I ordered a front door from Rustic 101. The materials used were not high quality, the finish work of the door was terrible and the length of time to deliver was 8 months. If they attempted to fix damage they used tinted putty with their fingers with no attempt to smooth it out so left with large bumps complete with fingerprints otherwise, they just left splintered unfinished wood, not sanded as they did with the hinges, one of which was cut too large. (the door is dark so the unfinished wood really stands out). The door frame wasn't screwed into the house so the door kept shifting not allowing us to open it and when they installed the frame, they discovered their measurements were off so they incorrectly cut into the house to jam it in and it wasn't straight. The threshold of the door wasn't nailed, screwed or glued in and there was daylight coming through under the door. And, the door split as they didn't use a solid piece of wood. End result is I have to purchase a new door but it won't be from Rustic 101.

I contracted with them in December and it took 3 months for them to even start. James Adame was extremely nice and professional but it was clear the end result was an extremely bad installation and the door quality is so bad & not holding up that I now in less than 4 months have to replace everything plus try & fix the damage they did to the house. 1. Cut the stucco on my house to make the new frame fit. Turns out, that should never had been done but they were doing it because the frame wasn't fitting correctly. What I found out later is the reason the frame was crooked, was because they were trying to accommodate a warped door. 2. They came out several times to fix it as the door kept shifting so they did refund me $1,000.00 to fix the frame but as it turned out I should have asked for all of it because at the time, I didn't know the door was not only warped but the finish on the door was water based, not oil for outside and the door is also cracking because they did not use wood treated for the outside. 3. When the carpenter I have used before & trust came to fix the frame which they had cut in sections & tried to piece which was completely obvious and should have been one continuous board on the top & sides, we discovered the reason the door was shifting was the frame wasn't screwed into the house. And, the frame should have been finished on the visible side which it was but it also should have been oil based finished on the side you don't see because it is an outside door frame and moisture is a problem. 4. Quality of wood is not wood for use on the outside and not oil finish but water base finish. 5. Door plate was put right up against the ground & it was wood. A look a alike composite material is what should have been used and not butted up to the ground. 6. The door isn't long enough so light comes through underneath. 7. They put a deadbolt on the gate to the courtyard which should have been a key on each side for security reasons as you can reach through the gate & open it. They stated they would order the correct lock but never have. 8. On the inside of the house, they cut the baseboard too short by about 1/2 inch and just filled it in with caulk which already pulled away. 9. They damaged the door and inside framing on the door splitting it when they were trying to fix the door from shifting & the inside frame you could see light through to the other side. Their fix was to put in about 15 finishing nails all around the same area & not even bother to fill them & finish them correctly. I could see every nail. Although James comes across as professional and very nice, the quality of work is extremely bad & I am now faced with replacing everything at my cost. So even though he gave me back very reluctantly a $1,000 which it ended up costing me $1,300.00, I have to start all over again with new door & frame to fit the new door.

James was fantastic to work with from start to finish. He was very flexible and accomodating every step of the way. James was the central point of contact for everything and every time we needed a change to design or color, there were no questions asked. The final product was beautiful.

We ordered a custom wood door for our house remodel. James was exceptionally helpful in picking out every detail for our new door. I compared several prices before going with Rustic 101, and the price was comparable to a more mass-manufactured door from a big chain home supply store. We especially appreciated that James kept us informed about the progress of the door, and was easy to reach by email as well as phone. Our door was delivered in the time frame promised (it does take about 3 months). We had our contractor install the door, although installation is available. The door itself is absolutely beautiful, an example of excellent craftsmanship. We are very pleased and look forward to working with James again in the future!
