+ -1 moreI shopped around and did a lot of research on what I wanted before I called So Cal Windows. Since I had a really good idea of what I wanted when I called, the whole process was painless. Maybe, because I knew pretty much what I wanted, they really didn't sell me on all the potential options. So I called, gave Ryan my rough measurements and he sent me an estimate a few hours later. The amount was about 30% for the exact same product from one of the big box stores. (I later found out, they are a sub for this same store). Because their price was very competitive and I heard good things about them, I moved forward. It was about a 4 week backlog. Then they installed the windows in one day. 6 windows one patio door. I have to say his crew was super efficient. There was an error on one of the windows and a call to Ryan and we came to a reasonable solution. After install, the only thing I could find wrong was about a 1" square of broken stucco. Overall, I was very happy with everything.
Description of Work: Six new Milgard windows and a patio door.

+ -1 moreI had an awesome experience with Southern Cal Windows and door from start to finish! The best part, they were cheaper than everyone's bid! I had a total of 6 windows to replace. Three of the 6 windows are large trapezoid sky lights which was 50% of the total estimate. I was able to save a good amount since they had recommended the trapezoid windows be a single piece instead of two framed pieces. Four of my windows had to be custom so it took about 3 weeks to get them. To my surprise, the install took only a day and that's with some large wood framing being replaced on the exterior. The installers were very polite and cleaned up after themselves. With how much wood work they had to do, I was surprised to see no trace of their work left behind. It's been about a week and we love our windows! It's much cooler in the house and the best part, it's super quiet.

+ -1 moreI am completely satisfied with the whole entire process. I called a couple months ago to set an appointment. Ryan came out to take measurements and discuss my options. I was very impressed with the materials and options he suggested, and I was blown away by the price. He was the 3rd company I had out to my house to discuss this project and he was the only one who didn't try to push or pressure me to get to sign, rather he just said to give him a call anytime if I had any questions. I decided to get 1 more bid after that as I prefer to have 4 bids for any project. At that point I decided to go with them. They did not ask for any money down and just a short time later they called to schedule the job with me. They were very clean and took excellent care of my belongings. At the end of the job they cleaned up everything and walked the job with me to show me how to operate everything and how to remove the screens. I couldn't be happier with the windows and the quality of the work. I will definitely recommend them to anybody.

+ -1 moreI discovered them on the Simonton website, and chose to get an estimate from them as opposed to a big box warehouse (which also sells Simonton products), or a franchised operation. In the middle of the window measurements he got a phone call, and took the phone call in front of me, rather than sending it to voice mail and returning the call later. When the call ended, he actually made a call to someone else involved with this previous call, then finally returned to the estimate. During the estimate, he told me that they also are sub-contractors to the same big box warehouse that sells Simonton windows, and the incoming call had to do with a client complaint about a previous installation. Not really the way to score points on this estimate. Long story, short - he offered to beat any estimate I received by ten percent (after providing me a hand written estimate). Any estimated based solely on price means that they are not convinced of their quality. I declined to accept his generous offer.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate for whole house window and door replacement with Simonton windows and doors.

+ -1 moreThis was not a good experience. When I first called the man said yes he would come on Wednesday but wasn't sure what time and would call. On Wednesday morning another man called and said he would be at my house at 1pm. He eventually called at 2:30 and said "time got away from me, I will be there by 3:30" He eventually came at 4pm. On arrival he measured the windows and said he would email me an estimate. I eventually got the estimate one week later after he he sent it a second time because "I sent it to the wrong email"I went with another company who came on time ,with samples and who gave me an on the spot estimate.

+ 2 moreOverall I would NOT use any other company for window and door replacements because of the quality of the windows and doors and the finish!! 10 Windows and Patio Doors done in ONE day from start to finish...what more can I say! ...apart from.. USE CALIFORNIA WINDOW AND DOOR with TRAVIS ZUCKERMAN Marc the Doorman did an awesome job and even stopped me using three hands to close my front door! the Window team of Scott, Jeffrey, Tony and of course Travis who was working along side his guys...Thank you so much for taking good care of my home and my windows!
Description of Work: Let me tell you a story, if you are a woman alone..(like me) or anyone else for that fact. Travis was one of many window installation companies that I interviewed three years ago to replace my 40 year old aliminium windows, he looked so young I was very nervous but he just told me he stands behind his work, anything I am not happy with just call him and he will be right there and he will "make it right" just like Mike Holmes!! that was all the assurance I needed to hear. My husband had died recently, I had not heard of Angies List at the time so was doing all of the researching of contractors totally alone...very scary!..but let me tell you I was so very very lucky to come across this young man, I chose Travis's Company because he turned up on time for the Estimate and was very thorough with detail explanations and choices..The Windows looked absolutely amazing then and still do today three years later and NOT one issue with them! His Team turned up on time and set to work so fast it was wonderful to watch, they were singing and cleaning up as they worked, obviously love what they all do and it shows, who would not love to work with such an awesome boss! Travis is so proud of his workers and the work they do, he appreciates them and shows it! ...three years later when I hired them again to do the windows on my much smaller house, (unfortunately had to sell my home of 25 years) it was the same workers who I immediatley reconized..that says a lot for a Boss who keeps his employees happy! this is a DREAM TEAM! PLEASE look no further than Southern Calinfornia Window and door for your Vinyl Window Replacements, I am all about going green and he reccommended the Low E Dual Pane that blocks out the suns harmful rays and help keep my home cooler, so efficient I opted to NOT put in the A/C unit I was considering, Travis even has contact with additional licensed, insured, bonded contractors that he stands behind and I trust his advice 100% and have used many he recommends...I so love this guy..if you live in the San Diego Area and would like to look at my windows just drop me an email anytime.
