The service technician (o.k., Plumber) was right on time. I like the fact that the dispatcher calls you 30 minutes ahead of his arrival to let you know. My plumber, Ken, was very experienced and did the requested work with little problem. a few stubborn bolts to loosen, but the job was finished with no other problems. The estimates I had requested were given, and ken even had some alternate suggestions on future work. I very much appreciate alternative solutions to a project. besides coupons, if you schedule work to be done on a Friday, they will donate a portion to the Susan Koman foundation. I think that is a great idea. I will be using them again in the near future, as a house remodel slowly drains my wallet, perhaps they could fix THAT leak? I would not hesitate to call them again when I need plumbing service.
Description of Work: Replaced two (old) fixtures and provided several estimates for plumbing work on upcoming remodel.

AC went out on my rental property on a very hot day. I called around and Anderson Plumbing was able to come out later that same day. Other companies had a 3-4 day wait. The technician did a good job but I felt that they were more interested in selling me additional items and services. I suspected that I was paying too much , but they kind of have you over a barrel since it's hot and you need your AC repaired. My unit had a cooling system R22 recharged, but they were trying to sell me some other items to a tune of almost $2,000. I did sign up for their VIP service which is their service to come out twice a year to check your unit. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have bought that service. A couple of days later when my primary residence AC went out and Anderson was not available, I hired someone else to come out. I asked that company what it cost to recharge the R-22. Turns out I paid 2.5 time too much for the R-22 through Anderson Plumbing compared to this other company

Amazingly well! The crew worked like surgeons, only opening small holes and very carefully replacing the entire water system. They also replaced the pressure regulator, hot water heater and 1 shower valve. The drywall and repair guy was careful and his work blended perfectly with the walls. The job was done on budget and in 1 day less than estimated. I have known since I bought the property that this was needed - I am really happy that I had Anderson do the project.

When I called the office, the lady who answered was cheerful and helpful. She assured me that the company does provide service in my rural town (not at all always the case!). She gave me a same-day time frame for the repair, and called me back during the latter part of that window to assure me that I was not forgotten, and that the next technician freed up would be sent to my house. The plumber arrived within the given time frame. He was polite and professional, and, as far as I can tell, did a very good job with the repair. He also provided me with the upfront cost of what would be done, and told me that, if certain things were wrong, the job would go to the next tier of their price schedule. As it turned out, when the P trap was removed, the other pipes to which it was attached came off with it as well . I was shown the pipes, and the damage on them, and told they needed to be replaced at the higher price. I agreed, since I needed the sink repaired, and since the work was already under way. The sink no longer leaks, so, in that respect, I am completely satisfied with the service. However. When I received a call back from the company that afternoon, and was asked, on a scale of 1 to 10, how likely I would be to recommend them to a friend, I said "6". The lady was still polite, but sounded distinctly unhappy, alas! I explained to her that I appreciated the professionalism, the quality of the work, and the fact that, thankfully, they had come out to my town and repaired the leak the same day. I said the "6" was because, quite frankly, the cost of the work was above what I had anticipated. (For better or worse, my mental budget for the repair topped out at $300. The actual cost was 50% above that.) Would I use them again? If I had an emergency repair that needed to be done the same day by someone whose work I could trust, and I could bite the bullet on the cost, yes, I would. If I had a more major, longterm, project, such as an upgrade, repiping the house, or the installation of new plumbing (such as an additional toilet, or a fully-plumbed sink in the detached laundry room), I would definitely shop around!

A little pricey, but the technician (Jerry) took a look at the job, explained what should be done, got my okay and got right to work. Took about 45 minutes to complete the job. Would definitely use Anderson again. Note: The person who answered their phone pointed my to an Angie's List coupon that saved me $42. I appreciate this unexpected savings!

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE "A" RATINGS as I was, take time to read the reviews by the members. My tenant called to inform me that the water heater was leaking and of course it happened on a Sunday. So, off to Angie's List I went to find a reputable plumbing company that could go out and fix the problem. The first company I called was unable to send anyone out until Monday. No good for the tenants, they need hot water. The next company to call, going down the list of 'A' reviews, was Anderson Plumbing Heating and Air. They had 'A' ratings down the board; except for price, which is a 'B'. I thought "all A's and a "B" in pricing is fine, they might be a little high, but I need the work done for my tenants to have hot water. When the plumber (Alex) got there and assessed the problem, the water heater had failed, he called and gave me two quotes for the installation of a new water heater. He also provided a quote for the temporary water heater to provide hot water to the tenants . The first quote for a 40 gallon deluxe water heater (which I didn't choose) was quoted at $2232. The other one, a standard 40 gallon water heater (which I did choose) was quoted at $1757. The price included 5 years parts and labor, 9 year tank warranty, 1 annual tune up and city permit and inspection. The installation of the temporary water heater was quoted at $578. The quotes did seem high, but not knowing anything about water heaters or the cost of replacing them and the urgency of having hot water for the tenants, I decided to go with Anderson Plumbing Heating and Air. The next day after doing some research on the internet and calling several other "A" rated companies on Angie's list; it is overwhelmingly apparent that they do overcharge for the installation of water heaters. The range of removing, installing and getting the water heater permit from the city was from $945 to $1398. The only difference in the product was in the warranty, they provide a 9 year warranty and the other companies provide a 6 year warranty. The owner (Mary Jean Anderson) in her rebuttals about high prices tries to justify the high cost due to overhead, i.e., trucks fully equipped, 2 million in liability insurance, tracking their technicians, etc. Personally; as a customer - all I am concerned about is finding a company that provides a good product at a reasonable and competitive price. I did contact a manager (Devon) at Anderson Plumbing Heating & Air. Super nice guy, listened to my story and defended the pricing of replacing the water heater with the same material as the owner. He did graciously offered $200 off the price. At the end of our conversation he did state that he would like to receive a good review but that the company could absorb a bad review. Overall: C rating, the pricing drags down the rating while the responsiveness and Professionalism brings it back up. One final note: If someone asks me to recommend a plumber, the first words out of mouth will be "Don't Call Anderson Plumbing Heating & Air, they charge too much".

Response from Anderson Plumbing Heating & Air
First I want to again thank Angie's List for the service they offer. I truly believe this program is a great service to the community and to us as contractors who really care about doing things well, right and with integrity. I also sincerely appreciate this customers review as it is important to me to be the best we can be. The only way we can do that is with your honest opinions whether we like them or not. Also I want to thank this customer for the A and B ratings and responsiveness quality etc. As far as pricing goes I will again check with competitors who offer equal value and compare our prices to theirs. In this exercise in the past I have found companies that offer equal value are priced equally. I have also found that when prices are given over the phone by companies typically for a bare-bones installation and once the contractor gets out to the house the price changes as new shut off valves, earthquake strapping and other necessary parts for replacement are added. Our price is always complete, given up front and include everything necessary to ensure the water heater will pass inspection, is done to code and you won't have to call us out in another year or two because something else is leaking that is associated with water heater but wasn't changed out in the initial install. Two other very important points are 1. Other companies with lower pricing would not respond on Sunday but we were there right away and at the time promised with a great product a longer warranty and professional install including governing body permit and inspection. Let's say this water heater leaks on a Sunday or even in the middle of the night during the week. It can happen even when the workmanship is perfect, occasionally a valve or another part could be defective. As the house or garage is flooding who is going to be there little in the night to make the necessary repairs and clean up the water damage? I can guarantee it will be us. We will be there right away and we have $2 million liability in the event major damages are caused. We have true seven days a week 24 hours a day emergency service. If companies he called would not come out on a Sunday where will they be in the event there is an emergency. This tenant and the customer will be on there own. 2. The customer clearly states it just about price. The extended warrantee, coming out on Sunday were of no value to him. Yet we did come out on Sunday and provided the service with a fully stocked truck. We did not have to inconvenience the homeowner or the tenant with a second trip since we had everything on the truck to do the job right upon arrival which included haul-away and recycling of the old water heater. Again had one of these companies who quoted the lower price had been willing to come out on Sunday most likely they would've had to go pick up a water heater and necessary supplies, there would've been an extra charge for coming out on Sunday and for the haul-away. If you have read this far in my lengthy response, I truly appreciate you wanting to hear both sides to the story. I also guarantee that if you choose to call our company you will be met with a technician who is timely, experienced, and will give you the options and pricing up front before any work is performed, so there are no surprises. He will have had a criminal background check done, drug tested, the pedophile registry checked, had to complete physical and comprehensive personality and technical tests. He will come with a fully stock truck prepared to do your job right then and there. I will be there for you personally in the event something goes wrong 7 day a week, 24 hours a day including holidays. Thank you, Mary Jean Anderson, President/Owner

Ricardo worked very hard to get the shower drain open and finally had to cut out 2 sections of the wall in an adjoining bathroom to get to the pipe he needed. I was not expecting to pay that much for such a minor repair. This was my fault (as my wife reminds me) because I did get a quote and thought it was too much but went with them anyway (they're already there). The "free service call" coupon doesn't mean a thing when they charge so much for a simple repair that only took 30 minutes. They did a good job, showed up on time, and was very professional, but the value is not there.

My experience with them was terrible. I had to call his manager while he was on site. I wouldn’t recommend them at all. He came and analyzed the job. He gave me a price initially but then all of a sudden it went to $500 then $750 and then it was $1000. After I spoke with the manager, they got the price down magically again. It was the weirdest situation I have really ever had. It was a really bad experience. He did do the job as he was already in the middle of the job. The manager tried to reconcile it.

We were in the middle of a bathroom remodel & unexpectedly discovered that we needed a plumber to replace the angle valves before the sinks could be removed (we were expecting to replace when installing the new). Our plumber was not available to come out that quickly so we called Anderson. Their service was noticeably exceptional. They are very professional, courteous, and attentive. They scheduled a plumber to come out the next day. The technician was on time and again service and professionalism was great until we got the $808 bill for installing $20 parts in all of 20 minutes. When we questioned this, he gave us a $40 discount as a "VIP member." (Normally you have to pay $100 to be a VIP member!) I understand paying more for better service, but this is ridiculous. I would only recommend Anderson to folks who can afford to throw away a few hundred dollars to ensure a nice plumbing experience.

After a terrible experience with Griffin, who sent a guy that looked like he was just released and who failed in an expensive job, we called Anderson. They sent a fine young man, a true pro, who repaired everything that had been done wrong. The cost seemed a bit pricey, but these days, what does not. The main thing is that everything now works fine and some bad memories were erased by excellent service. We know who we will do business with in the future, and who we will not.
