Professional Roofing and Solar

We had an old hard stone roof called the Arizona roof that not many people wanted to deal with. Removing it was a major effort. So they dealt with that without any problems. They gave us good information about skylights. We talked to other roofers and didn?t get good information from them. However we got good solid information from Professional Roofing. They installed the skylights and they were perfect. Their price was right in line with what it should have been. They were very professional and prompt. The workers were courteous. We would use them again in future if need be.

We had a leak on the roof and knew that it was way past due to get the roof replaced. I called PRS and Peggy scheduled John (the owner) to come out for a consultation. I was immediately at ease with John and scheduled the roofing and other work to be completed while I was away on vacation. John had no problem scheduling the work in my time-frame need with only about a two week notice. All of the work that had to be done by others, like the insulation and removal of rusted out water heater solar panels, was completely coordinated by John, using contractors that he trusted. Our roof now has a life time warranty! The only issue that I had with any of the services performed was with the lack of clean up of the inside of our garage. Two skylights were installed in the garage. The garage interior was covered with saw dust and wood splinters. I called John and he said that he wasn't aware that the garage had been left dirty and that he would send someone out in the next couple of days. Well, no one ever came out, so I took my time getting the last bit of payment to him. Peggy called asking when they'd receive the payment. I told her that I was waiting for the garage to be cleaned (in reality, we had already cleaned the garage ourselves). She said "Oh, no one has come out yet?". I said no. She said that she'd talk to John and arrange it. So I waited. No call from John until he called to say that he was going to the county to put a lien on our house because the final payment never arrived. We told him to come over to the house and we'd pay him. Never any resolution about the dirty garage. With that said, the work that PRS and the contractors did is TOP NOTCH work. The roof is gorgeous. I would totally recommend PRS and would use them again.

The overall experience was what you most hope for when hiring a contractor. John was punctual, responsive, and helpful in all aspects of the project - completely describing our options for flashing, shingles, venting, and daylighting with solatubes so we could make informed decisions to best roof our project. He oversaw all work that was done, taking the time both with us and his workmen to ensure the job was exactly as we wanted. We are particular about quality, making sure the job was done right was foremost for us, and we are completely happy with the finished work. The roof is beautiful and they did a real nice job tieing in to the existing roof. We thought it was a very good price, especially for the quality of the experience and the work. Our existing roof will need replacing in a few years, and we fully intend to have John come back and do that work too.

They came out and described what they would do. They gave me a bid and came out in two weeks to do the job. They completed the job within a day. The only problem was the way they did their business; they did the job in parts. One crew came out and prepared the roof by taking off the old roof. Then another crew came out later in the day and installed the new roof. So this took a longer time though they came on time. They didn't fully complete the job and I had to call them and then they came out and completed the job. It took them a while to send my invoice. I would probably use them in future.

THE UNPROFESSIONAL ROOFING COMANY - THIS IS AMAZING TO ME. I took time off from work to meet Mr. Houge (The Owner) for an evening appointment at 5:00pm. I waited until 6:00pm. He still hadn't shown up so I left the house. Mr. Houge called at 6:30 and left a message that was of the tone "I got hung up, was busy and would like to re-schedule". I guess he thought that his time is more valuable than mine and that he didn't need to call to at least advise me that he was going to be late. I have to assume that if he can't make his appointment to finalize an estimate and finish the contract, that it is likely he won't meet the commitments made to perform the work and as such I am better off finding someone else to do this job. I did not return Mr. Houge's call but he called me the next day to try to reschedule. At that point I told him that I had found someone else to do the work and, rather than apologizing for not meeting his scheduled appointment with me, he simply said "oh" and hung up. It is dissapointing that people operate with this kind of attitude. In my line of work, the customer is first and when you make a commitment, you do everything possible to keep it.

I can't believe that I gave all A's to this company. I'm usually pretty tough but Professional Roofing Services earned my high marks. I obtained 6 estimates for the repair and complete new roof. John's estimate was not the most or least expensive but I felt he was giving me a lot of good advice, knowledge and the most for my money. I was very impressed with all of the crew. (Great carpenters!) They started each day at the time they had told me the day before and they always gave me an idea of how late they stay in the afternoon. They were courteous to me and my family and took their time to clean up after a long day. Their pride in their work shows in my roof. It looks great. I love all the light that I now have in my home. I'm looking forward to a heavy rain this winter! Thanks PRS.

John came out and diagnosed our roof. He found the problem right away when no one else could. He had his crew come out, they patched and fixed the areas that needed to be fixed. He also gave us an estimate on getting a complete roof replacement. When the time comes to replace the roof we will definately go through John.

John came out to the house we bought and made an inspection of the roof. His estimate of the needed repairs matched those of an engineer we had look at the house before we bought it. Later his employees returned to make the repairs. We were very pleased with the quality of the work done. We definitely will use his company in the future. We plan to have this company do additional work.

Terrific! We had already done windows, but the new insulated roof was the best single improvement we have done to our house. It killed the freeway noise and neighbors' dog noise much better than the windows did. And now our air conditioner works properly!

There bid was right in the middle of everyone elses. My friends that have had work done by them are very happy with the work. Would highly recommend them and we will be using them in the future.

I'm trying to be honest and fair in my description of the overall experience. Very pleasant and professional receptionist. Peggy was very kind throughout this whole experience. Initial meeting with John the first week of Nov was great. John spent a lot of time in the initial consultation showing me pictures of the roof and problem areas, explaining the process including follow-up if repairs don't fix the leaks. He's a very nice guy and I instantly liked him. We quickly set up an appointment for the work to be done. The day of repairs, they left the place as neat as a pin and had hosed away all debris. I assumed everything had been done as stated in the contract. I paid the bill when it arrived. A few weeks later, I caught a glimpse of our roof from another street and saw that a vent had not been replaced. And then it rained, with leaking at one of the sites that had prompted the repairs in the first place. I called PRS the 2nd week of Dec to ask about the vents and report that the repairs had not fixed one of the leaks and needed a recheck. I left a message with the receptionist. No call back. Took 3 or 4 more calls to get a call back. John finally called, apologized for the delay and the error/miscommunication with his workers regarding the vents. He told me that they were very busy and several of his workers were on vacation. He promised that work would be done by the end of the week, but it wasn't done. Of course, it rained again with more leaking at the same site, but I also realize it's not safe to work on a wet, slippery roof. I gave them a pass through the holidays. After the first of the year, I called on several occasions and talked to the receptionist several times. Finally got a voice mail from John apologizing for the delay, several of their workers were still out on vacation. I was told someone would be out to finish the job on at least 2 occasions. Somewhere in there, 3 of the 4 total vents were replaced but the leaking area was not repaired. Finally, this week, John called me back and reviewed the areas of concern, answered my questions, went over all the paperwork again and promised to get the work done. I think he sincerely felt bad that things had not gone as planned, or as quickly as either of us would have liked. The work was finally completed late this afternoon, with the last repairs done after dark. His workers were very courteous and tidy. Although I got what I paid for, it was only through persistent, repeated calls to the company. I feel bad for Peggy, having to field all my calls. Although I'm sure the work is of high quality based on the company's awards and good reputation, the lack of prompt communication and my overall experience trying to get the work completed has left me with a bad impression. It's hard to rate whether I got what I paid for or whether the price was right considering the trouble it took to get the job done.

John Hogue's team did it in one and a half days. The estimate called for a one day job but they ran out of daylight and needed to come back the following day to put on the finishing touches. The only excitement was when the workers set off my indoor smoke detectors by just walking on the roof.

I left a message on Monday morning, with both my cell and work numbers. It's now Wednesday night and no one from the company returned my call. It rained this past weekend, so I can understand that they may be busy, but to not return a phone call in three days is lousy service.

Very well. The job was done properly, clean up was immaculate, and John was very responsive.

John was prompt, professional, and pleasant. He took a lot of time to educate us about roofing. We liked him and came close to hiring him. However, his price was way higher than his competition, so we hired another roofer.

They were high and I had to call a couple of times to get the bid. Maybe just busy, who knows!

The patio guys were great. They finished the whole job in 2 1/2 days and only put a small slit in our slider's screen. The roofing guys, another story. They put their equipment down on sprinkler heads, plants, wherever, and did a sloppy job on one side of the house which was difficult to reach because of plants. To John Houge's credit, he immediately addressed every problem and efficiently. He sent over a whole crew to make everything right on the roof, a fellow to repair the screen door, everything. He obviously cares about the customer's satisfaction with his jobs, and that's saying something in this day and age.

I have had leaks from an upstairs deck onto my living room for years. All the patching didn't work. John was very professional, absolutely knows is stuff. He described exactly how he would replace the entire deck surface with appropriate roofing material and guaranteed that it would prevent any further leaks. While he was there, I had him resurface my other deck. And because my roof was put on poorly, I asked him to redo my roof. John's workers were efficient, thorough and cleaned up after the project was finished. The job was completed on time. Because it was a small job, other bidders were uninterested in the job. Professional Roofing was happy to take on this project. And as a bonus, my neighbor contracted with him to repair his deck. John was always on time, kept in good communication with his workers and me. My only complaint is that his workers dislodged my satellite dish and I needed to call their company and pay for a readjustment.

They were knowledgeable and the price was right. They came and actually did the work in 1-2 days. It was amazing how quickly they did the job. THEY KNEW A LOT ABOUT WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND GAVE ME SOME GOOD IDEAS.

They gave me an estimate. They were here everyday from beginning to end. The boss and me had very good communication. They cleaned up after themselves. They were courteous and kind. They inspected their work after they were done.

It was excellent. They did a very good job and we were pleased. They were very professional. They arrived promptly. Also they were very neat and cleaned up well. They were very friendly and nice people.

Did not use because he was too expensive.

I called to get an estimate in late April because of leaking roof. The owner of the company came out within a week and gave me quotes for both a new roof as well as repair. We decided to go with a new roof. They were very patient with me trying to make up my mind about color and style. They brought me out about 12 different samples and then provided me with dozens of addresses I could look at to see a roof I was interested in actually on a house. When the day arrived to start the crew arrived on time and worked hard all day. I have dogs and had a sitter staying with them while I was at work. She would go outside periodically and motion to the workers that the dogs needed to go outside. They would stop for 5 minutes and resume work when the dogs went in. They were friendly and polite, and professional. They cleaned up after themselves everyday. They pulled the roof off on Tuesday and it was back on on Friday. When the owner came to do the final walk through some of the flashing had not been painted and he sent a person out the next day to touch it up. I would highly recommend this company. They made the experience enjoyable.

John Houge was on-time for the estimate appointment. He understood that we were doing several other renovation projects and did some schedule rearranging in order to accommodate the time frame we required. The job was completed in three days, just as promised and the roof looks great.
