Mr. D's Painting and Construction Services

I called Don to come out and give me an estimate on my condo. He told me he would get me a quote that same day. I never heard from him, so I called him the next day, and he promised he would get me the quote by Friday, 3 days later. Friday came, and he still never got back to me. I texted him and called him the next day. He never returned my call or my text. If you’re not interested in doing work for someone, you should at least let them know vs. leading them on and preventing you from finding someone else to do the work. The least he could have done was to have the integrity of telling me he was not interested vs. just ghosting next and never responding back.

Don and his staff were professional, hard working, and talented in the jobs they performed. I would definitely hire them again!

Work was substandard" they said that it was poorly done and that they would come out and fix it. Never heard from them again. And after the poor job they did I had some one else do the repairs.

All workers did an excellent job. Everyone was highly skilled, polite, friendly, and timely. They even did a few extra things that weren't in the contract. Highly recommend Don and his crew!

There was a wall that needed to be torn down, an ugly chimney facing to be removed and replaced with a new fire place/mantle, a ceiling with insulation added, lots and lots of electrical wiring moved/added, ceiling fans installed, the ceiling in the kitchen replaced and recessed lighting installed, tiling in the kitchen added, painting the whole house, you name it. We had a general idea to start out with but along the way we made changes or Mr. Ds crew suggested alterations - everything was done without a complaint. Mr. Ds crew are an amazing group of professionals, his foreman Ruben, his team leaders Travis and Scott, his painting crew with Ariel leading. If you ever need a general contractor, don't go to Mr. Ds - RUN to him. And almost the best: on the last day, when the crew removed all their tools and the coverings of floors and furniture, they brought along a young lady who cleaned the house!!! It was all in all a most satisfying experience. Work was supposed to be done in 2 -3 weeks, it was completed in two weeks. We highly recommend Mr. Ds - on a scale of 1 -10 he deserves an 11!

Don and his crew did an excellent job. They were respectful and careful moving our furniture. If I had questions, Don responded very quickly. Don was very accessible throughout the job. He did his best to accommodate our needs and wishes. The clean-up at the end was quite good and very much appreciated. The quality of the work was first class with no obvious flaws. I would definitely use Mr. D's Construction Services of San Diego for any future home projects.

Mr. D's sent a rep out to measure and discuss what I wanted. They took measurements and sent me a quote. They continued to contaxt me at different stages of the project to ask about colors and depth of shelves. They did a great job. The first time I had them out was to do a whole house paint job and to remove the acoustic ceiling, I was very happy so I called them back for the cabinet job.

They answered the phone directly and set up an appointment in a timely manner, providing me with the name of the contact. Unfortunately, I found that 3 estimates are not needed and opted to go with my original painter. When I called to cancel the appointment they were very understanding. I would certainly call on them again.

These are the best people you could deal with! So responsive and willing to work with you until it is just what you want. We picked a color we HATED after it was finished. They worked with us to find one that we loved.

WOW is all I can say. I love my kitchen. Don Martin is a joy, Ruben is an artist the rest of the crew were like family at the end of the construction. I left for work in the morning when I came home all that was left of my old kitchen were the wall studs. Dons crew repaired and rerouted the plumbing and electricity. They re ran the gas lines that had been converted to electricity in the 70's. Don was infinitely patient with the trouble I had visualizing what I wanted. "It's not done yet" was his response when I couldn't see the finished project in my mind. I went with all the suggestions of companies he suggested for cabinets, granite and flooring. I have custom maple cabinets, granite counters, bamboo flooring, can lighting in ceiling, crown moulding in dining area and living room. The first thing the crew did was put down protection on my porch and floors where they were going to walk. When they left every day, they cleaned up. The finish work is really nice, if something was not to Rueben's standard he redid himself. The only delays in construction were caused by me and my trouble with decisions. Don did not flinch with any of my add on ideas and requests. I suggest gathering pictures of kitchens that you like. Colors, styles, textures..... Show them to Don and he can make it happen. Don invited us to his home to see what he had done to his kitchen. That really was a big help. The cost of the project was way less than one of the big companies. Don is transparent and honest, will tell you if your ideas are feasible with the budget you have. He will work with you to get you where you want to go. I will definitely use him again for more projects.

I was very happy with Mr. Ds. I plan to use them soon for a kitchen remodel project. They also did great cleanup up each night when then finished up for the day; and they did a final walk-through to make sure all was completed each night.

They were awesome. Their quality and their responsiveness is very good. I trust them and I feel that I could walk away from the work and I wouldn’t have to worry about the quality. It is a very conformable situation and has turned out to be a positive experience.

They completed all of the work before we moved into the home. Everything was perfect! They are really good people and they will do anything to satisfy you. They’re great and I would recommend them to anyone.

They were always professional and friendly. I knew exactly what they would do before they started. They were willing to work weekends and never seemed put off by that. Mr. D, himself frequented the work site and made sure to stay in touch with me. There are a few small things I still need done and they will be out shortly to do it.

He is very good. He did quite a bit of follow up work and we appreciated every bit of it.

Crew was polite, professional, punctual, and clean. The owner, Don Martin is very personable and attentive, and learned to communicate more frequently and effectively after I complained that I wasn't being informed of material purchasing plans. My suggestion to future customers is to choose your paint colors carefully ahead of time because this is the weakest part of this service. All in all, Don and crew are very interested in making customers happy and my main complaint is that I wished I had received a discount. Angie's List customers don't get a discount, but Don is listed in YELP web page as offering a 10% discount to new customers who hire him for painting their homes. The crew is exceptional under the direction of Ruben and Severio. I will use this business again, and hopefully I'll get a discount next time.

Don Martin did a nice job. I don't remember how much he charged me, but it was competitive. He had the job done on time and when he said he was going to get it done. He did a good job. He didn't make a big mess. I would hire him again.

The painters from Mr. D's were very efficient and very thorough. The re-checked everything. They gave me a good estimate and followed through. They came when they said they were going to. They were very professional and they had excellent mannerisms.

Excellent. Good work ethic and cares about the customer.
