Professional Roofing and Solar

From start to finish, from our first meeting with John, to the clean up after the job was complete, I felt that I had made the right decision in selecting Professional Roofing. I had gotten two other estimates, which were the same or higher. One of the estimates would not take off the old roof, which Professional Roofing did. Once the job began, we realized that this was a much bigger job than we expected. Through most of the work we had 7 to 10 men working on the roof. This job took about a week. All the crew worked very professionally and very hard. We watched closely, and went up on the roof several times to see what was happening. After the old roof came off, they found alot of wood damage from old leaks. They repaired damage very well. There was extra cost for the wood repair, but that had been explained by John when he gave us the original bid. Until the old roof was taken off no one could estimate how much work repairing wood damage would need to be done. John had given us a square foot estimate for wood repair, so it wasn't a totally unexpected expense. The wood needed to be replaced and we were glad that it was done. If we had hired the company that wouldn't take off the old roof, the damage would have remained, and probably the leaks would return, We were glad to have decided on the touch down roof. We have confidence that it will last the length of the warrentee (twelve years), and probably longer. We have trust in John, that if a problem develops, he will make it right. Finally, I was very impressed with the clean up process. Over the years many cable and telephone wires were left on the roof and attached to the flashing that were no longer in use. The crew got rid of the old unused wires, but left a working cable and phone. All the vents on the roof are now properly capped. My roof looks prestine, although it is a flat roof and noone sees it.

Superbly. The demolition crew arrived on-time completed the work quickly and cleanly. The roofing crew arrived the next day. Every day the crew cleaned up, there was no indication they had been there unless you looked at the roof where the materials were stacked. The owner John Houge is very involved in the process, his crews are very professional and hard working.

We joined Angie?s list particularly to give negative feedback on Professional Roofing. Originally when we were reviewing the company, John encouraged my husband to check out his ratings on Angies? List; ?they were perfect?. Indeed his ratings are very good; however we know that one bad rating may represent others; so we are compelled to write this even though it is never fun complaining. Lack of thorough and timely communication was the main problem we had with Professional Roofing. Always an excuse, ?my secretary is sick, at a retreat, unavailable?.? Many calls went unreturned over the several week process of replacement. Initially, we chose John and his company and paid $1500 more than our other estimates. However, we thought we were choosing superior service and of course, an excellent product. We were wrong on the first aspect (ultimately we were happy with the quality of the roof). We were told there would be daily inspections which we never saw. It took over 6 wks to get the all the parts/pieces of the roof finished (skylights, trim , vent details and paint, gutter issues, etc). Workers would show up without notice and be on your roof (they did usually knock on the door; though not always). However, besides the bird dogging to get problems resolved; the most frustrating problem was that our gutters were totally messed up. Prof. Roofing replaced the covers on them backwards. After multiple calls over 10 days, John stated that he was not responsible and we could buy new gutters and he would ?foot? the labor. To the tune of $500 for product that we were never warned would be a problem. We believe this is another example of lack of thorough communication. We had enough by this point, and opted to hire a separate gutter company on our own and ended up paying $700 for something that we never expected to replace. We reviewed the contract, and nowhere did it mention that there may be damage to gutters. Nor did John warn us of this potential issue. For the reasons above, we would not recommend Professional Roofing. We believe John is a nice person who we really liked; who is vastly overextended, which resulted in the poor communication and follow-through.

Professional Roofing Services did an excellant job in explaining and documenting what needed to be done to reroof my personal residence. It did the job in three days as scheduled, showed up on time with a full crew who knew what to do with good supervision by the owner, John Houge. When unexpected termite damage was discovered that created extra work, the crew stayed late to get the sub roof ready for arrival of the roofing shingles the next day so as not to delay installation of the new roof. A lot of little things were done as part of the contract that other roofers would have charged extra. I am very pleased with how it came out and was glad to see how well it held up under heavy rains in December. I recommend Professional Roofing Services to others.

Extremely well. John came out to estimate the work, did so on time and in a very professional manner. The work was done very efficiently -- one day to remove the old roof, about 3 to 4 to complete the wood repairs and the installation of the roof, insulation and skylight. Another crew came a day later to install the gutters; work completed in about 3 hours. The area was left clean and clear of any debris. These people know what they are doing and their leader, John is a gentleman and a scholar. It was a pleasure doing business with this company.

The heavy rains were coming, our roof was leaking, the brand new bathroom addition was getting ruined... and PRS's crew came to the rescue. They worked quickly, efficiently and professionally and saved the day! Thank you!

I called the company for help with a roof leak. As of today, they have not returned my call. I gave them some leeway initially as I am sure they were rushed off their feet with recent rains, but it would have been nice to at least have received a callback now that the rain has stopped. I'm surprised given the glowing reports they have received from others.

John and his crew are complete professionals!! I rent my house out and am dealing with these contractors cross country. I got 4 estimates from companies on Angie's List. All four were in the same general area. I was looking for solution for my non insulated house which was built in 60's. I had asked all companies for quotes on the insulated roof; John was the only one who suggested since I was replacing the roof to blow the insulation into the house. It was alot more economical & made sense. All of dealings were either email or phone calls, always replied promptly. John explained every step he took; he supervised the job. He started & ended on day agreed upon. His crew was prompt and professional. There was only 1 minor glitz where plumbing lines were punctured when shingles were installed. He called out a plumber to fix the leakage. Problem was fixed within the hour. I would definitely hire his company again.

No problems. John is a very professional guy to work with. All work was done well and cleanup was good. There were some extra charges for replacing bad wood, but I was told to expect that in advance. I waited a year to see how it held up in rain before completing this report. Still satisfied.

Outstanding work! The estimator provided quality advice, great price. The roofing crew were punctional, worked hard all day, cleaned up upon completion and finished right on time. The office staff were cordial, helpful and friendly.

All work was performed as planned. The clean up was good. The new roof and gutters look and perform great. We are completely satisfied.

John took control of the project. Just bring you check book.

It turned out that John had installed the roof over the main part of the new house 9 years before. Not only did he extend an additional warranty to our new house but his crew touched up and reconfigured some of the shingles because he thought he had a better way of doing it now. They did an excellent job of both houses.

John was professional and thorough from start to finish, bidding process thru final clean-up. I highly recommend Professional Roofing for any and all your roofing needs.

They were very professional and polite, arrived when they said they would, and finished the job in a timely manner. We were very pleased with the experience.

I believe that they lived up to the company name by being very professional. When they gave me the quote they explained everything giving me all my options without being pushy about it. They quoted 3 day to complete the job and they finshed on time. The work was done extremely well and they did a very good job of cleaning up after the work was done. They were no the lowest price, but they weren't the highest either. Their price was right around the aveage price. Overall I would recommend this company to any one.

Our property is a 4 Unit contemporary style condo complex with multiple flat roof sections at different heights and multiple sloped sections. In 2006, we had Professional Roofing Services remove the red clay tile roof from the sloped sections of our roof and replace it with 50 year asphalt shingles. We were very impressed with their professionalism, reasonable pricing, quality of their work and delivering what they promised quickly and efficiently. Based on our past experience we hired them to replace the flat portions of our roof this year. We were not disappointed. This project was more complex because all four units had solar water panels left over from the original construction in 1980 and each unit had since replaced their hot water heaters that no longer used them. In order get a good seal on the roof they removed and disposed of all of the old solar water heater panels. All four units had also replaced their rooftop AC/Heating units over the past few years and so the pads built for the original units were smaller than the new units. PRS recommended an AC contractor to disconnect the old units so that the old AC pads could be removed and then reconnect them after the new roof was installed as well as replace any bad ducting. Once we approved the quotes from the AC contractor PRS coordinated all of the AC work so that we didn?t have to worry about it. PRS recommended repositioning two of the AC units so that the scuppers from one of the raised flat roof areas would not drain directly on to the exposed AC ducting to avoid problems in the future. As expected, PRS came through for us again delivering top quality work in a timely manner at a reasonable price. Their staff did a great job of cleaning up after themselves and leaving our property looking great. We highly recommend Professional Roofing Services.

There were no surprises and we are very pleased with the work performed. The 12 year parts and labor guarantee was significantly better than any other guarantee that we could find. Dealing directly with the owner, John Houge, was a significant advantage. He was very professional and did a very good job of describing what was going to be done and how it was to be accomplished. He verified the work after it was completed. The price was not the cheapest but I think we received the best value.

They came 1 day later than previously planned but they let me know about the delay ahead of time. They took 1 day to tear off the old roof. Then it took 4 days to replace the roof. Right on schedule

We had used Professional Roofing Services several years ago to replace the roof on our home and were quite pleased with John and the whole experience. We were just as pleased with this job. Price was reasonable, work done was fast, neat and professonal. End result was two of the best looking flat-roof jobs I have ever seen. I will recomend Professional Roofing Services and I will use them again.

John never emailed or called again. I guess he is so busy he just doesn't have the time to get back to clients. You have to wonder if a company can't even get back to you before a job has even begun, what is the process going to be like during the job and any subsequent issues that might arise afterward?

Overall found John to be very reasonable to work with.
