did some drywall repair. It was a fair job. The handyman said he didn't really have the right materials to match the surrounding drywall but he did his best. If you look closely you can see the shape of drywall screw heads and the non matching texture. It seems like a lot of money for an OK job. UPDATE 1/11/16: The company contacted me after the initial review and offered to come back out to make things right without any additional charges. This was really nice and I appreciated that the company wanted to make things right and do it at no additional cost to me. The gentleman who came out was very professional, spent over 2 hours remedying the work and when he was done the job was excellent and looks great!

Description of Work: I called to get an estimate and I was told that they didn't give estimates. A short time later,they called back and said they could give an estimate for $80 which could be applied to any work done. I agreed and James came out and I received an estimate via email. I called a few days later to arrange a time for the work to begin and was given a date for 2 weeks later. Just before work was supposed to commence,I received a call that James wasn't available, so they would send someone else. I said that I was comfortable with James and we made a new date,10 days hence. James came on time and did the work. He repaired some water damage on the wood siding at the rear of my garage, put on a new door frame and replaced a low gate with a 6 foot high chain link fence gate. James did a very good job. I complained about the flimsy made gate but he said that it was all that was available. We also asked for privacy strips to be put on the gate and James said he forgot to get them, but he would return to put them on.After waiting 6 weeks,I went to Home Depot bought the strips and put them on myself.
