Description of Work: They were sent by my insurance, they look for ways to charge you extra or make your insurance deny your claim such as stating that your A/C unit is dirty (lack of maintenance) or that your ducts are thorn, or that you are missing parts. Anything. They then tell you that they fix any of those things for an additional cost and thus make your insurance cover your claim. They are the worst A/C company in the valley. Very unprofessional.

They were not supposed to take my old unit but they took it for the copper and when I stopped them from taking my furnace, they returned it but without the copper. When I complained they kept telling me that they would recompense us but we made numerous phone calls and they never did. The value of the copper they took was about 450.00.

This was the second inspection that I received. Artic Air was a lot more thorough than the first person. I got the same answer from both. I need a new larger unit. Arctic Air was the least expensive of the two estimates that I got.
Description of Work: Gave me an inspection of my unit at no charge.

It didn't go well at all. They came out twice and never fixed the problewm. I ended up doing the work myself.
Description of Work: I had Artic Air out to fix my furnace as the pilot light wouldn't light. They sent out a Technician who was an AC man and didn't speak very much English. He spent 2 hours going over the blower wiring and never once checked the thermocoupler for the pilot light. I called to complain and they called the tech back to the office and sent him out the next day with a service manager. They again looked at the blower wiring. They supposedly fixed something and left. They never did fix the problem. I had to do it myself. I didn't choose Artic Air. I have American Home Shield and they are the ones who selected Artic Air.

We had purchased a compressor for one of our air conditioners and Arctic Air installed it and they bypassed a reversing valve on another unit. On the work order they put the cost would be $3760.00 When I got the bill it was $4,290.00. I called and complained and they changed it to the work order amount. When I asked my brother who is licensed in HVAC if what they charged me was fair he was amazed at how high the price was, especially as we supplied the compressor. They charged $2,200 to install the compressor which is 25 hours of work at $85 per hour. And they charged $450 to bypass a reversing valve. They were only here for one day and there might have been two guys working but that still doesn't warrant that high a charge. I may have to use them again if I can't get anyone else, but I know I am being overcharged. They charge $85 just to come and look at something.
Description of Work: Installed a compressor (which we supplied) in one air conditioner and bypassed a reversing valve on another. Installed new filter dryers on both units ($210 per unit). Did diagnostic checks and tune-ups on both units (which we didn't ask them to do which cost $235 per unit).

Similar story as the other review. I filed a claim through my home warranty and the sent Arctic Air...Not only did it take 4 days for the tech tom show up, but he also claimed my evaporator unit had to be replaced. I found out through the home warranty company that Arctic Air was going to charge me an 85 dollar "maintenance fee" because apparently my evaporator unit was 30% clogged due to lack of maintenance. When the home warranty company told me this, I immediately began questioning the technicians report since he never even stepped into house to check my evaporator unit...the home warranty then questioned Arctic Air and they said that the technician performed a leak test the day prior! I was pretty upset by this time since there was no one home on the day the tech supposedly performed the leak test...so unless he magically appeared in my attic to perform the test, he is full of crap. I thought I was dealing with a reputable business but I guess I was wrong! I will never even bother with arctic air again, nor recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: Tech looked at my condenser unit, and assumed the evaporator unit in my attic was clogged and had a pin hole leak...but he never went into my attic or inside my house to inspect the evaporator unit.

Arctic Air (667 East Ross Avenue El Centro, CA 92243) is the worst company I have dealt with ever. Never use this company they will rip you off. My family and I live in the Imperial Valley of California where the summer temperature can reach 115 degrees. My wife and I were out of town on business, when she returned the air conditioner did not work and the temp was around 105 degrees inside our home. Our home warranty company sent Arctic Air to our house to inspect the air conditioner. The tech arrived late in the evening and informed my wife that the unit was dirty and needed to be serviced before he could even begin to work on it. He then told her that it would cost $450.00 to clean it in addition to the $55.00 for showing up. We called a different company to get a second opinion and have the system serviced for less. VICS A/C came by the next day, they cleaned and diagnosed the A/C for around $75.00 and told us the A/C coil had a leak. At this point we were so angry that Arctic Air had tried to rip us off for $450.00. Since we needed the home warranty to cover the cost of the repair, they sent Arctic air back out to work on it. They confirmed that the coil had a leak and it had to be replaced. Artic Air also said that the same coil unit was longer available and that a bigger unit would have to be installed. It also would take 4 days till the job was done. They also explained that the Insurance company would only cover the cost and replacement of the coil and Artic air would need to charge us out of pocket any where from $300-$800 for modification cost which home warranty did not cover. At this point we wanted nothing to do with Arctic Air so we took the cash out option from the home warranty company and had VICS A/C replace the coil unit. A new coil unit was put in right away without added modifications cost. Do not use Arctic Air they will rob you blind!
