+ -1 moreWhat a joy to find a small, one person business which is professional, courteous and responsive! Needing a tune-up for our increasingly noisy electric garage door, I called yesterday afternoon and left a voice mail at the company number, 619-593-9740. Yesterday evening I received two voicemails back from the and quot;Owner, Installerand quot; John Eveland. Speaking with John this morning I was able to schedule a 1pm service call. John called again at 12:30pm and said he was ahead of schedule if that worked for me. John arrived shortly thereafter with a truck fully equipped for garage door repairs. John was pleasant, direct and cheerful and I had every confidence in his work. 45 minutes later his work was complete and our garage door now hums whereas before it was clunky. I highly recommend working with Blaine Baker Garage Doors vice the large chain operations!

Description of Work: I used the services of Blaine Baker Garage Door Co. I have used them last year, September of 2013. My brother needed service and I needed emergency key for the garage door so I called him up, he came and change the lock and gave me the key and service the door to make sure everything was good. He charged me about $100 but it was very reasonable for the service and his quickness. He was the one who installed that garage door initially 3 years ago.

Description of Work: Our garage door is super old (25-30 years old) and was no longer opening completely. The door would not stay up in manual mode, which was dangerous. He replaced just about everything: cables, rollers, etc. In addition to fixing the door so it works and is safe, it is so much quieter. I didn't realize how much noise it used to make until we had newer and better parts installed. He also showed me how to maintain the door so the parts will last longer. If I do as instructed, he said we should not need any repairs for at least 5 years. He was very prompt and professional. Highly recommended!

He knows his stuff and got right to work fixing my problem. He was thorough, answered all my questions and guarantees his work. Once again, Angie's List provided me with a quality tradesman--someone who solves the problem, does the repair, cleans up the mess and goes on to the next job. He provided me with the appropriate paperwork and then a week later bothered to call back to check that everything was working well. My home repairs always seem to occur as emergencies...and once again, through the List, I have found a service provider that solves my problem at a fair price and very conveniently. I highly recommend Blaine Baker Garage Door. The best way to keep good people in business is to tell everyone you can about your experience. That's the beauty of the List--it reaches a large audience.
Description of Work: One of two heavy gauge steel springs on one side of my garage door failed...just broke in half. Of course that left the whole door out of balance and under terrific pressure to have bolts shearing off and flying around. Mayday, mayday! 4:30 on Friday afternoon on Easter weekend--it could only happen to me. I managed to get the door closed and my car parked on the street. I called my Homeowners Warranty company, but they only insure the motor, not the door itself or the hardware. So next I went on Angie's List and found John Eveland, owner of Blaine Baker Garage Doors. I chose him because of the great reviews and honest opinions of Angie's List readers. Thank you everyone for taking the time to write your reports! John came out first thing the next morning, evaluated the damage and in an hour had replaced all 4 of the springs, adjusted the height of the door which had gotten out of alignment and was hitting the concrete lip of the garage floor. He checked everything and did the minor maintenance package, which I appreciated. My garage door and the motor for it were new in 1986 and had only been serviced once in that 26 years! John did determine that because of the age of the door, the retraction or reverse function doesn't operate--a safety feature which is a requirement for all new doors now. Ideally, if the door that is closing touches something like a kid or dog, it stops and goes back up. I am hopeful that my Warranty insurance will cover the replacement.

We arranged to meet at a certain time to examine my garage door issues, and he was there at that time. That alone, not a typical contractor behavior, is enough to earn him high marks! His work was exemplary and his billing method excellent -- when the work is done, the bill is presented.

+ 0 moreI came to know about John Eveland and his company, Blaine Baker Garage Door Company, through my new found friend through Angie's list, Shawn Mullineaux, the owner of Gary's Gardening. When Shawn was working on our irrigation/sprinkler sysrem, I asked him if he fixed garage doors as well since he was also doing home improvements. Shawn said no but that he knew a reliable person that would do it for me, gave John's business card, called him, and he fixed the problem the next day. Came to find out that John Eveland was on Angie's list as well.. I was so happy and thankfull for all the blessing that came my way!!!
Description of Work: John Evelaqnd, the ownerof the company (he described himself as one man operation) did a thorough diagnostic procedure on our malfunctioning electric garage door. He was very knowlegeable about his job, he knew what he was doing, very efficient, well equipped, very professional and courteous. He fixed the problem in about an hour. He showed me that the belt was wearing out but the belt was not available locally,he was going to order from Washington State which would work out fine since the existing belt will hold up for a while. I asked him if he would be willing to come back to change the belt for me, and he said he would. He would be calling me as soon as the belt arrives.

+ 0 moreThey did an outstanding job. Jamie did the installation and he knew what he was doing. I had no complaints at all. He hauled away the old door. The price was competitive. They don't have a low price but it was reasonable.
Description of Work: I used Blaine Baker Garage Door to remove the old wooden garage door and they replaced it with a metal panel roll up. I had a mail slot on the side of the door and they cut a hole for that and reattached it. They also moved the existing garage door opener back and reattached the door to that.

I liked the fact that John did not try and up sell me a thing. He just did fixed the problem at hand. Very professional. + -1 moreOf all the garage door installers I contacted from Angieslist, Jon (the owner), from Blaine Baker Garage Doors, was the only one who came to my house, measured, went over different options, and wrote me an estimate on the spot. This type of customer service is amazing. Jon's price was competitve with all the other quotes I received and he uses a better quality garage door than his competitors. Needless to say I hired Jon. He special ordered my garage door and several weeks later removed my old garage door and installed the new one. He used my existing garage door opener and didnt try to upsell me on a new one (which I was expecting). Jon did an awesome job and was a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Special ordered a new garage door, removed and disposed of existing garage door, and installed new garage door using existing opener.

Description of Work: My neighbor's garage door opener stopped working, and since she is an older woman who lives alone and needed help, I looked on Angie's list. I gave her two names to choose from and she selected Blaine Baker garage door company. She called and told them what the trouble was. They gave her a ballpark estimate and made an appointment with them. The repair man showed up when he said he would, fixed the problem, and then he did light maintenance on the opener and tracks. My neighbor is thrilled with his punctuality as well as his thoroughness. I am happy for her that someone so trustworthy solved her problem. Once again, I am so happy there is such a resource as Angie's List.
