Dissatisfied with how many construction firms put profits before quality, employee fulfillment and ecological responsibility, friends Jeff Sochet and Tyson Schroeder formed Conscious Construction to make a positive change in the industry. Through the many projects completed thus far Conscious Construction has had the opportunity to not only produce quality workmanship, but also meet the social, environmental, and community needs of our clients and workers, building a core team of longtime employees and solid relationships with outstanding subcontractors. Even through this tough economic climate, we’ve been able to experience 5 years of exponential growth in the number, size and quality of our projects. We look forward to years of innovation in the green building movement, and are committed to increasing our leadership in the field.

Jeff Sochet from Conscious Construction was hired by another company to examine my deck to see what the problem was. He said that he would report his findings back to the company that hired him. He came out to my house and examined my deck. He questioned me and the person who did the application. He couldn't find anything wrong with the application. I told him that the product was outdated. He estimated the cost of redoing the deck between $3000 and $3500. He refused to report his findings too. Updated 2/9/2012 in response to Conscious Construction: He made an appointment with us and came out. He came to my home when the handyman that did the work was at my home. He asked myself and the handyman some questions. He explained that the handyman did the work properly and he could not find anything wrong with the application. I never mentioned anything about suing the company that manufactured the product, he suggested settling with them instead. I asked him what he would charge if he was asked to refinish the deck and he estimated $3000 to $3500. I was never hostile to him or volatile in any way. The entire visit and conversation we had was congenial. We had a pleasant conversation regarding topics other than the work. When he left, there was an understanding that he would be submitting the report of his findings to the company, but I followed up with him and he told me he would not be submitting the report. I asked him why and he wouldn't provide a reason. He then explained that because the person that applied the product was not licensed he was not going to submit the report and would not asked to be paid for his time. Because this report was not submitted, I will be responsible for repairing the deck, when it should be paid for by the manufacturer. I feel that he wasted my time and did not follow through with what he said he was going to do.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Conscious Construction for redoing my deck.

Response from Conscious Construction
Member apparently had some concerns with the product he chose to use to refinish his exterior deck. We were contacted by the manufacturer of the product and agreed to meet Member to take a look at what was going on. Member's volatile and irrational demeanor was immediately apparent, threatening to sue the manufacturer and retailer of the product, and Conscious Construction specifically if we did not submit a third party opinion that supported his position. Given these circumstances, we made a decision not to formulate or create an inspection report, which is our legal right, and instead suggested to Member that he retain his own special inspector, and/or approach the unlicensed and uninsured handyman that performed the work for a refund. We would like to reiterate to all Angie's List members that Conscious Construction did not manufacture, sell or apply any product to Member, and has never performed any work for him in any manor. A simple Google search of Conscious Construction will reveal the gleaming reviews of our actual clients on many different sites. Thanks, The Conscious Construction Team
