Conklin Bros Carpet and Floor Coverings

We shopped around and found the flooring that we liked. The representative (very nice gentlemen) came out and measured the area and provided the estimate. The vinyl had to be ordered since none was available and Armstrong had to manufacture (in Georgia). This would take 30 days but we were willing to wait. There was no additional charge for this. Approximately 3 weeks after ordering, we were called and set an appointment. The installers arrived on time and within 4 to 5 hours, the work was completed beautifully.

Bruce, our sales person, was very helpful in showing us various options and relating them to cost. We found carpet and padding that looks great and fit our budget. The visit to our home for measurement was timely and convenient for us. Installers were on time and conscientious. Overall a good experience.

The customer service is excellent. They've done a really good job in that we've had things stages. We are trying to put in some shutters. They were kind enough to say when you are done, let me know. They are actually storing our purchase until we are ready for it and they had no problem doing it. They actually had a very good price. They were actually one of the few companies that had a good price and they don't charge you for installing the carpet. They have all the brands that you would expect and they are all very good brands. We had the sales person out and the very next day we were in the show room. We were told it would be a couple three weeks and they were right on the money in terms of when they got the carpet in. Unfortunately, again, we weren't ready for them. They did a very good job of estimating when we would get the carpet, they were right on the money.

Tom was wonderful to work with. His communication was great whether it was by text or phone. Inically we wanted to get it done within 72 hours and they were willing to work with us. They were able to assist 7 to 10 days later. He was always helpful & accommodating until we were able to settle on a date. The price was great.

It worked out great. The ranking on Angies List were pretty good and it was nice and close to home too. They were excellent. It ended up taking them longer than they thought and they were still able to finish it in one day. They pulled in another person to help out and it worked out great.

The quality of their work was excellent. They are a bit pricey but I am not complaining because the quality of their work is really good. They gave us a lifetime warranty on the installation. We were satisfied and we have recommended them to our relatives and people we know.

The company was good. The finished work was excellent. The guy was very patient with us. We have oak floor throughout the floor part of the stairs and we were thinking we were gonna use in the upstairs hallway and he said, and ldquo;Consider just carpeting the whole thing, it would cost a lot less and I think you'll like it just as well. If you don't, you can always take the carpet off and put in the wood later if that's really what you want to do.and rdquo; I think we made a good choice just to do what he said. We probably saved a couple thousand dollars. I think it's the right thing to do, I think it looks good. I have no complaints with them. I think the price was reasonable. The quality of the product was great. He called back a couple of times just to make sure that we were satisfied with everything.

They were good. It was excellent. I'm very happy with them. The guy who came out, Ray, was very helpful, very friendly, and entertaining. He played the guitar for us while he was here. The price was reasonable.

One guy did the repairs and it took him about an hour. They did a good job, but I felt the price was a little high.

Very prompt and efficient. Provided many choices of products and clear contract of services. Met the scheduled time for the installation. Crews sent to install were polite, courteous and very professional. Paul is who I did business with and he was super at keeping me informed with shipment issues and all levels of communication throughout the job sequence. Highly recommend these folks.

We liked that Conklin Bros offered to bring samples to our house. We both worked full-time so this was a great feature. We completed a form on their website and told them what type of carpet we were looking for. Rene came out on her first visit and brought out samples. She also suggested we visit their showroom in Fremont. I went to the showroom, but it was a bit overwhelming -- too many choices. I was shown samples that Rene had chosen after her first visit with us. They were all great choices and we ended up choosing 2 different Karastan carpets: Pozzalo an Maratea. It was a bit expensive, but we wanted to be happy with our choices so we stuck to what we liked instead of choosing a cheaper brand/color.

Paul of Conklin Brothers in San Mateo quoted us for installation of wool carpet in two bedrooms. Paul knows his business and was very professional, taking time to explain our options without any sales pressure. We showed him a floor squeak and an unlevel area that, if possible, we wanted to fix when our new carpet was installed. He had a lot of confidence in his installation crew, but said he could not guarantee the results of the repair. Our new wool carpet was not cheap, but we believe the price was fair. And Jose and crew did fix the noisy floorboard. The carpet looks great. We would recommend Conklin Bros of San Mateo.

Everything went very smoothly. They weren't messy, they were professional and they did what they were supposed to do. Tom was very professional, knowledgeable and came out to our home to see what they would be doing. This was definitely the best experience I have ever had with anyone working in my home.

We decided not to do what he quoted us on. It was just the matter of the price, but he was amazing and I wish I could've taken it. I liked his knowledge, his enthusiasm, and the way he explained things. These guys have been doing this for years and you could tell. They have a huge showroom and it was just an amazing experience with this man. They are a bit pricey, but probably not out of the ordinary. I think it all depends on your own pocketbook. We wanted to have tiles, but we decided to put own a very hard linoleum which was a lot cheaper. We are retired now, so we're on a fixed income and we kind of have to watch our pocketbook. Our decision had nothing to do with this guy, but the stuff that they showed us, the variety, and the different options they gave was great. I would like to use them in the future maybe for a smaller space.

The installer (Jason) showed up on time. He went over what he was going to do. Since this was a 2 day job he explained what he would accomplish on the first day and the next day. He then immediately went to work. Jason was a pleasure to work with. He did an excellent job - took his time to do it right. When he came to a spot where there were options on the way the tile could be laid out, he always stopped and explained the situation and asked me what I preferred. He also cleaned up the job site at the end of each day. Earlier when meeting with Renee to go over the details of the job I mentioned I wanted the T-molding that would cover the transition of the tiles to the hardwood floor. I thought it would be great if it could match the color and finish. So, Renee took a small remnant I had left over of the hardwood floor as a sample. I have to say I was really impressed with the T-molding, as they matched it absolutely perfectly.

The store visit was very pleasant and promising. We were able to look at several laminate options and someone out to measure on the same day. We received the estimate in a lump sum number. When we inquired if we could have a breakdown in terms of the labor versus materials, we were told "We are a lump sum company. Our installers charge different square foot prices." This seemed to contradict the salesperson's pitch that we were getting a trusted installers they've had for many years. Granted a big store needs a pool of installers, but it would make me feel better as a consumer that Conklin could get them to agree on standard pricing for all their customers. When we pressed further, we were given the breakdown of labor versus materials but little else, type of pad we were getting, etc. Since we were doing stairs it was difficult to assess how much they were going to charge us for the bullnose, strips etc. In the end we did not go with them because we could not tell what we were paying for.

I appreciated that the sales people spent time with me explaining the pros and cons of different carpets. They diid not try to push me to buy a more expensive carpet, but genuinely tried to help me locate the carpet that met my needs. I was also "educated" on how to care for a carpet to preserve its life. I purchased the carpet whenI was told the carpet could be installed within a few days -- an important issue for me. Everything went smoothly and as promised -- the installers arrived on time, executed the work quickly and carefully, were clean (hauled away the old carpet). Altogether, the company made the carpet purchase/installation a pleasant experience. I was very pleased.

The salesman was very helpful and patient while we selected the carpet. The selection in the store was large, although the samples probably could have been arranged in a more logical and user-friendly manner. The installation crew was top-notch. The job seemed to take much longer than the salesman had expected, but the installation crew stayed until late at night to finish the job. They even took the time to install some of the old carpeting in storage areas (at no additional charge). The finished carpeting looks great.

They did a great job. They were very good. Their products were good and they installed it well. So that was all fine. I spent around $600 for one house and may be the same for another one too. The particular office from where I bought the carpets has been closed, but I really liked the gentleman who used to run that office. It was in Fremont. He recommended good stuff and he had good rates. I loved it and it went well. I would have used their services again if they hadn’t closed.

Tom at Conklin Bros was very professional and accommodating. I came into the store on a Thursday, e came in to measure on a Saturday morning, and the installation was completed the next week. Installers worked quickly and did an excellent job. Very good customer service and responsiveness. I think their pricing is a bit high compared to other smaller companies. Admittedly, it is very difficult to compare carpet qualities because, while they use similar manufacturers, each retailer has their own name for the different lines.

They were very good and very professional. They did everything in one day. Their work wasn’t cheap, but the quality was good.

I liked their work. They came when they said they would come. There was a problem with one work but they corrected it which is important. I didn't have any problems with them. The kitchen floor that they did was not smooth, but they came back and did that. They cleaned the mess which they had done. The price was high.

We had two different crews come out and both of them were excellent. They fixed the problem that had been done previously and both of them were very helpful, very nice and professional. They did an excellent job. They were expensive.
