Description of Work: The first time I hired these guys everything went smooth but this last time ( have only hired them twice) it was horrible the service technician asked to use my restroom and then asked for something to drink! I mean this is just unheard of! the service was done but at the price of having to let some strange man want to use my restroom and make sure he was well hydrated.

Description of Work: I have Desert Air Conditioning do a pre-season checkup on my 6-year old heat pump (A/C and Heater) twice a year. They always find something that needs repair and the bill is always between $500 - $1,000 per visit.

Description of Work: They said that my AC unit had a leak, which is funny because the same company was out there just 2 months prior to look over it and clean it! So for them to fix the two small leaks it was going to cost $650.00 just to solder two AC lines, and then it was going to be an additional $700.00 to put R-410A Freon in it at $55 a pound. After later I found out later that the same Freon cost only $25 to $30 a pound. They knew it was a new unit and didn't look to see that it had a 10 year warranty and replace a capacitor on it. So all in all for two small leaks and to refill the unit with Freon it them four hours and $1445.00. | |They Sucked.....Do not use Desert Air Conditioning......EVER!

 + -1 moreThe technician was very professional and accommodating with my schedule. He arrived on time and waited for me to return from work. He gave me the cost of the repairs up front but charge $85 for an estimate. I have never had an a/c unit fixed and the landlord paid for the services so I did not compare prices. It seemed to me that all parts cost $295.

 + -1 moreWe have used Desert Air for many years. They have serviced both units at home and several units where I work. They tell you up front what it will cost and guarantee their work. We had an idea in February 2013 of moving our roof top air conditioner to the ground mainly because of a low frequency sound it was making in our bedroom. We had Mike and his crew come out and do the measurements and come up with a design. We agreed on a price and started making plans of cleaning out a closet where the duct work would come through the wall. A day or two later Mike called and said he had a better idea of isolating the unit from the roof while keeping it in place. The added insulation and better ducting eliminated the low rumble sound and the unit works better than before. It was a great idea and much less expensive. In my experience Mike and his crew do an outstanding job.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a faulty component, under warrantee, in our roof top air conditioner and replaced an old thermostat which started to corrode so that the "Fan Only" switch would not work.

The repair tech, Mike, was prompt and professional and explained what was needed to the rep for my home warranty company when they wanted to know all the details on what was needed and what the cost was. I'm happier with Desert Air than my home warranty company.
Description of Work: Part of the electronics fell victim to the extreme heat here in H*** Centro.

 + -1 moreAir Conditioner was not turning off. They told us we needed a new thermostat, and the A/C unit was installed correctly. Also claimed it needed Freon. This after 1 year ago they repaired something else, added freon and charged $700. The new charges were to be $2,300. We got a 2nd opinion from Lara Air Conditioning and they found no problems. Said tempreture is over 100 and if unit is set at 72 it will not go off.

 + -1 morewe haven't used any of the companies except Desert Air. They came on time and were courteous but prices were outrageous and they didn't want us to know that the $250.00 work they wanted to perform could be done by us in half an hour and at no charge!!
Description of Work: had to have ac motor replaced (with homeowners insurance) but they wouldnt do it until we had the unit cleaned...they wanted $250.00 to clean it plus the $60.00 charge for the call.

 + -1 moreThey are really good. The price was more than I expected. We have 2 AC units. I would recommend them to my family and friends. He was very thorough on everything and checked everything. I like those boys. When I call them, they ask what they can do to bring a smile on me.

Description of Work: I get my AC serviced every year before it gets hot here in the Imperial Valley. They technician showed up on time and was friendly and bilingual. He serviced both AC's (upstair and downstairs) and I talked with him while he did it. He seemed to know what he was doing. He serviced them and saw some part that needed replacing, so he replaced it. When he was done he changed out the air filters in my house for me. I'm having a problem with one of the AC's now but it was not related to the work that the tech did. My insurance company used R&K air conditioning so I had to go through them. They changed the condensor and it worked for 3 hours then blew a fuse. So I flipped the breaker and it worked for 3 hours and stopped again. I'm not impressed with the R&K technician or the company at all, not on time, not advising me when they will be here, late, just a sorry outfit all together. I wish my insurance company let me use Desert Air.

 + -1 moreTHEY INSTALLED THE UNIT AND EVERY THING WAS WAS WORKING FINE WHEN HE LEFT. WHEN IT IS 115 OUT SIDE IT IS NICE TO FINE SOMEONE WHO WILL TAKE SUCH GREAT CARE TO GET A UNIT A FAST AS THEY CAN SO YOU ARE NOT LEFT WITH OUT A COOL HOUSE.
Description of Work: REPLACED AIR CONDITION UNIT. WE HAVE AN OLD MODEL AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND ONE THAT WOULD FIT SO WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE OUR COMPLETE HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THEY WERE VERY GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM FOR CARING FOR OUR HOME.

 + -1 moreOperator answered phone in english "how can I make you smile today", w/ other calls coming in. Estimate of arrival was good, w/ phone call prior. Spanish speaking technician was very nice and explained things. Did a complete evaluation of the A/C unit even though the problem was the fuse box.
Description of Work: Came to figure out and fix why circuit breaker to air conditioner not working. Turned out to be a minor problem that a screw in the fuse box needed tightening. $99 standard diagnosis fee. They do not charge by the hour but rather by the service.
