Overall, he was great. My two year old wanted him to stay and watch Sesame Street. $232.00 seemed high to me, but they do have the prices for each type of work pre-printed on the invoice, so you know that that price is always their price, and the technician isn't cheating you.
Description of Work: The air gap (thing on the top right corner of our kit sink which connects to the dishwasher) was broken, and our dishwasher drained all over our kitchen. Walter Anderson sent someone the next morning, and called 1/2 hour before to let me know he was on his way. Eddie arrived, and was very friendly and courteous. He was careful not to make more mess than was necessary, and cleaned up after himself. He was finished within 20 minutes, but then said he wanted to check our water pressure to see if it was too high, and maybe that's what broke the air gap. While checking the water pressure, he pointed out some rust and deterioration on our water heater, and suggested that we start thinking about replacing it. He gave me an estimate for a new one, and was very honest about the pros and cons of replacing it with a tank less heater.

They responded very quickly and because they had a crew available, gave us a good quote and started the next day. Their proposal was very easy to understand and covered all the topics of concern. They did everything they said they would in the time frame and price they quoted. The crew worked very quickly and did good quality work. There was some miscommunication about turning the water off. Initially we were told the water would only be off a few hours a day but they ended up turning it off all day every day. However, they made sure we had water when they were not working which we really appreciated. The two lead man spoke some English. After several small misunderstandings we realized that their English skills were more limited that we thought and that they often said 'yes' when they really didn't understand. So we learned to call the superintendent or project manager when we had serious questions. They did a great job working with the one unit owner who was very difficult. They showed infinite patience and talked her into letting them work in her unit when none of the rest of us could. The superintendent, project manager and estimator followed up regularly and responded immediately when we had questions or concerns. We were having some problems with the water being too hot and a few slow flowing faucets. They immediately sent a very affable plumber who fixed all the slow faucets. He wasn't very good at diagnosing the more difficult problem but showed me how everything worked so I was able to test the thermostat over the next couple of days and finally figure out that it was broken (I had the company that installed the water heater fix the thermostat). The estimator (reiterated by the project manager) asked us to pay half at the half-way point and the other half at the end which I thought was reasonable. I held 10% retention until all the unit owners agreed they were satisfied with the work. I only got one call asking for the payment and they waited the extra 10 days or so until I paid them the final 10%.
Description of Work: In ten working days, they rerouted the water for an 8 unit condo, added a recirculating system, then replaced and repainted the drywall.

Scheduled repair the same day I called. Only problem was that when I called I requested information on a tankless system and the technician they sent had never installed one and said that they would have to send another technician the next day. Both were punctual and professional. He advised us that a tankless system would not work in our house and promptly installed a new heater. I had a coupon for a free 1 year VIP Air and Heat maintenance agreement which he said he would take back to the office and ensured me that someone would call me in the next few days. No one did. I mentioned it to the follow up caller and they too told me someone would call to arrange it. It has been a few weeks and still no call. Other than that, the service and work was well done and I would use them for other plumbing needs.

Ryan was the technician who came and inspected my air conditioner, discovered it was not cooling properly due to being over-charged. Fixed the problem and noticed my thermostat didn't correlate with the air inside my house and what it was reading, so had him install a new one (the old thermostat still had the tubes of mercury; he disposed of it appropriately). Used the Honeywell model which is rated well with consumer reports. Worked hard getting everything working correctly and I have cold air!! He was great!

Anderson Plumber plumbed up gas line in back yard to 15 pounds. Asked Plumber to stay 15 minutes to make sure the pressure held at 15 pounds. The Plumber stayed, however, the pressure did not hold after he left. I failed the City Inspection. Now I needed to have the pressure test, and expose gas line to verify depth and tracer wire and type of piping material. I contacted another Plumber who completed a drop test which held at 15 pounds. The second Plumber said the first drop test wasn't completed properly. Maybe the first Plumber was new or didn't do the proper drop test at the gas line at the meter? I paid the second Plumber $157.00 for drop test, and digging up yard area to expose gas line and tracer wire per City Inspector. I contacted Anderson Plumbing and they were willing to send out the Plumber with the Supervisor, but no refund. I was told I should have contacted them to correct the problem. Anderson Plumber had 10 years of experience. I'm glad I contacted the second Plumber. I did pass the inspection because of his excellent work. The second Plumber came in the evening and didn't charge extra. Anderson Plumbing was courteous, etc. However, I will use the second Plumber for any problems in the future. Anderson Plumbing charges by the job and I believe they are too expensive. I even got a $42.00 discount from Anderson Plumbing for using Angie's List.

Excellent. I purchased a new dishwasher and the installer couldn't complete the job because the hot water shut-off valve was corroded. I called Anderson's at 3:00 and they had someone out first thing the next morning. He showed me what was wrong and gave me a written estimate to replace both valves. He was very polite and thorough. The quote was higher than I had hoped but I do feel I got my money's worth. I will definitely call Anderson's again.

Anderson Plumbing arrived on time, as promised and inspected the old water heater. The installer then presented me with three options and the associated prices. I chose the Basic Package, which includes free annual inspections of the water heater by Anderson. My water heater (and furnace) sit in a closet on the exterior of my house. For some ridiculous reason, the closet is elevated which means that the floorboards eventually sag under the weight of both appliances, not to mention the wet floor from my old water heater. The installer from Anderson helped me locate some plywood from my yard and offered to reinforce the floor before installing the new water heater. He did this very willingly and at no charge. Once the water heater was installed, he went through its features and benefits and instructed us on certain safety issues.
Description of Work: Anderson Plumbing removed our broken water heater and replaced it with a new one.

Outstanding. Everything was done professionally, on time and correctly. We had an unexpected problem with a shower that did not perform properly after the new water heater was installed. Matt diagnosed the problem and fixed it. e are very pleased with the new system and the service we received. We signed a service contract with the company for the future..

They were amazing!!! They were so thorough in inspecting our pipes to determine the problem. They were very professional & always on time. We were expecting the worst from this experience, but they made it as unobtrusive as possible (and even managed to save some of our travertine tile that they had to remove so we could put it back afterwards). A BIG thanks to Kyle, our tech! Would definitely recommend this company!!
Description of Work: We originally called Andersons to have them fix a slow draining kitchen sink (that the previous plumber was unable to repair). Upon a very thorough inspection process, they found that a pipe had burst in our slab. They showed us the problem by using a small camera to scope the area. They had to jackhammer through our slab to access the bad pipe, replace it & fill in the slab w/cement. Also needed to replace reverse osmosis system & a couple corroded hose bibs.

It was a Saturday, so they charged $99 (more than their Mon-Fri service charge) to come out. They diagnosed a slab leak on the output side of the hot water heater. They said they did not have the equipment to locate it. They said that they could come back Monday to detect the leaks location, and it would be $328 just to detect the leak. My insurance company recommended another plumbing company to locate the leak. They would locate the leak for $200. I chose to go with the other company for the repair also. My feeling was if just the leak detection was over 50% more at Anderson, the repair estimate would be significantly higher as well, and I did not wish to pay more for another service call just to get that bit of information.
Description of Work: Our hot water supply was not keeping up with demand. Also, we could hear water running with no fixtures or hose bibs turned on. We called Anderson to come out and check on the problem.

I WANT TO THANK THIS ANGIE’S LIST SUBSCRIBER FOR HIS POSITIVE COMMENTS. I APPRECIATE HE ACKNOWLEDGED OUR PROFESSIONALISM, PUNCTUALITY & RESPONSIVENESS. WE WORK HARD TO ENSURE OUR CUSTOMERS GET NOTHING BUT THE BEST IN SERVICE. I AM GLAD TO KNOW HE NOTICED & MENTIONED THESE ATTRIBUTES. HAD WE PERFORMED HIS REPAIRS, I AM CONFIDENT HE WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME. I WANT TO ADDRESS HIS CONCERNS. HIS FIRST WAS A $99.00 WEEKEND SERVICE FEE. ON SATURDAYS WE TAKE CALLS AT OUR USUAL & CUSTOMARY RATE, $42.00. THE FEE IS WAIVED FOR ANGIE’S LIST SUBSCRIBERS. WHEN THOSE APPOINTMENTS ARE FILLED, WE CALL OUR AFTER HOUR TECHNICIANS. AFTER HOURS FEES FOR ANY WORK WE PERFORM NEVER CHANGE. BUT SINCE WE PAY OVER TIME HOURS TO OUR AFTER HOURS TECHNICIANS, WE CHARGE A HIGHER SERVICE FEE TO COVER THOSE COSTS. THAT IS THE $99.00 SERVICE FEE MENTIONED. THIS FEE IS ALWAYS DISCUSSED AND AGREED UPON BEFORE A TECHNICIAN IS DISPATCHED. REGARDING OUR PRICING, WE SPECIALIZE IN LEAK REPAIR AND HAVE REPIPE CREWS WHO PERFORM ONLY THIS TYPE WORK. OUR PRICES ARE COMPETITIVE, NOT ON THE HIGH END. WE HAVE THESE PROCESSES SO FINE TUNED IT IS HARD FOR OTHER COMPANIES TO COMPETE. IT IS POSSIBLE THE INSURANCE CARRIER HAD SOMEONE ON FILE THAT PERFORMS DISCOUNTED LEAK DETECTION. I WISH WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO QUOTE THE REPAIR FOR THIS CLIENT. I BELIEVE COMPARING APPLES TO APPLES OUR OVERALL SERVICE, QUALITY OF WORK, PROFESSIONALISM AND WARRANTIES WOULD HAVE BEEN UNBEATABLE.

They were fabulous! I felt that they were professional, efficient, and they were honest. I asked them to do a couple of other tasks and when they looked it over they informed me that there was nothing wrong with that part of the house (they could have easily told me something was wrong and charged me, but they didn't). I would use them again.

We developed a slab leak. Unfortunately, the leak was directly under our kitchen sink which meant we had the option of tearing up the newly-remodeled floor and cabinets to repair it, or re-routing the plumbing up and out of the slab (which meant tearing holes in the walls from the garage to the kitchen). Luckily, we found out about a third option - epoxy coating. In SD there are two choices, Curaflo or Ace-Duraflo (which is distributed by Anderson). We decided on Anderson after getting several estimates as the price differential was negligible and we felt their company integrity and customer service would be superior to the others. So far, that strategy proved correct. From our first phone call, Anderson was responsive and responsible and we are overall very happy with the work they performed. My only minor complaint is that the finish guy showed up really late both days. But, his work was so good and he was so friendly, it was hard to be mad at him.

JOSE AND JOSH SPENT FIVE AND ONE HALF DAYS ON THIS PROJECT. THEY TRENCHED UNDER THE GARAGE FOUNDATION; CUT 24 FEET OF CEMENT GARAGE FLOOR AND DUG A TRENCH; THEN TUNNELED UNDER THE FOUNDATION ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GARAGE. THEY TUNNELED UNDER A SIDEWALK AND DUG DOWN FIVE FEET TO LOCATE THE OLD PIPE TO THE SEPTIC TANK. THEY CUT THAT LINE AND JOINED THE NEW DRAIN TO IT. THEY SENT A CAMERA THROUGH ALL THE DRAINS TO LOCATE AND EVALUATE THE CONDITION. THEY ALSO INSTALLED FOUR NEW FAUCETS FOR THE LAUNDRY AND GAVE US TWO NEW HOSES FOR THE WASHING MACHINE. THEY POURED NEW CEMENT TO COVER THE TRENCH IN THE GARAGE. THEY WERE CAREFUL TO USE PLASTIC SHEETING TO PROTECT THE GARAGE AND ONE ROOM FROM THE CEMENT DUST. BOTH WERE CHEERFUL AND SEEMED TO ENJOY THE CHALLENGE OF GETTING THE JOB DONE.

Considering the scope of the project, it went very well. The plumbers, in particular, did a great job. They completed the repiping portion of the job in only four days. We were dreading the mess and not having water overnight, but the plumbers left the house in very neat condition, and made every effort to ensure that we would have water available where we needed it. We had a bathroom with toilet. Sinks and shower working every night/morning, and were without water in the kitchen only one night/morning. We had water available in the laundry room every night/morning. The drywall and painting took somewhat longer than anticipated. First, there was no one available to begin the work the day after the City inspector came, so that delayed things for a day. Then, because the work was going slowly, the drywall worker asked if he could come for a half day on a Saturday. We reluctantly agreed. The drywall ended up taking parts of 7 days. Overall, we are very happy with the work.
Description of Work: The project entailed complete repiping of our house with copper pipes. The repiping was necessary because the house was built with defective polybutene pipes, which had leaked at a number of locations. In order to repipe, the plumbers had to cut a number of holes through walls and ceilings throughout the house. After the repiping was finished, workers repaired the holes and repainted.
