Sebastians Appliance Repair

I have a one-year-old Samsung refrigerator-freezer with French doors on top and a large pull-out freezer drawer on the bottom. I noticed that freezer was no longer keeping food as cold as it should -- the problem seemed to be that the freezer drawer was no longer forming a tight seal. I called Sebastian in the morning and he said he could come check out the problem that same afternoon. He arrived on time, exactly when he said he would. After looking at my freezer, and removing the two large food storage bins, he discovered that the problem was large blocks of ice that had formed in the bottom of the freezer, creating a blockage that prevented the freezer door from closing completely. We removed the blocks of ice and the freezer door was once again able to close properly -- problem solved! I felt that the $145.00 charge ($75 for the service call, plus $70 for labor) was a bit steep for a service call that lasted only 20 minutes and required no tools or specialized repairs, but on the other hand, I have to say that Sebastian was highly responsive, prompt, and professional, and there is no question that he did solve the problem!

Came promptly at the appointment time. Determined that a part needed to be ordered. Collected $75 from us for the service call. Called the very next day and said he had the part and could he come to install it. (This was a Saturday). Again, he was prompt and efficient. He was very courteous and personable.(engaged in conversation with our 7-year-old grandson about the RC car he was playing with). Final bill was $209 and he deducted the $75 we paid him the day before. I would definitely recommend this company and will call them in the future if necessary.

Late Thursday afternoon I called Sebastian's Appliance Repair to make an appointment to have our refrigerator door repaired. To my surprise Sebastian answered the phone and scheduled an appointment for the following morning @ 8:30. Even more to my surprise he showed up and arrived on time. Sebastian's very professional; he arrived wearing a clean uniform with his name embroidered on it and with tool bag in hand. When he came into the kitchen he asked what seemed to be the trouble we were experiencing. We showed him how the refrigerator door didn't easily close all the way, then we show him how the freezer door did close properly. After opening and closing both doors a couple of times he loosened the hinge on top of the refrigerator door, took the door off, located the part needing to be replaced, made note of it, put the door back on and retightened the hinge. At the same time he also located and made note of the refrigerator model number. He said he'd order the part and would return Monday or Tuesday to install it.. Sebastian called Tuesday afternoon stating he had the part and if we would be home he'd be by in about 10 minutes to install it. Basically he went through the same steps as Friday except this time we needed to clear out all the items from the inside of the door. I think It took us longer to remove the items from inside the door, clean the door shelving and put everything back, than it did for him to remove the door, change the part and reinstall the door. He was fast ,neat, cleaned up after himself and very professional. After having Sebastian repair our refrigerator its given us faith that there are still some people that care about the quality of their work and the reputation of their business. If we should need any other appliances repaired we'd call Sebastian's Appliance Repair in a heart beat.

He's very polite, he's quick to diagnose the problem and easy to talk to in terms of how to go about solving the problem. He's very fast and efficient.

Sebastian did a thorough check and cleaning where needed. In view of the cost of repair, we decided to use this unit as a backup in the garage and get a new refrigerator-freezer unit for the kitchen when we can put the money together. Only charge was for the service call, $75.00.

He arrived on time. He inspected the washer and stated that it was not level (not surprising since we recently moved). He leveled the washer and it works fine now. We feel the price was a little high considering the nature of the repair and also since we had clearly indicated to him that we got his name through Angie's List. The second issue was that he spoke with a heavy accent. I wear a hearing aid but even at max volume I couldn't understand most of what he said. My wife also had difficulty understanding what he was saying. I wouldn't recommend him for hearing impaired English only speaking customers.

He said he could fix it but it would take a week to get the part since it was an old machine. He said I could get a nice new washer and was honest with me that the unit wasn't worth fixing. I appreciated his honesty and that he didn't try to get me to repair it in order to get a sale.

I and my wife decided to call Sebastian based on the glowing reviews on Angie's List. However I have very mixed feelings about Sebastian's Appliance Repair. Sebastian came at 9:30am the same day that we called him, and we are grateful for it. He diagnosed our fridge (the evaporative fan motor was broken) and after calling some appliance part store, gave us an estimate of what it would cost to repair it: ~ $280 ($125 for the fan motor + $145 to replace it + tax). We agreed to that price and asked him to proceed with the repair. He acquired the part and then came back to our house in the late afternoon. The repair went smoothly and I was pleased with the outcome, the fridge worked again. Unfortunately, his great service was marred by his bait and switch tactic on the price. After he finished the repair, he presented me with a final invoice for $334 ($166 part, $155 labor, $13 tax), very different from the agreed-on estimate of $280. I had no chance to intervene: he came with the part which I thought cost $122, installed it and told me it costs $166. Asking me if the price increase is ok would have been nice, but he didn't! Nothing had substantially changed between giving us the estimate and the final invoice, except that I told him we'd like to use a $25 coupon available from him to Angie's List members. I did ask Sebastian about the variance in the price and he dismissed it saying the part was more expensive than he thought. I did not push the issue further. While I understand that estimates and final charges may vary, the magnitude of the difference is worrisome. To get the initial estimate, Sebastian called the supplier for the part, and got a price from them, which he quoted me. Seven hours later the part price had somehow increased by more than 30%. Even if for some reason this was unavoidable, Sebastian should have told me the part was more expensive before he purchased it, and especially before he put it in my fridge. Because of the bait-and-switch on the price, in spite his great diagnostic and repair skills, I cannot recommend Sebastian to others.

Sebastian was very responsive, had a same-day appt, was prompt, fair, and did a good job. We will definitely call him again next time an appliance goes awry!

Sebastian asked me a series of questions regarding the problem, then proceeded to discuss potential problems. He tested the machine, then took it apart and checked the pump. After establishing that the pump was not the problem, he was able to determine that the electronic control board was the problem. Sebastian recommended purchasing a new machine, since the parts and labor for my machine would constitute 70-80% of the cost for a new machine. Sebastian was very professional, and his work instilled confidence on my final decision.

This repair was handled in a professional manner, and I was satisfied enough to discuss other appliance repairs that were needed. He was extremely helpful and prompt. He followed up as he stated he would and was efficient in doing the work. I would certainly use him again.

After the usual handyman our landlord uses was not able to come out to assess the problem with the washing machine, I called Sebastian's Appliance Repair Thursday evening and he arrived Friday morning, found the problem and got the washing machine running again. We have 3 small kids and the washing machine is one of the most critical appliances in our house! Thank you for a job well done!

I would say that Sebastian was very good, and I would recommend him to friends and neighbors. He didn't repair it, so I don't know about the quality of his repair work, but he left the right type of impression and I would trust him to work on my mom's washer if that says anything.

He arrived on time and was very friendly. He has an accent but I had no problem understanding him. He was fast and thorough. He fixed a fuse and he also cleaned out tons of old lint buildup. I was very pleased and will call him again with any problems I may have. I would also recommend him to friends.

Terribly. On a day when we had no time to spare, when we had specifically arranged child care so we could wait for him, Sebastian failed to show for a confirmed appointment and didn't have the simple courtesy to call us and tell us. He acted unprofessionally and unethically. We would never try to work him again, and we urge everyone else to avoid him. We don't think he should be on Angie's List.

Sebastian was easy to reach; he was punctual, and got straight to work on my clogged washing machine. He diagnosed the problem quickly and did a great job repairing my appliance. I'll definitely use him again.

He was able to come the next day after I called, was right on time and very personable. Upon inspecting our washing machine he discovered quickly that the outer drum that helps contain the water was severely damaged. He offered to repair our machine and provided the estimate but then quickly recommended that we consider buying a new machine which would have been cheaper. He also took the time to provide recommendations on what kind of machine to buy and how to do some of our own easy maintenance to help prevent future issues. We ended up buying a new machine and also discovered exactly where the damage was to our old machine upon removal. I also researched the price of parts and found that Sebastian was right on with his assessment. He is now on my saved list to use in the future for any appliance related issues.

All appeared to go well. Sebastian explained and showed me pretty much what he did. I felt he was honest and will recommend him to friends. While I expected him to arrive in a van or truck with his business advertised on the sides, he came in a personal vehicle. He was very professional and appeared to possess all the tools required to diagnose the problem.

I had to cancel on him the first time -- he was running late and I had a meeting I was going into (I work from home). He was mostly OK with the reschedule for the next day, and arrived on time. He seemed very thorough, and not only fixed the washer, but took the time to explain to me what the problem was and how I could prevent it from happening again. He also made some recommendations for keeping the washer cleaner (I have problems with hard water and sediment, since I'm on a well). Explained how to use bleach and vinegar, and told me not to bother with those washer cleaners, which do the same thing cost more. As noted elsewhere, English is not his primary language, but he took the time to make sure I understood what he had done, showed me what he removed from the washer. And he was very clear on the steps I needed to take to delay the onset of the problem in the future. Very satisfied.

Sebastian answers the phone quickly and arrives promptly. He diagnosed the problem with my Kenmore dryer immediately when he saw what it had done to my clothes. He sold me parts at cost. Was able to figure out my Kitchen Aid dishwasher and fix that too. House calls are priced well below the minimum call from Sears. He knows his stuff and is courteous and reliable. He stands by his work.

Service provider could barely speak English, he and drove up in a regular car not a service van, so I was a bit leary. He took out his small tool box, used all hand tools, not any drills. He stated they have these issues all of the time, when I asked him what it was, he stated he didn't know yet. Then when he said he could fix it, it would be a 50/50 chance it would still leak. There was an add in the pub that stated there was a $25 discount for parts/labor, but when I asked him about the discount, he said that's only when I come back out to do labor, this is only a service call. He asked me to turn off all of the electric, because he needed to plug in his own light, but after I did, he said he can't use it. So I handed him my own flashlight to use.

I called Sebastian on a Monday at 7 AM and he was able to schedule a visit at 10 AM that same morning. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem and provided me with the details and the cost. He needed two parts to fix the problem. The second part did not come until Wednesday. Sebastian was very professional and was able to complete the repair on Wednesday. He was courteous and knowledgeable.

Mr. Sebastian followed through on his agreement and call me the next day with a cost to replace the transmission. He told me that the parts would cost approximately $75.00 with an approximate labor cost of $200 for a replacement cost of approximately $275. After discussing this with my wife, we decided to continue using the washing machine until the transmission goes out, before we make a final decision to either repair the washing machine or replace it.

He was quick to respond and he was thorough in his explanation of why the dryer was not working. He had the parts with him and it was a quick and friendly service. It was also very cost efficient.

I called him and he was there the next day right on schedule. He was here about 2 hours, he saved me about $1,500.00. He was a very pleasant individual to do business with and was very polite. Was going to buy a new one, but he fixed it immediately for under $300.00. Called him one night and he was there the next morning!
