We noticed that the hot air was not coming out of the registers when the blower motor came on for our furnace. We scheduled a service call, and the tech came the next day. He discovered that a main vent tube/duct had collapsed where it joins into the junction box for some other ducts. He repaired the problem and tested the furnace. We used an Angie's coupon for $30, and the cost was only $60 out of pocket. The tech, Gene, was very professional, and also quite friendly. Highly recommended!

Outstanding work by Gene from Airmaxx. Friendly, professional, prompt, and understanding that AC repair is expensive. Willing to work with me, going through step-by-step what needed to be fixed and what could wait. Gene was also very knowledgeable about what he was doing and could talk to me about it in lay terms. Excellent job!

My quote was about $13,000 or $14,000 and I told the guy from Airmaxx Inc. it was a lot of money and I'll think about it. He just kept on pressuring and told me it's really not a lot of money. He was just really rude and he just kept on calling me every day asking what's the news? What's the outcome? I told him I would call him because we still hadn't gotten all the quotes yet and that I would call him back. He told me he needed to know now. He didn't need to know now, my husband got really mad because to us, that is a lot of money. It's a lot of money to pay out to a company. We didn't want to rush it we wanted to take our time because it is the smartest way to do it. But he needed to know now. Even after I told them I would call them he still was calling me every day. My husband got really irritated and so we told him we weren't going with him and then he got mad and said he wasted his time with us and that he gave us a really good deal and that he wasted his time coming out and giving me an estimate. I was thinking that's what you do. Then he told me it's better for them not to have us as customers anyway, that he didn't want to have me as a customer either because we wanted to get other quotes. So I guess that was not okay for us to get other quotes I take it, but that's what people do, when you are spending $15,000. He was telling me about the good reviews they had, but when I asked if I could call them for references he said he didn't have their phone number. When I got bids for the pool those people gave me references of people to call in my area to see how they did with their job. We aren't talking $15,000, we are talking $7,000 to $8,000, but still half the price and they gave me references I could call to see how the company worked out for them. He refused to give that to me. He showed me people's reviews on Yelp and stuff, but anybody can go on there and type something up, you can make ten different accounts looking like different people, but still the same person is writing that review. That company is horrible.

My home was built in the 50's and presented access problems due to an add-on and a flat roof. Alex Goldman and I discussed my priority of cooling the added bedroom and kitchen and he convinced me that the whole house duct system (verses a split/room specific) was the way to go, quoted a good price and provided a 3yr 0% financing option that convinced me to sign on the spot. The crew showed up about 1/2 hour earlier than the appointment time on both days. One of the guys insists that 7:30 a.m. is the equivalent of 8-ish so be ready. These guys work non-stop and put in a long day. They were very respectful of my home and did not treat it like a job site. They put down protective cloth where necessary and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. A ceiling fixture came loose just from vibration (unforseeable risk due to location of fixture), it fell and broke and Alex replaced it with something comparble in looks but it was an expensive piece so after I spoke with him he also compensated with a reasonable cash differential. It took several appointments during a 3 month timeframe to get the system working correctly. A lot of this was ligitimate trial and error but there was a bit of a communications breakdown b/c the crew would interject conflicting information and perform a different task than what Jason and I concluded. Jason always listened and was very patient with me, the frustration of the situation and his commitment to methodically resolving the problem. In hindsight, even the setbacks were a blessing in that they each revealed something new and lead us to a better outcome. I knew I needed insualtion and intended to put it in after the duct work. Thankfully, Airmaxx was able to do this for me and we added on to the financing as a separate work order. They again gave me a very fair price that was comparable to earlier quotes and I feel I got more for my money b/c they knew to add roof vents and provided a higher r-value than I would have gotten from an independent insulation service who would have no vested interest in how their work affected my A/C performance. The last and final adjustment was Jason spending an hour or so working with the air flow and brining the house to a consistent temperature throughout. I also want to mention that the electrical component to having the A/C work done resolved other issues that I was having with the distribution/load to the breakers. I had been living with the electrical "strategy" of an old house and with the adjustments they made to accomodate the A/C I eliminated another fix on the never ending list of things to address. I am very thankful that I chose Airmaxx b/c my home was a challenge and even though it wasn't always a clear path to the end result, I would not want to be in the hands of anyone other than these guys. They won't let you down, they are determined to get it right, they explain the facts of limitation and their reasoning behind each recommended/unrecommended option. I appreciated the respect they showed toward me as part of the process. I am finally enjoying my summers and my home is heavenly. My electric bill is less than what I was spending using ceiling fans and cheezy wall units in key rooms that were tolerable at best during normal SD warm days and completely ineffective during heatwaves. I was paying 200-300 and sometimes more and now with the stat set between 70-74 I have paid 150-175.
Description of Work: Installed A/C and later installed attic insulation and roof vents. The installation of the A/C involved electrical work that upgraded my panel.

They came out and looked at the old A/C who went over all of the options for a replacement. The salesman was wonderful. It took a couple of weeks to get the install scheduled. The technicians arrived on time for the installation. I had to stay on top of the technicians and show in the contract to keep him on track but he did complete all of the items within the contract. In the end, I’m very happy with the service and the A/C is working great.

Jason from Airmaxx arrived early and was very professional and friendly. He went to work right away assessing and diagnosing the problem, which turned out to be, primarily, electrical. He was able to replace and relocate a burnt breaker with a new one and advised us on consulting a professional electrician to further assess and accurately diagnose the origin of our problem affecting the air conditioning breaker. He also added 3 pounds of refrigerant to our old A/C unit which we had not serviced in the seven years since living in our house. He also advised us on the fact that we would probably want to start saving for a new A/C unit which could cost us anywhere between $4800 and $6200. We further liked the fact that he explained everything very well as he went along and before making any repairs. He also knew what was within his scope of practice and advised us accordingly on where to seek help for issues that were outside his area of expertise. He spoke in terms that we could understand and told us how to explain the remaining problem as we search for a prospective electrician. Overall, the job was well done and the service was excellent. The only thing that we were unsure of was the price compared to what another provider might have been able to deliver, as we are not experts in this area. However, when it is 87 degrees in your house in the middle of the night when you are trying to sleep and all of your windows that you can safely leave open are just not cutting it, the value of having A/C again is priceless.

Airmaxx did a very good, budget-level installation. Speaking with the company, they tout efficiency as their biggest selling point, and that's exactly what it felt like. They came in, moved quickly and got the job done in under half a day. That said, the job felt like it was done quickly. The plenum was attached to the furnace using tape, which is quick and easy to install, but does not perform as well as mastic. The gas pipe work they installed appears functional (I haven't been able to test my furnace yet), but is kind of a mess. When installing the new thermostat, they left screws on the carpet, which were discovered shortly after by my one year old. Overall, I was looking to get my furnace replaced quickly and cheaply, and that is what AirMaxx delivered. However, if you're looking for a top of the line installation, and don't mind paying for it, you should look elsewhere.

Called three companies to see if I could get a quote over the phone. Airmaxx was the only one that called me back. I did have two other quotes from two companies who did come to my house and gave me an estimate but I had a not so good feeling about them. Alex (the owner) told me the cost and told me it would be a bid deal to fix it (the other guys made it much more of a big problem). Told him I need to talk to my husband about it and would get back to him. He gave me his cell # to get back to him. I called back a couple days later and he remembered me. And this is the crazy part he had Gene out within 30 minutes who fixed the leak and replace the Freon. Gene was a nice guy and seemed like he knew what he was talking about (much better than the other guys). And I got $30 off because of the Angies List coupon. Overall a good experience.

I was very pleased with the service and process. I had multiple quotes from other vendors and they always attempted to sell me more than I needed. Alex was very open and honest about what would be best for my situation. I had been researching furnace/AC units and even asked about some of the higher end models to better understand some of the features. He told me the added expense for more expensive models AirMaxx offered were not necessary in my situation. The installer crew was very professional, friendly, tested the equipment and cleaned up when they were done. I was very pleased with the overall experience.

They were horrible. I needed a tuneup done. The home is a vacant home and the owners were going to come back to it to stay there for a little bit and they asked me to have an air conditioning company and come through and do a tuneup on it just to make sure that the units were working and functioning properly so that they could run their air conditioning without worry. There are two units so when I called, I said to them that they need to make sure that both units are working properly. So they came out to do a tuneup. The first time they came out, they only just gave me a bid. He said to me that I do need a freon charge. I thought their pricing was a little high for the freon charge. All in all it was pretty expensive. I had him come back out a second time to do the work once I had the approval. I had a lock box code and he used the lock box to enter. When he is all done, he called me which I thought was really great. He said to me I am all done and I completed the work. He said everything is working great. So then I didn't go back to check to see how the air conditioning was working personally until weeks later. Unfortunately, no one was in the house during that whole time either and he left the air conditioning on. This ended up making major damage to this house. He left the air conditioning running the entire time and there was a problem up above where the coil is. He never went up into that area to check those portions of the unit. There was usually a secondary pan underneath the evaporator coils and in this home, there wasn't. It was leaking and because it was a rusted out pan, it just leaked all through the ceiling. And because it was running, the water was leaking for all those weeks. When I came over, the house was freezing cold and I immediately heard the air conditioning unit on. I went into the bathroom which was underneath this equipment and the entire ceiling, the insulation and everything had dropped down. The floor was soaked wet. It was a huge mess and it was so terrible. They had to rip out so much stuff in this house and they had to put drying equipment in there. Because it has been dripping for so long of time, mold had grown in there too. Through all of this, I communicated with the owner of Airmaxx and not one time did he accept responsibility for this. Although, I have a lock box code that shows that they entered. And, not only this, every time that I have called, he always wanted to give some other reason why it could have possibly happened. He even said to me these words: "Possibly, my tech didn't even go inside". He said that there is some way that they could have triggered it from the exterior. He went from making all these excuses until he finally got to the point where he said to me that he didn't even go inside. He is just a liar. He didn't want anything to do with it. So, we ended up filing a huge claims with our insurance company. The cost of everything was like $30,000 for something that was so miniscule because it was total negligence on this company's part. It was bad enough that they did that. Not only that, they didn't even send anyone out right away because I told them to come out to see for themselves what is going on. When the tech came back out, it was like a day and a half after I had found it. They didn't even make it a huge priority, which was another annoyance because at that time I was freaking out. The tech said to me that it was a rusted out evaporator coil that was up there. I said why didn't he check that area and he said that it is not a part of a normal tuneup. If the owner of that company had just been sincere to me and apologetic, I can understand. But, to completely outright lie. I will never ever work with them again.

The technician seemed to be a nice person. However, after examining the thermostat and going into the crawl space to examine the furnace, he misdiagnosed the situation. He indicated that there was a significant problem with the furnace, which would have led to a relatively expensive repair. Luckily, I had a someone from another company come out to look at the problem. Had I not had that second estimate, I would have spent far too much, and would have had something replaced that was not broken. I do not suspect malfeasance; most likely the technician simply made an error.

We had had another company come first who had said we needed a new thermostat, then they said we had a defective thermostat. When it still was not working, we were told that we needed $750 worth of repairs. Our neighbor told us they used Airmaxx, so we called him and they told us we did not need that $750 repair and that even if we did, the repair would just be $350. All he needed to do was change the circuit board for $450. So far the heater works great.

I had been considering converting my house to forced air heating over several years. After receiving bids from all of the big name contractors in 2011, I contacted Airmaxx this year for another estimate. Alex Gold provided the estimate. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and recommended the best solution for my needs. Airmaxx was notably lower in price, and by providing an attic installation, saved me the expense of building a furnace closet. Based on their good reviews on Angie's List, the installation was completed a few days later. The crew was tidy, and very efficient. They actually brought in extra people that afternoon, and completed the installation in one day! The old wall heaters were removed and hauled away. Everything works great. My thanks to the crew at Airmaxx for keeping the house warm during these cold winter nights.

I called Air Maxx to have someone come out to give me an estimate for a new wall furnace. The wall furnace I had was very old and a new one needed to be installed. I was scared to use the old one,it was that old.Alex Glozman came out to my home to give me the estimate. My appointment was at a certain time, but Alex was in the area so he called me and asked me if he could come alittle earlier.I said sure so he came right away.He spent alot of time explaining the installation, the cost, and the type of furnace I needed.I selected a Williams brand.I went with this company to install the new furnace because I felt very comfortable they were going to do the job right, and they did. What really impressed and convinced me to go with this company was the fact they were going to get permits to do the job.I had no idea permits are required to install a furnace.Alex was up front, and honest about the permits.I appreciated his honesty. On the installation day of the furnace, everything thing went smoothly. Two men arrived on time and got right to work installing it.Great teamwork these two men had in working together.I am sorry I didn't get there names. The new wall furnace fit perfectly once the old one was removed.I am so glad they did not have to tear into the wall to make it fit. After they were done one of the men explained how to operate the new furnace. They hauled the old furnace away and my house was left tidy.Airmaxx was my only estimate I got to do the job.I feel the price was fair and the inspection on the furnace went great .The inspector found no problems and everything was done to code when the inspection was done.Great job, and I have peace of mind knowing the furnace was installed correctly.I will use them again in the future, if the.need arises. Thanks again Airmaxx!
Description of Work: Removed old wall furnace and replaced with new wall furnace.Installed new vent piping thru the attic to outside of roof to bring it up to code.Hauled old furnace away.

It was a fantastic experience, only spoiled by my Goggling the Rheem part number and found it on the internet for less than $40.00. After calling for an estimate, the lady in the office said I would get a call from a technician who could give me an estimate within an hour & she would be able to schedule an appointment for Monday morning if I wanted. In about 10 minutes Alex called me back, gave me an estimate $100.00 less than the one I had from Reliable, and when I said OK & I would call the office to schedule, he said he was in the area & could be at my home in about 15 minutes. 15 minutes later he arrived and 30 minutes later I had heat! I guess it is lite the old joke: Receiving a bill for $100.00 from the plumber, the homeowner said, " $100! It only took you 10 minutes and you just replaced a washer! " The plumber itemized the bill: " one washer -- $0.01 + labor -- gratis + knowing which washer & where -- $99.99 "
Description of Work: Heat would not go on --- igniter had failed

Thanks for the review, and your candidness on the price of the part. Your joke was funny too. Of course we are providing a home service and there is a charge for that, as opposed to just buying online and doing yourself. It is great to hear that you pointed out we were still the best price between the contractors you looked at - that is what we strive for - that, and your happiness with our work! Cheers!
