Responsiveness: I called to make the apt. with an AL coupon for a free service call, which ends up is free to everyone every Weds. I asked about pricing and was told that it was determined by the job at the time of the visit so they could not quote it over the phone. This upset me, because when the tech showed up, he explained that it's fixed rate pricing and showed me that it is clearly displayed on their service contract. Punctuality: I was also told that my apt. was between noon and four and I would receive a call 30 minutes before my tech arrived. I was called at 3:00 and told the tech would arrive in 45 minutes and I commented that my time was 12-4, and was told then that it meant I would be called between 12-4 that was not my apt. time, however that is not what I understood when I made the apt. 3:05 I was called back and told my tech had a flat tire so I had to wait for another tech or until the tire was fixed and did I want to reschedule for tomorrow, I said no because I have already waited three hours. At 4:11 I was called and thanked for my patience and told my tech was on the way. The tech arrived at 4:39 and although all were polite, being late is unacceptable and thanking me for my patience does not make up for wasting my time. Professionalism: The tech arrived and introduced himself and began to put on his pink booties. I pointed across the street and said, is that your van blocking the fire hydrant? He said yes, and commented that he thought it was better than parking in handicapped, and was willing to take his chances in the fire lane. I said you are welcome to take your chances parking in the fire lane but please don't block the fire hydrant. There was ample parking, on both sides of the street, including right in front of my house, so why he chose to block the fire hydrant, is just beyond me. I also pointed out that he could park in any open spot, I will say that the spots are numbered, so often it is assumed they are restricted parking, although they are not and there is no signage indicating that parking is restricted. I thought I shared this information when I made the apt. but I'm not 100% that I did. He said he would be happy to move his van and he did then returned to the front door. Pricing: It was extremely high $551.00 to change out a faucet I supplied, at most for one hour worth of work. I declined the offer and told the tech the price was much too high, I could do it myself but was recovering from hip surgery, and frankly I would not have wasted his time or mine, if they had quoted a price on the phone. Then, AP&H, proceeded to waste more of my time as I listened to my tech Larry deliver his speech about how great they are and I had to sign and initial for services I was not receiving. I was also asked to complete a mail in and on-line survey, which could result in a $1,000 refund of the $0 amount I paid, and all of this was delivered to me in a pretty pink package. If Mary Jean Anderson concentrated her efforts on delivering a good value, rather than "fluff" and deforestation, perhaps she would have earned my business.
Description of Work: The provider showed up nearly 40 minutes late, my four hour window was 12-4 hour and quoted me a price of $551.00 to change out a kitchen faucet with a customer supplied part. They offered a "way-low weds" discount so the price w/b$ $468.00 for about one hour of work. NO THANK YOU!

Although he did not completely resolve the problem in one visit, he definitely made out life better - we would have spent way more on a hotel if he hadn't cleared out what he did. He was professional and answered all of our questions. Very nice and pleasant man. Overall, I think he did the best job possible. Does a major plumbing issue ever happen on anything other than a Sunday? I actually asked our plumber this. He told me Thanksgiving and Christmas are big days too :)
Description of Work: The plumber arrived very quickly on a Sunday and diagnosed our whole house backflow. Every drain was backflowing and we could not use anything! He found the problem and unfortunately it was the roots from a big tree in our front yard. He cleaned out enough so we could use the toilets and drains and gave us a coupon for a camera inspection and repair that the weekday crew can do and find out just how deep the roots are and if there are other areas that are a problem (he didn't have the camera equipment or the big digging equipment...he is their weekend on call plumber). We will schedule it for tomorrow morning.

Scheduling was very easy - they gave me a four hour window, and called me within that time. I was unavailable, so we rescheduled. The guy was prompt. But their pricing was unacceptable. I needed 1 hour of work, re-soldering the connection on my water main as it enters the house, so I could change the pressure regulator to compensate for San Diego Water's high pressure. Anderson has a set price for this - $717. This was so far out of line I couldn't believe. The plumber was willing to negotiate down, but not to a point where it was reasonable. The only reason I didn't give them an F overall is that I used an Angie's list coupon to offset the service call charge.
Description of Work: I asked for a bid to replace a pressure regulator.

Terrible. First, without asking me, he took pictures of all my plumbing in the house. That was an invasion of my privacy and property. Second, he kept calling me trying to sell me services. This is the second time he has done this even though the first time I told him he had no permission to take pictures. This time he did it not telling me. I am not sure I am going to renew my service. They are very expensive and I am not sure the quality and the VIP status is worth the amount of money that Angie's List provides in their big bargains. Anderson's Plumbing has no business taking pictures of my plumbing without my permission. They keep it on record. They use a cell phone.

I didn't see much point of calling back after I had already purchased units from a different company. I further discovered your messages had been left on my fax phone. I had made a point of which phone to call. The final quote I received from Anderson was still lacking. The company I went with, Action Air, gave me several quotes with different options and came to my house with brochures and a presentation so that I could make an informed decision. They also have me Costco pricing that gave me 10% back, Anderson never said anything about Costco pricing.
Description of Work: The routine maintenance of my furnace revealed a need for a new AC/furnace. The proposal I received was written on a memo pad with no description, just parts numbers and a $9700 price tag. They didn't even get my name right. I couldn't get sales to return my calls. I have no heat and need a new system asap. I called another company and got immediate response with a professional detailed presentation 2 days after inspecting my system. I called Anderson one more time to get proposal and I got nothing. The customer service is terrible if not non existent. They really dropped the ball on this sale.

Thank you to Angie’s list for providing a platform where customers and business owners can interact with one another. I would like to clarify a few things in Doris's review. Yes, when our technician first came to the property he discovered Doris's system had multiple issues and it would be more feasible for Doris to replace the furnace rather than pay for repairs. The total cost of said repairs would be as much as a new furnace. Yes, my technician drew up a proposal in which he incorrectly put Doris's info and the proposal was not in Andersons normal, expanded format. For that we apologize. There is no excuse for either of those problems to occur. We at Anderson learn from our mistakes, in order to provide the best customer service possible and to avoid making the same mistakes in the future. Where our facts do not match up is when Doris states she called our offices numerous times and could not get an answer. That is simply not true. Doris was in correspondence with a woman who is a Manager in our HVAC division. Doris was emailing back and forth, with said Manager, and was sent a properly formatted and written proposal(we have the emails to corroborate). From our understanding, there was a drop in communication at some point for some reason. When this review was originally posted our Customer Service Manager called Doris and asked her to call us back so that we can attempt to rectify the situation. Since then, we have attempted to contact Doris numerous times. We of course want to resolve the situation, but unless the customer calls back we are left without a resolution.

Chris B, my service specialist, not only removed my old earthquake valve and replaced it with a new one, but moved the arm on which it is located in, so that it would not poke out the way it used to, and be subject to bumping by the gardener. That bumping would shut the gas off in the entire house, no small issue, and Chris did this without me even knowing to ask for it. Nor did he charge me one penny more than the price I had already paid on special. I am very happy with the work. Chris is personable, has a "can-do spirit", and does an excellent as well as timely job.It has been six months since he installed the unit, and I have not had one problem with it! Thanks so much Andersons!

I placed a frantic call to Anderson's because SDG&E had red flagged our water heater as unsafe. There was a small amount of carbon being returned into the garage. Our home was to close escrow on Monday 12/1 and we needed this repaired ASAP. The biggest problem was we didn't find out until 11/25 and we had Thanksgiving coming up in two days. Anderson's did their best to get a service person out explaining they could send someone after hours and they would still honor the coupon. It turned out the service person arrived during working hours, explained what was needed and had it fixed within the hour. Anderson's you are a life saver!! (And it all started with the helpful receptionist, Julie - you're the best!)

,First of all, there is a gas leak at the hot water heater, and the Anderson plumber did not carry a gas sensor with him. Green gel was all he had to test. My house inspector had a meter and it clearly made loud beeping "gas is present" noises. I do NOT have a leak at the main meter. There are lots of issues with the plumbing at this old house but the Anderson plumber didn't inspect the house plumbing. If he had looked at all of the systems, carried the appropriate tools and quoted a reasonable price, Anderson would have had a customer --- But he did not. Come on?no gas leak and wanted $200 to tighten the line which wasn't leaking anyway. And DID NOT find the actual gas leak ---- yikes!!! Definitely, NOT going to call this group again.
Description of Work: ANDERSON plumbing is organized and professional, but the plumbers obviously work on a commission basis. I have a small gas leak on my water heater --- the Anderson plumber sprayed green gel on some of the lines and said that I didn't have a leak there, but said there was a leak at the house gas meter, and that I didn't have a valve to flush the hot water heater. The cost to repair would be $700 but he could do it that day after going to the supply house and returning with the part.

We would also like the opportunity to clarify several points in Ms. [removed member name] review. There are two sides to every story and we truly appreciate Angie’s List business model which allows us to respond. First of all, NO WORK was ever performed at the home, short of our technician doing a thorough inspection of the tankless water heater and leak detection. Our technician would have checked the homes plumbing system but Ms. [removed member name], who was unhappy with the first plumbing companies evaluation, would not allow us the opportunity to enter the home. We were only allowed access to the tankless water heater located in the garage. The tankless water heater DOES NOT have any service valves. SERVICE VALVES NEED TO BE PRESENT IN ORDER TO SERVICE A TANKLESS WATER HEATER. We quoted her our flat-rate price to add them and bring the system up to code but Ms. [removed member name] had issue with it. The “gas sensor” is basically a frivolous piece of equipment, true professionals don’t really need them. All the sensor does is say if gas is present. It does not indicate where the leak is located or how severe the leak is. Any good plumbing technician, with proper education, training and expertise, should be able to detect gas on their own without the “sniffer”. The “green gel” is a standard detection system that all plumbers SHOULD use. Gel is applied to pipe, if a leak is detected, the gel will bubble. Which precisely pinpoints leaks, rather than equipment that just beeps. Plumbers used to use the soap technique, but it was found that soap was corrosive on pipes. Our technician DID discover a leak located at a fitting located on the branch line that comes off the gas meter and is connected to the tankless hot water heater. Our Technician NEVER said there was a leak at the meter, but at the fitting TO the meter. We gave an estimate to NOT JUST TIGHTEN but to REPLACE the fitting all together. Tightening would not be the proper way to fix this issue, and Andersons does not believe in inferior work, so we NEVER said we would just “tighten the line”. Our technicians DO NOT, nor will they ever, work on a commission basis. Working on a commission basis encourages overselling and can detour customer needs. We are true professionals offering what the customer needs and options to those needs. Our employees instead, have incentives on performing the highest quality workmanship and top quality customer service. We implement systems, using customer feedback, quality control inspections, call to our customers “happy checks” and other customer feedback such as Review Buzz, Angie’s List and Yelp, in which customers can leave negative/positive feedback on our employees’ performance. If we find the customers are more than happy and the quality work performed is top notch our technicians are rewarded. Systems like this ensure that our customers are more than satisfied and our employees are stipend for over the top service Again, thank you to this customer for noticing our A rated professionalism and the A rating on timeliness. Thank you to you Angie’s List for offering this great service to the consumer and to us business professionals who truly want to be the best we can be.

This was a tough circumstance as it involved more than just a water heater replacement, but coordination with and insurance adjuster, water damage containment contractor, and a contractor to rebuild the damaged foundation. I found Anderson Plumbing to be very expensive for the services they performed; but more so challenging was the fact that there was no single point of contact, but a separate vertical structure (within the company) for water heaters and HVAC, compounded by the fact that at each step, a different Anderson technician was sent out requiring an education of what had happened and what then needed to be done. So I give credit to Anderson for doing their best to resolve the situation. The one disturbing point the did not sit well with me and is cause for my doubts in using them again is when they sent a 2nd technician to look at the newly installed water heater as there was still water collecting in the area, and also to to a "temp set". Their 2nd technician wanted to know why the 1st technician installed a water heater on such an unstable, saturated foundation - I said I did not know. The 2nd technician then proceeded to tell me the pressure from my water in line to the water heater was too high and I needed a pressure regulator and that for another $+700 he could install one. Well, considering this was the 2nd technician they sent out, where the 1st technician saw the initial water damage first hand and leaking old water heater, why did he also check the pressure line BEFORE installing a new water heater? In all, there had to be close to 10 separate visits, and 4-5 different technicians and 2 different management streams involved in this within Anderson Plumbing - it just didn't work well. I may use them again, but if given more time, I would certainly shop around for more competitive pricing; and additionally, I would likely not use Anderson to troubleshoot a situation involving one our more areas of plumbing, heating and air, given their silo'd reporting & revenue structure.

Anderson's Energy Technician, CJ, did an awesome job & explained everything to my satisfaction. I love how Anderson's technicians respect my home & cover their boots/shoes before entering. Initially, there was a billing issue. When I scheduled the appointment I understood the Precision Tune Up was $89 for both the Furnace and A/C. However the day of I learned that the PTU for the Furnace was $89 & PTU for the A/C was $89 plus a charge for coming to the condo. I contacted Customer Service & they worked with me to clear up the misunderstanding. Once again, respecting me the customer. My Furnace and A/C are doing fine; however, they are old and inefficient. I plan to save money or get a Home Equity Line of Credit, and have the entire system replaced with a newer energy efficient system next year. I will definitely work with Anderson Plumbing on this, & will request CJ. He did such a good job & provided great customer service, my neighbors are planning on scheduling their PTU with him.

Leo and Austin had to dig all day through major tree roots and rocks in 95 degree heat to get to the source of the leak. They were both pleasant and hard working. We had a minor glitch at the end, but it all worked out. We also joined Anderson's VIP membership. I would use them again.
