The first intervention appeared to go well until the garage door spring broke 3 years later (they are suppose to last 10-15 years). It turns out that they had put springs that were way too strong for our garage door. They were asking for $550 to replace them (again). Very disappointed with the unethical approach. We found on Angie's List a garage door company that fixed the springs for 1/2 the cost, identified the issue, and provided a standard 5 year warranty.
Description of Work: Changed two garage door springs, to replace the one that had failed. A bit over 3 years later the same spring broke (now supposedly not under warranty anymore). We were quoted $550 to replace them (again)?!

However, in looking back at the charges, I do believe that I paid much more than the service was worth. A charge for $450 for these parts is much, much more than they are worth and I did have a $100 off coupon that did not seem to be figured into the bill. I did call the company and they did agree to refund $50. Still, for 45 minutes of work and about $100 worth of parts, this is an overcharge. Of course, they did tell me ahead of the repairs and I could have refused, but I was needed at work around noon and needed to get my car out.
Description of Work: Garage door needed new springs, cable and bearings. Phil arrived early on Sunday morning and did the work quickly and professionally. I have no complaint at all about the work done and the high-level of service I received.

I called for an estimate on replacing my garage door. I was told a salesperson would be at my home between 12:00 and 1:00 P.M. I got a phone call from around 1:30 P.M. He did not apologize for calling late let alone not showing up. He asked me what I was looking for and I told him. He gave me what I thought was a very high estimate ($2100.00) which turned out to be true after pricing around ($1465.00 for a comparable door and parts) When he gave me the estimate I told him that because of the price I would have to get some other bids. He said fine and abruptly hung up on me. I felt I was treated in a very unprofessional manner. The salesman's actions only confirmed to me that I would never do business with this company.

Tough to review... Got into a jam when our spring above our garage door broke suddenly with our family car stuck in the garage. It's a door that's too heavy to lift manually. Found these guys on Google. They had a repair technician out within an hour (and this was at like 7pm at night). Amazingly prompt service. I was told by the phone operater there would be a $29 review fee to check out the situation and if I hired the tech, it would be waived - fair enough. Tech's name was Tim. Very competant individual. What I thought would be a $150 job to replace a spring, quickly turned into a $500+ job replace both springs and a 'bunch of other stuff". I know nothing about garage doors, was in a tight situation, and with a small amount of negotiation agreed to allow him to do the job on a $520 estimate. He did the job within about 45 mins and apparently quite well. I was given a 'lifetime' guarantee on the parts and he told me that these coils should last about 30,000 lifts - sounds good to me. At this point, my garage was fixed, but I genuinely felt a little taken a bit on the cost of the repair. I have nothing to compare this to, so I can't say that it's high or low, but it feels high to me. This is where giving a C or a B in terms of pricing was very difficult. I would have prefered to give a B- to be honest. But the situation improved to prompt me to write this review and make it a generally positive one. A week or so after Tim's installation, I began to hear a popping sound while the garage was opening. I wasn't sure if it was normal or not. It didn't go away so I decided to give Budget Garage Doors a call and let them know what was going on. They put me in touch with Tim. Tim shows up the next day right on time (actually early) and before I knew it, he had the door repaird. The kicker here is that the part that was problematic he says was not related to his original repair. It was something completely different - I beleive him. The good news, he did it gratis and said he was happy to do the quick repair for us which was swapping out a part with bearings. That had me feeling a lot better about doing business with these guys and while I was at a point of not likely using them in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to call them and would probably recomend them as well.
Description of Work: Two car carage door with verticle spring broke, needed immediate replacement to get car out of garage. Company replaced 2 tension springs, set of cables, & center bearing.
