We used Glass Wall Systems 11 years ago (2003) to install a brick and glass wall across the back of our backyard to knock down the wind and improve our view. The wall is about 60 feet long, with the slump stone bricks about 2 feet above ground and nearly 3 feet below ground, and the glass panels are 4 feet tall and 3/8" thick. The brick wall was built to retaining wall standards (complete with rebar in the concrete footings, rebar in the bricks, and the bricks are filled with concrete), so that wall is not going anywhere any time soon. Bill matched the bricks almost exactly with our side yard walls. In the 11 years that we have had our glass wall, we have not had a single service call or any problem with the wall, and even the gasket material holding the glass in place is in great shape after 11 years of sun and weather. Based on our excellent experience with our backyard glass wall, when it came time to rebuild our 30 year old deck, we went right back to Bill at Glass Wall Systems to do our deck railing this Spring (2014). Once again, we are really thrilled with the end product. Bill built the deck exactly the way we wanted it done. He was ready with the materials for install in advance of our deck being ready for the rail to be installed, the install was done in two visits (one for the posts, and the second for the glass and top rail), and the crew cleaned up after themselves very neatly. We only had one glitch in the install process--but this actually speaks highly of Bill Mesa and his crew. On the initial install date, the crew foreman went over the installation plan with me while he was waiting for the crew and posts to arrive. When they arrived, the posts were the wrong color. The foreman immediately recognized the problem, let me know about the problem, and immediately sent the posts back to be redone--no muss, no fuss. Other contractors we have dealt with would have tried to convince us that this was a better or more expensive color or tried to talk us into accepting the wrong color. Kudos to Glass Wall for their customer service! The rail is warrantied to survive 70 mph winds and the deck itself is built very solid. So, if we do get a global warming hurricane coming out of the Pacific, the rafters in the roof may get blown off the house, but the deck and rail will still be standing in place when it's all over. You get great value for the price. We had a quote as high as $22k for the same job from a fru-fru high-end custom contractor, and what their end product looked like at their reference locations was nowhere near as nice as our Glass Wall System! We also could have gone with a railing with thick 4" wooden posts and a fat wood top rail for about 60% of the price of our glass rail, but wood rots and has to be painted/maintained more intensively than aluminum, and wood just looks clunky compared to the metal railing. We love our glass railing, can't say enough good things about Glass Wall Systems and Bill and Monica.
Description of Work: Fabricated and installed an aluminum post and 1/2" thick glass railing with solid aluminum top rail around our newly rebuilt second story deck

We looked all over for a company that could do something like this and this was the only company we found. They were in and out in two weeks and were extremely professional. When they left it was perfectly done with nothing out of place.
Description of Work: We had Glass Wall Systems put a glass wall in our backyard that goes about two feet into the ground, it comes up about two feet; it helps with the sound and is a great backyard wall. Because it isn't living, it is almost a fire-break wall. It has a stacked-stone veneer.

We were assured by Bill that the metal railings holding up our glass deck would not rust. When they rusted we called them and they told us it was covered under the warranty. Then once they removed the railings they told us it was not covered and that we needed to pay them nearly $1000 dollars or they wouldn't put the railings back. When we got the glass decking in the first place the glass was all scratched and after some months they did replace that. I would suggest against doing business with them as their product is not of a good quality and they don't stand behind it. Plus they essentially tricked us. We would have never let them take off the old railings if we had been told we were to be charged.
Description of Work: We installed glass and metal deck railings on our top deck.
