I have used Christian roofing in the past on some income property and they did great work for me. Most recently, they removed a very worn wood shingle roof on my home and replaced it with new sheathing and a new composition roof. I have a low-slope area on which they installed a membrane material. I have a furnace in the attic. They placed a tarp to catch the debris that falls through the old sheathing. That makes a big difference in the cleanup. Replacing a roof is a messy business. Shawn's crew worked a full day and then cleaned up the site every evening. We had rain during the installation week, but they made sure we were dry at the end of every day. We never had a problem with the rain. They had a full time crew lead on the job every day and they stayed in touch with me throughout the process. They worked fast and left me with a solid roof that looks really nice. I did do competitive bids. They were within about $1000 of each other but Christian was the lowest bidder. You should expect to see some change orders with any roofing project. I had to replace a lot of the eaves due to rot. I expected it, and was not surprised. The change orders were reasonably priced and well executed.
Description of Work: Tore out old shingle roof (2 layers) and installed new composition roof and vents

Left a message on a weekend regarding repair of a leaking roof. Did not receive a call back by Monday afternoon, so I called again. I spoke with a receptionist who took detailed information about the problem, the home, location, etc. I asked them to contact the tenant that is residing in our property to make an appointment to look at the roof and also to call me back with the estimate. It has been over a week and no one from Christian Roofing ever called either one of us back. Their add says that they do repair jobs, but if they are too busy to take on such jobs they should have called us and let us know so we could look elsewhere. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!2457 Brtel

Our roof is very steep and after seeing how many tiles needed replacing. They ordered the cedar. Then two men came and very safely with ladder and ropes replaced and then painted to match the other tiles.

I just saw Christian Roofing in the Angie's List Penalty Box, and realized they were listed here so I could give them a review of a stinking bad job they did some years ago at my home. First the owner (SCP) gave an estimate, but the day the job was to start he said he would not offer the guarantee. He replaced the guarantee on his proposal by writing over it "12 month warranty on labor only. If roof leaks Christian Roofing is not responsible... " I objected, of course, but he gave me a big song and dance about how he had named his company after his faith and how important integrity was to him and how he would always stand behind his work because he was a man of honorl But no guarantee. By then the contractor who was doing the overall renovation of the house was tired of waiting, said he'd dealt with Christian Roofing before and they are a good company, and pressured me to go ahead without the usual guarantee. What a mistake! Within 3 or 4 months the roof had a lot depressions in it where the water was pooling, and the "protective white paint" in those areas had come off entirely. The depressions showed severe cracking of the black membrane below. It was as if the membrane had been eaten away by acid. The owner came out and of course refused to do anything. Since then the roof has gone from bad to worse. Much worse. I contacted several other roofing contractors over the years and asked if they could patch the many areas where the roof had deep cracks and depressions (all black, looking like a blight on the otherwise white roof). The other roofing contractors said they wouldn't touch it because of the liability and there was nothing they could really do at this point because it was such a mess. Finally I hired my house painter to patch up the cracks and apply a layer of special paint from Sunshine Supply, at a cost of $2,900 for labor and about $2,500 for the supplies. Christian Roofers are crooks. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
Description of Work: Put on a new roof, including a layer of foam insulation, and "upgrade" with reflective paint.

Response from Christian Roofing
I just saw your review. I am absolutely flabbergasted and quite frankly insulted you will be held accountable for posting a false review And defamation of character of Christian Roofing. I will be contacting Angie's list and letting them know about this. If you remember, Sir, Christian Roofing did not install your flat roof the only work we did for you or the contractor was waterproof a driveway with living quarters underneath custom stairs and a deck.we never installed your roof sir. I felt this needed immediate attention so I am responding on my mobile.make sure you get your facts straight as you are treading on dangerous ground.I find it odd I have only heard of this just now. You never contacted me did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?I know and you know the roofing contractor that installed that flat roof your beef is with him not us. I suggest you correct your false statements to avoid any further aggravation. Do the right thing and correct your statements.

Christian Roofing was my 4th estimate. I had 3 from Angie's list and 1 from an independent small contractor. I met Josh (Estimator) and right away felt a connection. Josh was very friendly and genuine. He asked me questions. He gave me options and made me feel very comfortable. He made several suggestions, but told me, ?this is your roof, I want you to be happy?. I had a question about roof vents. He shared pros and cons about various roof venting so I could make an informed decision. I mentioned that I got his company from Angie?s list and he immediately offered me a perk. I did not expect. I knew right away that I would choose CR to do the job. My budget for the roof was pretty tight and I told Josh my concerns. I wanted to get the Low-E thermal protection but did not know how much wood replacement might cost (42 year old 2 story home). I told Josh that I wanted to proceed with the roof and hold off on the Low-E till I knew how much wood would cost. He was very understanding and did not pressure me in the slightest. Josh came by the day before the scheduled start date to show my wife and I shingle samples and explain in detail what to expect. He spent a lot of time with us. He took shingle samples on the roof so we could see them in place. He set them at different angels, he even took them across the street so they would be in full sunlight to help us decide. He was very accommodating and incredibly patient. He really takes time to make you feel comfortable. He carefully detailed the products and warranties we could choose from. The job went very well. The workers did a great job. They tarped off all around the house to protect and keep the area clean. We were amazed by how clean the crew left our home at the end of the day. Josh explained and showed me what wood needed to be replaced. Thank God, it wasn't much at all. I decided to go forward with the Low-E protection after all as an energy savings add on. CR also installed a solar tube and that installation went very well and looks great. My Wife and I were amazed at how positive of an experience this has been. The roof looks great and the job only took about 2 ½ days. When we told josh how much we liked the shingles we picked he was very happy for us. It can be hard to imagine what a sample will look like when covering the entire roof, even after looking at pictures of other homes with the same shingle. After the job, Josh came by to do a walk thru to make sure we were happy with everything. He even took me up on the roof to look it all over. He filled out the warranty information and included a nice thank you note for choosing CR. Josh is a great representative for your company!!! Debbie in the Front office was also very professional and pleasant to deal with. I will gladly recommend Christian Roofing to family and friends for any and all roofing needs. I already have recommend them to a friend looking to get a solar tube installed.
Description of Work: Christian Roofing provided a complete roof tear off and re-roofing of my 2 story home. This also included the addition of a Solar Tube. They also performed maintenance on the roof of a room addition.

They are extremely good. Honest and do what they say they are going to do. They worked right through the heat wave we had and were very fair price-wise as I didn't have to pay until the work was done. They told me up front how much it would cost and got my approval every step of the way. I was out of the area while they were working but trusted them to do the job. I have a 91 year old house and the wood had never been fixed so I am grateful that I had them and I hope others will benefit from this review.

First of all Christian Roofing is outstanding, I had a roof link on the flat portion of my roof. I saw that Christian Roofing was an Angie's list winner and had great review. Shawn came out to give me an estimate on how much it would cost. I told him the story how an termite company coming out and did not cover the open spots on the roof when it rained. I asked Shawn how much it would cost to do the whole roof. I share the roof with my neighbor. Shawn explained to my neighbor and me about the cost and split the job and explained it would not be fair to charge us both because materials would be different for the both of us. Since I was retired Navy he game me a discount and give my neighbor the same discount. His crew was always on time and friendly and at the end of the day you could not tell if there was construction going on. If there was a change Shawn made sure to explain any changes. When he noticed that the support beams on my back patio where loose he recommend a company to come out and take a look. Shawn also pointed out that the work done by the termite company caused more damage then fixing the problem. Shawn went above and beyond his duties for both my neighbor and me. It was like I was his only customer and keeping me priority was his only concern (knowing he had other customers still made me my neighbor and me feel special). I know why Shawn had outstanding reviews. You can go wrong with Christian Roofing

My parents needed a new roof, since their wooden shake shingles were very old, leaking, and presented a fire hazard. I got four bids on the roof, and all were very consistent on price, with a variance less than 10% total -- this was unfortunate, since the roof cost much more than we'd expected due to the need for entirely new sheathing. We decided to go with Christian roofing, because Bob appeared to be very professional, knowledgable, and he was very good about setting expectations, etc. I felt very good about the other contractors as well, so it was a tough choice, but Christian ended up getting the nod. It was raining on the day they were to start, so ended up starting a week later on the Monday before Thanksgiving. 95% of the job was complete in less than 3 days (and before the holiday), with only some touch up remaining, which was taken care of promptly after the holiday. There were some additional costs, as some wood needed replacing, but the prices were fair, and I was expecting some minor adjustments to the plan. After all was said and done Christian Roofing provided good communication, fair price, quality work, and finished quickly and professionally. My parents are very happy with their new roof, and I plan to call Christian Roofing when my home needs a new roof in a few years.
Description of Work: Remove old wooden shingle roof. Install sheathing entire roof, since previous roof only used skip sheathing. Install new roof shingles and vents. House is approximately 1900 sq. ft. with two pitches.

Josh, the Senior Project Manager, was there the first day to supervise the initial work and came every day to check on the days work. Josh is very professional and made sure the work was properly done. He even photographed the attic before the insulation was removed, when the attic floor was completely clean, and after the insulation was installed. The workmen were very competent and professional. At the end of every day, the area was left clean. Everything was done in a timely manner and according to specifications. Josh was very concerned that we were satisfied with every aspect of the project, and we are! We wholeheartedly recommend Christian Roofing to our friends and neighbors!
Description of Work: Before the work began, plastic sheeting/tarps were laid around the exterior and interior. The original shake shingles were removed, old insulations was shoveled out, new insulation was blown in, new asphalt shingles were installed. A skylight was installed, a new chimney stack was installed, bathroom celling was repaired and completely painted where water had damaged the ceiling.

The job began and finished at the time they stated. There was some minor wood repairs which were primed and installed in a timely fashion. The whole crew were very respectful of my property and did a thorough clean up when the job was done. Before choosing Christian Roofing I checked with a few other companies and it was apparent that in the interview process this company didn't take shortcuts and uses quality materials. The price was reasonable for the roof. Their 10 year warranty on labor was important to me. I highly recommend Christian Roofing because of their honesty and integrity in their work.

Wow! This company is amazing. Shawn Preman is the owner and he came out to talk with us and give us the initial quote. You can tell after a minute of talking to him that he brings a wealth of experience to the job. We called Christian Roofing because of their Angie's List ratings. Another member's review called Shawn a "roof geek" and it's true in the best way! He took his time, looked at the job and discussed options with us. He developed a solid plan and explained everything to us. We wanted to hire them right away but we waited to see how other bids came in. Turned out that our initial feeling was right and we ended up hiring Christian Roofing. On the job, the guys were very professional. They respected our house, cleaned up after themselves. They worked quickly and the work was A+. There were no surprises. They did everything that we discussed. There was a change or two along the way, but Shawn walked us through every step. Everything was agreed to before the work started or changed. Shawn was on site every day to see how the work was progressing. Everyone that we dealt with during the week-long job was great. It's been a few months are we are so happy with the end product. The new roof looks great, our house has been noticeably more comfortable in temperature with the insulation, and no leaks. We couldn't dream of better results. I wish I had a Christian Roofing for every project!
Description of Work: Christian Roofing removed our roof and replaced with a new one. They installed 2" of insulation between the ceiling and the new roof. They built an entirely new section of roof to partially cover an atrium in the center of the house. We have a tongue and groove ceiling so they came in before starting the job and draped plastic against the ceiling to catch dirt and debris.

Shawn was punctual as was his workers and they left the worksite clean daily. Our problems were in regards to the actual quality of work that was performed. The 2X6s cuts weren't straight, fascia was warped, the tongue and groove boards weren't fitted appropriately so it left gaps and he wanted us to fill it in with silicone, the stucco damaged that was left after the cut back of the A frame was never refilled with patch leaving huge holes Shawn stated "Well I'm really not a stucco guy." We knew that prior to the work, however he said he would patch the holes temporarily until we could have it re-stuccoed at a later date. We only got six air vents when we were quoted for 8 and the vents were placed too low and should have been placed higher on the roof...heat rises, but I guess it is better than nothing. The sanding of the wood and primer of all the wood was not done as promised, he claims that he never said he would do that. This was followed by, "I'm really not a salesman I'm more of a worker." Hmmm it's his company as a part owner don't you back up your work? A man/company is only as good as his word. The insulation that was suppose to be R30 grade turns out apparently not to be as we were told by several other contractors...electrical, AC and pest control. None of the other contractors had a vested interest in making a buck off of the insulation but let us know that we did not get what we paid for? When we spoke to him at the job site Shawn really didn't know how to respond to everything, in fact he seemed like a deer caught in headlights. At one point he stated, "I'm a roofer and I have never run into these issues" in regards to the fascia being warped and the groove boards not fitting appropriately. On a subsequent visit he brought his brother Josh along. Josh knocked off $200 for the warp and ill fitted tongue and groove boards, when asked what it would cost to have it done right it would have cost more than $200, but they were only giving us a $200 break in price for their mistakes? From the street the roof looks beautiful, but close up you can see the workmanship. I can't wait for the first California rain storm to see if we have any leaks...good thing it hardly rains in California. Shawn's quote was quite a bit higher in price than most other bids for the same work. But we went with Christian Roofing on the guise of you get what you pay for and boy did we not get what we paid for :( ADDENDUM TO THE RESPONSE: This client did not have a third party post anything she was present at the meetings except for the last walk through when Shawn brought his brother to the house. All the so called extras with the exception of the electrical inspection were not additional work and I would say that any roofer that installs a roof would want to make sure that there would not be a fire hazard created by any work that they perform? True that in any type of business you can't please everyone, however to ask a customer to put silicone filling to fill in gaps really? He did one job for my brother not several and it was an industrial flat roof? We paid $8,000 for the job, however we were told that it would be more than the balance of $950 to fix the warped, roller coaster, uneven roof, and the original quote of $9,580 was to include the extra roofing materials needed to cover the detached garage, which would have coast a couple thousand more to do, this house is only 1,100 sq. feet. We were sent a letter for a lien of $2,638.48 from the suppliers even though we had given Christian Roofing the bulk of the money for the job. So if we supposedly only owe Christian Roofing $950 why would the suppliers send us a lien notice for almost 2.8 times what we owe? We have dealt with many contractors as we own several rentals and family homes and Christian Roofing by far has been the most unprofessional company we have ever had to deal with. Give us a call for more Professional Roofers 619-623-5003.
Description of Work: Shawn was punctual and provided us with a list of things he was going to provide us for the roofing job. Removed two layers of old roof, he was going to replace all the fascia with 2X6s, he was suppose to install 8 air vents, clean out the attic and replace the insulation with R30 grade insulation. He was suppose to cut back the A frame and patch the holes on the walls. Also he said he would sand down and primer the other exposed wood so we could throw some paint on it until we could have the exterior done professionally. This is a fixer investment property as money comes in we planned on fixing it up only addressing the need toos for safety and health issues immediately.

Response from Christian Roofing
In response to Review by Member [member name removed] ([member information removed]) Regarding Roofing Installation at Alveda Avenue Residence Original Contract Amount: $9,580.00 Additional Work Performed: $1,952.00 - (see breakdown) 1. Electrical Inspection: $100.00 2. 150 ft. Of 1x6 sheathing @ $4.40/ft. ($660.00) 3. 40 ft. 1x8 shiplap (primed) @ $4.40/ft. ($176.00) 4. 600 sq. Ft. Of Roofing material for garage ($780.00) 5. 32 ft. 2x6 Fascia @ $7.40/ft.($236.80) Original Scope of Work (per Contract): Remove existing roof to wood base. Remove old insulation and sanitize. Install R-30 rolled insulation. Install new 30# underlayment. Install Owens Corning Duration Lifetime shingles. Install 30 ft. Ridge vent. Install 6 O’Hagen attic vents. Remove 1x4 fascia and upgrade to 2x6 fascia boards including primer on front and backside of house. These services were performed according to contract. The following statements were made by the Client: “You gave me the shingles for the garage.” (It was an extra cost on the contract listed as an option. We ordered the materials for garage per Client’s request and would have added this to the cost of the base bid. Why would we give $780.00 in material for free?) “You told me you were putting 8 vents in.” (Contract stated 6) “You said you were going to sand my windows and all the wood on the house.” (Christian Roofing does not perform this type of service, and it was not specified in the contract.). “You said you were going to stucco the house where you removed the A-frame.”(Partially true, however, since Client was having the stucco patched by a professional, we verbally agreed to leave it to the pro’s) “The fascia was warped.” (Christian Roofing used premium cut lumber from lumber yard. Client had structural sagging and settlement on backside of house. To fix this it would have to be done by a framer for thousands additional. We installed the fascia following the existing roof line.) “Vents were not in proper location.” (Vents were installed according to local building code.) “You installed less than R- 30 insulation.” (Christian roofing did install R-30 insulation and can provide the material receipt to prove it.) “Your quote was higher than everyone else.” (Client showed me a competitors bid, and with all the additional work we did ours was still the lowest.) “The wood was not cut evenly.” (Partially, true - there was a two foot piece of shiplap that was off by one inch. Christian Roofing offered to correct this at our own cost, however, Client instead wanted to negotiate a discount off what he owed us. We offered a $200 discount, Client wanted $600.) Client was referred to us by his brother, who we have worked with in the past on several successful projects. From the beginning it was all about price with the Client. We submitted a written bid proposal in detail describing every facet of the job. Client expected a “break” because of our relationship with this brother, and asked for some additional services to be included at a discounted rate. The revised bid proposal was offered ($9,580.00), which the Client then signed. Work was scheduled to begin 10 days later. Once work began, Client began to show his negativity and duplicitousness. When additional work was found in the form of bad wood, Client refused to sign a change order, saying it all should have been included (our contract included a Woodwork Addendum, which client signed.) Christian Roofing should have pulled off job leaving the bad wood exposed and the roof open, however, we did not. We replaced the wood, and absorbed the cost. Client used my kindness as a weakness to take advantage of the situation, harassing me for additional discounts. We paid a general contractor out of our pocket to perform an electrical inspection, ensuring that all insulation and wood work around electrical components was done safely. In addition to not charging for any of the necessary woodwork and throwing in the extra shingles for the garage, we gave the client additional $630 off in courtesy discounts. Though we did receive a progress payment for the majority of the bill, Client has yet to pay his balance of $950.00. It is over 30 days past due, and we have no recourse except to lien the property. Client waited until the very end of the job to pick apart every aspect of the workmanship. Client used personal insults at the job walk, and on the phone with myself and my associates. Client then had a third party (possibly his wife or girlfriend) post the disparaging review, attacking my personal character, not just the quality of our work. It has rained since the work was completed and we have not heard about any leaks. Client received his manufacturer’s warranty and our 15 year warranty on labor still stands, though I doubt anything we could ever do would be sufficient for this Client. Christian Roofing always strives to deliver superior quality workmanship and materials. We take every job seriously, and make every effort to correct errors, and accommodate homeowner concerns. In our experience, there are always a few people out there who you just you cannot satisfy, no matter how hard you try. Sincerely, Shawn Preman, President Christian Roofing, Inc.

I called several people and they came out and gave me bids. I got Christian Roofing from Angie's List. He came out everyday, and he checked all the roofers when they were working, he would knock on my door and tell me how much they got done, he's a young kid but very reliable, they did what they said and they did it on time.
Description of Work: Christian Roofing Inc put in a new roof in my building last July.

The roof replacement was started at the time promised and completed over an approximate five day period. This time frame also included the time required for the additional sunroom/overhang work. Shawn kept me continuously informed on the roof teardown/replacement and of any additional problems/costs encountered (of which there were few). His roofing crew was efficient, courtesy, and at the end of each day ensured that the work area was left clean. All new wood surfaces were primed and painted (we supplied the paint) and the job was completed in the time expected. Bottom line is that I could not be happier with the work that was completed and with Christian Roofing for performing the work. The new roof looks great and I?m looking forward to many years without worrying about roof repairs/leaks. Shawn was on time for every scheduled appointment and ensured that the job was started on time, done correctly, and completed on time. One of the best aspects of working with Christian Roofing is that I was informed on every aspect of the work being completed. I also had the feeling that they sincerely cared about doing a good job and in making the customer satisfied. I would not hesitate on recommending Christian Roofing to anyone for any of their roofing needs. I am very thankful that I requested an estimate from this company and I appreciate the quality of work performed. If you need a roofing contractor that is professional, provides excellent customer service, and provides a quality product on-time, please consider Christian Roofing when requesting an estimate ? you won?t be sorry!!! Thanks again to Christian Roofing and Shawn Perman.
Description of Work: I contacted Christian Roofing Inc., along with three other roofing contractors, to request an estimate on a complete roof replacement. The tile roof was the original roof from 1978 (initial house construction) and was in desperate need of replacement. All four roofing contractors provided near identical pricing for both tile and shingle replacement. Christian Roofing owner, Shawn Preman, however, seemed to go the extra mile by spending additional time explaining different roofing options, potential upgrades, and providing multiple shingle/tile samples. Once we decided on new tile replacement, he again allotted more time to explain the differences in tile types/styles in addition to providing tile samples so we could color match to the existing exterior house paint/stucco. Christian Roofing also provided a more than reasonable estimate on the sealing/weatherproof coating of an attached flat sun room roof and the replacement of structural beam/beam supports to the front overhang. The pricing for this additional work was also reasonable and fell below the costing provided by the other estimates.

Our experience with Christian Roofing Inc. (CRI) has been outstanding from start to finish. We selected CRI after collecting quotes from two other companies, all of which we found through Angie?s List. I had actually decided to go with another company before Josh Preman came to bid the job, and I suspect my attitude clearly reflected that I was politely letting CRI make their bid when Josh Preman came to the house. He was not taken off stride at all. His consummate professionalism and enthusiasm for roofing in general and CRI in particular won me over. We had just bought a 35 year old house that we knew needed plenty of renovation and improvement, but we had limited access prior to closing, so we didn?t know the full picture. Replacing the roof was a given due to the many failures that had resulted from the poor original installation. The engineering report cleared us to upgrade from lightweight to standard weight tile, so my wife picked the color and we got started. CRI removed and disposed of the old tile, and they opened a section of the roof to enter the attic and remove the old insulation. As suspected, we discovered several issues with plumbing, AC, and electrical that needed to be upgraded prior to completing the roof and installing new insulation. This caused multiple delays for CRI, but Josh Preman and I had discussed the possibility of delays due to unknowns during planning, and he adjusted their calendar to whatever we needed and constantly kept his focus on making us satisfied customers. CRI replaced nearly 70% of the wood on the roof (that necessarily drove the cost up), and installed a feathered double layer of underlayment. The craftsmanship of the roof and the woodwork is exemplary. Once we finally settled on the colors to compliment the roof, Josh had all the flashing and vents painted to match. Further delays for stucco installation contributed to this project, but the end result of this project, which stretched painfully over three months for CRI and saw dozens of phone calls and emails between the ever cheerful and professional Josh Preman and myself, is a beautiful roof that is the talk of the neighborhood. My thanks to the Preman family for putting the crowning jewel on our new home, and our best wishes for their continued success. Christian Roofing Inc. has my highest personal and professional endorsement, and I strongly recommend including CRI in your bids for all your roofing needs. They will win your patronage with no contest.

It took them 4 day's for the job. They thought it was going to be 1 layer of roof and they saw it was going to be three. They showed me the proof before working. Always on time, and very respectful. They kept me in the loop everyday on any changes that needed to be made or not made. They didn't charge me right away. They sent me a bill in the mail. They also put in 5 vents on the roof for ventilation purposes.
Description of Work: They had to take off 3 layers of roof on 8 units. Also had termite damage and they had to remove the wood as well.

From the first meeting and walk through, the representative was courteous and informative providing numerous options to complete the job. The workers were always at the property on time. They were very conscious of cleanliness and protecting areas like flower beds and the swimming pool and the lawn. The options provided by the representative made it easy to establish a budget and stay within the budget which included significant wood replacement. Upon completion, the area was cleaned thorougly. The gutters were replaced to original condition and the workmanship was of best quality. I recommend this company for anyone considering a roof replacement.
Description of Work: Complete roof replacement including composit shingles and flat roof coatings. A lot of facia replacement due to termite damage and installation of roof vents and solar tubes.

All of the employees were very helpful and had excellent customer service. Josh went above and beyond by bringing out shingles and putting them on our roof so we could see how we liked the color. We could not even get the other company we were looking at to bring us their samples before we signed the contract. Christian roofing quote was also a little less.
Description of Work: Removed old roof and installed new one along with new skylight and tube light. Replaced some rotten boards and worked with us to resolve some issues with how the roof was originally put on. They made sure we were happy with the results with the complication of the old roof structure.
