The project went very well. From the quick bid, to Danny's recommendations for enhancements, to the quality construction provided by Luis and the entire construction crew, we are extremely happy.

Danny Shushan and his wife, Hannah, were very responsive to our initial telephone inquiry. After a visit to inspect our site, Danny quickly prepared a proposal for the work that included 300 square feet of exterior decking and supporting structure, a new railing system, and a new staircase. We spent a few more days revising the statement of work to include some additional details and considerations on the project. The Danny Deck crew started work precisely on the date promised. During the project, the crew arrived on the work site promptly each morning. Danny estimated in his proposal that the project would take 3 weeks, but most of the work was completed by the end of the second week. The final detail work was completed on time at the end of the third week. Throughout the process, Danny and Hannah worked with us to finalize details of the proposed work, and communicate those details to the work crew. From our perspective, this project was performed perfectly, and with an absolute minimum of problems and delays. Danny, Hannah, and the crew were always responsive to questions and issues that we raised. We could not have hoped for a better experience. The Danny Deck proposal may have been slightly more expensive than some other estimates we received, but the quality and timeliness of the work was well worth the extra expense.

After interviewing six decking companies I choose Danny Deck Construction because of Danny's careful evaluation of what work needed to be done, the estimated price (not the lowest, but more than reasonable given the amount of work to be performed), his professionalism and because of Danny's assurance that the new decks would be safe and would pass inspection during my future escrow. All support structures were checked, repaired or replaced and painted as needed. New decking was installed and sealed. The work was completed on time, in a very professional manner and exactly at the estimated price. The workers showed up every day on time and Danny came periodically to check on their progress. The new decks look great and seem to be very secure. As part of the current escrow, I recently had the house inspected for termites, wood rot, etc. During the inspection some minor issues were identified with the new decks. The inspector suggested that the deck rebuilder meet with him at the house to address these issues. I called Danny and he agreed to come to my house to meet with the inspector. They went through the short list of issues and Danny agreed to make all identified repairs at no further cost. He sent two of his workers out at the agreed upon time and they performed all the needed repairs quickly and efficiently. With these minor repairs, the decks passed inspection. The fact that Danny did this promptly and at no additional cost indicates his level of professionalism. I strongly recommend his company to anyone who has need of deck building or repair.

Danny came out on schedule to prepared an estimate. Once we selected him for the job he arrived with his team on time on schedule to start the job. All of his workers were polite and professional. The job took 3 days and the work was done to perfection. The workers were self critical and took care with each step in the work. We definitely made the right choice and are very happy with the outcome.

It was great. Danny came to give us the estimate. He gave us a lot to think about since we couldn't decide between wood or composite. He had lots of samples to show us and helped us take into consideration our interior decor and how the deck would blend as an extension of our house. He had patience with us since we took awhile to make up our mind. He wasn't the cheapest or most expensive estimate we received but we liked that this is his sole specialty. We've had a lot of luck recently working with companies that are dedicated to the specific project we need done. The project was done within the time frame he gave us. However, we have a pool fence and it did take awhile for him to get someone out to drill the holes in the deck to put up a small section of the fence that had been displaced. It wasn't a big gap so we were able to put something in front of it while we waited. Once they came out, the holes were done perfectly for the fence and it looks like the original installer did it. The only thing I wish they had done was power-wash the deck when they finished. Our deck is low to the ground and lots of muddy boots walked on the deck during construction. Since we picked a composite look with ridges I can't seem to get the deck really clean and looking like new.

Their response time was good, any time I had a question. The owner, Danny, is really good at explaining everything. Even the next day after they were supposed to be finished there was still an issue, so he sent someone right out to fix it.

Danny did my deck last summer. Initially, the deck was perfect and looked really good. I was pleased with the work. A few months later, the stain was not looking good. Danny came over to look at it and sent his guys out to redo it. Within a year, the deck was not looking good with the stain again Danny came over to see it (he is very responsive) and I told him how upset I was over the color of the wood, so he sent two of his guys to sand and re-do the deck. It looked beautiful. Danny is a man of his word and very fair. He is not a push over by any means! Also, his wife Hannah, who is one of nicest people that you could meet, was always there for me. Hannah is the one that gets the biggest KUDOS of all. She runs everything , and never misses a beat! Great job, Danny. Thank you.

Danny Deck Construction did a good job. They came in and they cleaned up beautifully every night before they were done and came in and did it and he left. He gave us a good price because we had priced it prior to him coming, a couple of years ago we got prices and he was just right in the numbers so to speak. I will absolutely use him again.

We live in BelAir and Danny Deck built a work of art for our new hot tub enclosure. The crew was great and spent a great deal of time getting it right and maintaining the high quality that the rest of the house displays. Amazing work, very skilled, polite, and fast.

This was the challenge: to repair and/or rebuild our primary, South-facing, hillside deck which had taken a beating after years of exposure to the elements. I was seeking a contractor who was collaborative, who had an eye for good design, who understood my vision, who was experienced with hillside decks, who was priced in my ballpark, and, of course, who was well-reviewed on Angie's List! Not much to ask, right? After interviewing numerous potential contractors, I selected Danny Shushan, owner of Danny Deck Construction. Upon first meeting, it was quickly apparent that Danny is an excellent communicator and a good listener - a rare commodity in my experience with contractors. He understood my wants and needs, and was also able to explain - in layman's terms - the details of the job. I should add that his price quote was not the lowest - or the highest - of those that I received. I was going for a modern, contemporary look using admittedly costly materials - Ipe (a Brazilian hardwood that is resistant to damage from sun, moisture, and termites) and, steel posts with a stainless steel cable system. I appreciated that Danny tried to come up with ways to help keep my costs down. I got the distinct sense that although he is, of course, out to make a profit, he is never out to take advantage. Prior to the start of the job, Danny was always available for meetings to discuss various aspects of the project. Once work began, his lead man, Luis, was my primary contact. Danny was still available via phone and/or email, and was onsite several times a week. Still, as much as I liked Luis, selfishly, I wished that Danny had made daily visits to the site - particularly when sub-contractors were involved. But, I realize that this is the price paid when a contractor like Danny is highly regarded and in-demand. As is the case with every construction job, there were inevitable problems that arose. The primary issue was that work had to be halted for a few weeks due to delays with the steel fabrication. But, I understood that this was out of Danny's control, and, when work resumed, it did so at an impressive pace. Danny was also excellent at facilitating and coordinating other aspects of the overall project - lighting, waterproofing, a new gutter system, etc. He seems to have a vast network of contacts. Also appreciated was his overall demeanor - calm, confident, and always reassuring. Naturally, THE most important factor is the end product, and we are thrilled with our new decks. Not only are they beautiful and help to modernize our house, they are also give us - and our guests - a sense of security. Our overall experience with Danny Deck was probably the best we've ever had with a contractor. Our interaction with Hannah, who coordinates scheduling and runs the office, was also productive and enjoyable. As for Danny Shushan himself, he is a man who does what he says he is going to do. He also seems to get excited by the work itself, and, he takes pride in the quality of that work. You can't ask for much more than that.

We had a number of contractors come out to give us estimates before we decided to go with Danny Deck Construction so we had a lot of others to compare to. We decided to go with Danny Deck Construction and we are extremely happy and satisfied with every aspect of the job on our decks. Danny is extremely professional. He gave us a lot of options on our remodel--from high end to more economical options and price points. His team works very fast and are always out of the way--even on our huge project. The project was a big one but it was completed quickly. Danny spent a lot of time going over decking options with us and helping us pick what we liked. He had great design ideas as well and put us in touch with an electrician to work on our lighting for the lower deck. We could not be happier with the outcome. We would recommend him to anyone and we will definitely be using Danny Deck again for more projects.

I looked several places before finding DANNY DECK on Angie's List. Danny came right out after my initial call and gave us a bid. There was no pressure to use his company or "selling" with Danny. He's very confident about what he does and the quality of his work, and he gave us a fair bid for the work to be done. I didn't have a blue print, but I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to build, and Danny was very helpful in suggesting changes to make the project come out the best it could for the space, material, size and functionality I was looking for. Once we began Danny's team showed up on the determined day and got the project built in a very reasonable time frame, without much disruption to our daily routine. As they were finishing up, I threw out the home-owner-required "last minute change" and Danny and his guys did a great job accommodating me. The finished deck is amazing and really adds to the value of my property and the day-to-day living of our family. AFTER ... the summer and a bit of wear and tear, we had a small problem with the wood in a few spots. Nothing Danny could have seen or prevented, but when I asked him to come out a look at it, he did and he had his crew come over that day to fix it! Great guy, professional team and really good work. Thanks. As it is most times, I went with Danny Deck although they were not the lowest price but not the highest either. Hannah, who runs the office is pretty great too.

They did a great job! We had some other contractor come out and he proposed removing the entire deck and then re-installing the decking. But, Danny came out and designed the much easier -- and more cost effective -- solution to raise the deck with hydrolic jacks. This worked perfectly and we now have a level deck again!

I actually interviewed three professionals for this job (all from Angie's List) and ended up going with Danny Deck. I chose Danny because he was so knowledgable and a bit more concise with his thoughts on building a new deck and repairing other problems in the surrounding area. I also liked Danny's attitude and personality, knowning full well that this would be the man I would be conferring with during this project. I can't say it was a joy to part with $30,000.00, but it was definitely an easier transition because of Danny's great demeanor. Each one of Danny's employees showed the upmost respect not only to me but also regarding my property. Before the workers left at the end of each day, they cleaned the surrounding areas and left my property neat and orderly. Each day, Danny would stop by and inspect what his workers had accomplished. If I had any problems with anything, Danny would say "Don't worry, this will be corrected. We are here to make you happy with our work and to make your deck beautiful"! And that he did!!!!!!!! Being a homeowner for the past 25 years, I have come into contact with all sorts of people who have repaired or replaced different elements on my property. Without a doubt, Danny Deck holds the record for a stellar job on constructing my new deck. I wholeheartedly endorse Danny Deck to anyone that is in need of a beautiful outdoor space. Couldn't have been better - Danny was collaborative as this complicated project evolved. He always suggested the best solution and executed those solutions well. One of the things that made this project especially tough was a combination of a steep hillside and 80# masonry blocks used for retaining walls - we must have used 10-12 pallets of masonry block and it was installed during a very hot part of the summer. Danny always communicated well, was present on the jobsite when he needed to be, and had a very talented foreman and crew who really knew what they were doing. I would not hesitate to recommend Danny or use him again.

We were extremely pleased from estimate to completion. All promises were met with promptness and professionalism.

Danny & his guys pulled out an old redwood deck in our backyard, along with all the debris left behind from a previous renovation. Based on a design we created, they built from the ground up a new deck made from IPE wood, a very dense hardwood, very weather- & infestation-resistant. His guys were great, very respectful & professional, even helping with some gardening work, removing some bushes & rerouting sprinklers, and they always cleaned up the work site every day. Danny showed up on any days we needed to make decisions and was very flexible with any changes. Such a pleasure to work with, low pressure, easy-going and thorough. Also timely, as they finished on their promised date, and on budget. We highly recommend them!

We had three different Angie list companies that specialize in building decks come by to provide estimates. All were prompt, clearly knowledgeable, and provided written estimates via e-mail within a day of coming by to measure the space, etc. Danny Deck's owner, Danny Shushan, provided the lowest bid (though not by much), and as we were impressed with his expertise and the excellent reviews about his work on Angie's list, we awarded the project to him. Danny kept every promise he made. The job started on the day promised. His crew carefully removed everything on the patio, including very heavy planters, furniture, gas grill, etc. before beginning the job. Three men showed up every morning about 8:30, and continued (except for a short lunch break) until 5 p.m., carefully cleaning up each day before leaving. Danny had promised that the project would be finished within two weeks; it actually only took eight business days to complete. The new deck turned out beautifully, and the old deck that was refinished now looks brand new again. We could not be happier. Danny offers maintenance service for decks he built, so we will undoubtedly be contacting him in about a year for a modest clean-up and refinishing as necessary. In addition to being very professional, Danny is also a very nice person; very pleasant to deal with.

Danny drew up a clear contract detailing all the work he would perform and giving us a payment schedule. He oversaw all the initial work -- obtaining the engineering and soils reports, the necessary inspections and permits, etc. This was a somewhat lengthy process due to the city's bureaucratic ways, but Danny stayed on top of everything and kept us posted. Once the project actually broke ground, in March 2011, it moved swiftly and was completed about 9 weeks later. Danny is very easy to work with and always available to discuss any changes or concerns. He is professional, meticulous, honest, responsible and very personable. He was at the work site almost daily, and all of his work people were excellent. They were also pleasant and considerate and always cleaned up the work area at the end of each day. Since completing the deck -- and this is perhaps the highest praise we can give -- we have continued to work with Danny on several new projects: 1. Danny constructed a fence around our back yard -- 340 linear ft. of chain link around the hillside area, which is very steep and was very overgrown. He also installed 55 linear ft. of wrought iron fence and gate sections, including a wrought iron fence and gate separating the back yard from the front yard and, on the other side of the house, two wrought iron gates and fencing to secure the dog run. At the same time, he built a staircase along one side of the deck with railroad ties leading to a flat 9' x 9' platform, which he also built. 2. When we needed to prepare my mother's condo for sale, Danny did all the necessary work. This included removing the cottage cheese on all the ceilings, installing a new floor in the kitchen, doing all necessary repairs and painting the entire condo. 3. Danny built a 120' wrought iron fence (6' high) across our front yard as well as a pedestrian gate and a 20' wrought iron automatic sliding gate across our driveway. It looks beautiful and we feel more protected. 4. We are now working with Danny to install double-paned windows in the living room and essentially the entire back wall of one of our bedrooms. We are doing this to provide more insulation from both the cold and the hot weather and to provide more safety as the current windows are not tempered glass. Danny is our go-to contractor for all home improvement work. He is hard-working, honorable and very talented, and we have been enormously pleased with all his work. We wholeheartedly recommend him.

From job estimate to completion, the work went well. Danny and his crew were considerate and courteous. The work commenced on time and continued per the agreed upon schedule. The cost was very reasonable and accurate to the estimate. The deck is perfect.

Danny had some challenges with this project and solved them all. My only beef was with the cleanup at night. We had a new puppy and I would find screws and metal bits that were missed at the end of the day. His crew was very good and built a beautiful deck out of mangaris which cannot be nailed so everything is screwed. My other complaint, if you can call it that, is his lack of follow up. In December 2012 I called to see if he would come back to reapply finish to the decking as it was already looking very tired. He quoted me a price that I thought was a little high but I agreed because I didn't want my very expensive deck to get ruined. It never happened and he he didn't return my phone calls. Nice deck builder, bad business man.
