I called a repair service that said it would be a week before they could get to my house. Water was leaking out of the bottom of the refrigerator onto the hardwood floor. So I called Sebastian and he said he'd be out in an hour. He kept his word and spent quite a while looking for the leak and making the repair.
Description of Work: Found the leak in the Maytag refrigerator.

He was very punctual and kept us apprised of the job at each step. The repair was performed at a rental unit we own - out of town - so he was dealing with us as well as our tenants. I was surprised at the cost ($150 for parts and another $150 for labor) for an almost brand-new refrigerator - one year old - but pleased with his profressionalism
Description of Work: Sebastian came out and diagnosed the problem (refrigerator evaporating fan) and ordered parts which he installed the following day.

6/4/13 He determined that the computer boards were bad on both appliances. The Amana refrigerator has 2 computer boards, a high voltage and a low voltage; one is still available, but the other is no longer being manufactured, and that one regulates the defrost cycle. 6/11/13 Because we were trying to find options for not having to replace the refrigerator ($$$$), we called Sebastian back to check thoroughly the refrigerator to make sure components besides the computer board were OK. They were. So, we ultimately decided that, for now, we would manually defrost the refrigerator whenever the alarm goes off (every 1-2 weeks) since the refrigerator works well otherwise. 6/4/13 The Kitchen Aid oven computer board is still being manufactured, but was back-ordered. 7/9/13 Sebastian came with the new computer board, installed it, and---nothing. In checking it carefully, we discovered that it was defective--3 contact points were not soldered properly. He returned it. (The computer board price was $396 + tax). 7/18/13 Sebastian came with the computer board, installed it, and it worked! Sebastian was extremely prompt in coming and answering our calls. He is professional, patient and helpful.
Description of Work: 6/4/13 Called Sebastian to come--our built-in Amana refrigerator was heating and the alarm was going off. Also our Kitchen Aid wall oven had totally shut down. Both appliances are 13 years old, and were installed when the house was built.

Rangel Sebastian showed up on time, and was completely professional, quick and personable in repairing our oven. A switch had gone out in our 10 yr. old oven. Mr. Sebastian gave my husband a diagnosis, repaired the oven which involved pulling the stove / oven away from the wall and repaired it, and was finished in about 45 min. We received a detailed invoice which is helpful - has the model / serial number right on the invoice. It also lists his cell phone number and contractor's license no. which tells me that he's very businesslike and professional. He gave us the Angie's List discount and advice on how to clean the model of our gas cooktop , which sometimes fails to re-light after cleaning. We'd use Sebastian's Appliance Repair for any appliance repair!

Sebastian and his assistant (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) arrived exactly when he said they would. They were very nice, friendly and professional. The thermostat going out on the Whirlpool built-in ovens after using a self-clean is apparently a very common problem and he already had the part with him as I had explained the problem on the phone. After quickly removing the oven from the cabinet, they tested the old thermostat, discovered it was indeed dead, replaced it with the new part (testing it to make sure it was a good replacement), re-installed the oven in the cabinet and then tested the oven to make sure it heated. Everything was done quickly and efficiently and they were gone in less than 30 minutes. I will most definitely call Sebastian again if I need another large appliance repair as he is awesome.
Description of Work: Our Whirlpool built-in oven stopped heating after using the self-clean function. Sebastian removed the oven from the wall, tested the old thermostat, confirmed it was dead and replaced with a new thermostat. He tested the oven after replacing the part and all was good.

The initial visit was to service our kitchen fridge, garage fridge, wine fridge, and outdoor kitchen fridge. Sebastian noticed frost in our kitchen fridge freezer and told us he would come back to repair the problem the following week. He cleaned the coils and checked the garage fridge and saw no problems with that one. He wasn't able to pull out the wine fridge to check it since the counter was built over it in such a way that the fridge is boxed in. He looked at the outdoor fridge and said if there was ever a problem with it, it would be more reasonable to replace it altogether than to repair it. He charged us for service on 3 fridges for a total of $165. We had an appointment for 8:00 on 6/21/13. Sebastian arrived at about 8:45 after calling to say he was running late which we appreciated. The repair and part cost $265.

Our Amana bottom-freezer refrigerator was not defrosting properly, and stopped cooling. We called Sebastian because of his excellent Angie's list reviews. He arrived perhaps an hour after we called, diagnosed the problem, ordered the necessary parts and removed the ice so the refrigerator would cool until he returned to repair it. He returned several days later, exactly when he said he would. He had the appropriate parts and repaired the refrigerator, which is running fine a month later. His charges were exactly what was stated in his estimate, with no additional charges. We were completely satisfied, and if we have a problem with another appliance we'll call Sebastian!

He came as promised (actually 30 mins, early). Took oven out of its built-in place, opened it up and made the diagnosis. He located a part, and went across town to fetch it. He returned, inserted the part. Then he tested both the oven and grill to see that thety worked properly. Finally he put the oven back in -place.

We kept hearing the fridge making a weird noise and the next day when I went into the freezer everything was melting. I looked up appliance repairs on line and came across Sebastian's Appliance Repair and saw that he was on Angie's list. I instantly became a member of Angie's list and saw good review's for Sebastian's Appliance Repair. To my surprise when I called he said he could come out right away. Sebastian came and got to work right away taking a look at the fridge and using his ohm meter. He then informed us that a part was bad but he could get the part and repair it today. He did just that, picked up the part, replaced it, cleaned underneath the front and the back of the fridge. He then returned the fridge where it belong and cleaned up the area. This was by far the best experience that I have ever had with an appliance repair person. I would use Sebastian's Appliance Repair again and would recommend him to friends.

I called Sebastian to diagnose our dishwasher since it just stopped working mid-cycle about a year ago. (Note to others: Don't wait more than 2 weeks to get dishwashers fixed or related leaks repaired -- Sebastian said that the motors must be run that frequently in order to not seize up.) Sebastian came out the same day, was punctual and got to work investigating the dishwasher. Once he explained about motors seizing up, we were pretty sure that we were looking at a replacement, but we were willing to spend the $65 he quoted for the diagnosis time. I don't remember how long he worked on the dishwasher, but it turned out to be the computer, so he and I talked about models to consider for the replacement. We will also need to replace our garbage disposal, so he suggested models for that as well. Since we had this wonderful appliance repair man in our home, I asked him about our fridge's ice dispenser and told him what I had tried for it. He had a few more suggestions with some pretty detailed descriptions. Then I told him about how our dryer was not working as efficiently as it had been. He took a look and determined that the dryer vent was likely clogged up. I told him to proceed with cleaning it and this is related to my "B" grade on price. I failed to ask him (and he didn't offer) before he started how much he would charge for this. Once he was done, I was quite surprised by the cost (which I think was around $140), as I have never had this done before and had no idea of the cost. That being said... Sebastian was responsive, helpful (with the advice), and agreeable to adding on tasks! We will have him back and I have recommended him to friends.

When I got home one day after putting in a load of laundry that morning, I discovered that my washer had "walked" about a foot forward, turned a little bit and when I opened the washer's door, I saw the rubber gasket (door boot) looked both shrunk and seriously wavy. I called around to appliance places and settled on Sebastian's since he works on LG's (most don't), he had good reviews and a good service call fee ($55 applied to time and labor). He came out, exactly on time the next day. He determined that I needed a new door boot, and called in for the part. (LG parts can be hard to find/get). He asked if someone could help him remove the dryer at the next visit (it?s a stackable washer and dryer). I figured that I should be able to accommodate that, but it might have been harder for elderly or single people. He also looked at my very old oven and advised me that the thermostat was probably bad, but that it was unlikely that he could find the part, so I didn't pursue it further. I asked for an estimate and he told me it would be about $200 - $300. We made an appointment for 2 days later at a time that was mutually workable, but not convenient for either of us. The day of the appointment, he came at least 30 minutes late, due to some hang up with the part. I?d arranged with a neighbor to help move the dryer, so it was bit problematic. I ended up taking the dryer down with the neighbor myself. When he got here, he spent some time trying to figure out if he?d gotten the correct part. Apparently even for the correct Model # and Serial #, there were still 2 possible parts and he had to make sure that he?d gotten the correct one. Fortunately, he had. He proceeded to take the washer apart- removed the entire exterior front and top of the washer. It was pretty cool seeing the inside! Installing the new door boot took some time and effort. Pieces of the installation required a second set of hands, so I helped several times- fortunately he provided the strength. After he finished installing the door boot, I was questioning why it had gotten so screwed up in 1 load of laundry and he inspected the bad one again, now that it wasn?t installed. He noticed some rubbing which made him believe I?d had an unbalanced load. A bit later, he called me over to show me that the whole washer drum had become unhooked from 1 of its 2 support springs on top and he showed me where the drum had hit the exterior case so hard that it had significantly bent it. He said he?d never seen it come unhooked before. Together, we re-hooked it. I?m grateful that he found that problem, because if he hadn?t, I bet I would have been calling out an appliance repair person again in the near future for another door boot! He only found it because he took the washer front and top off. I had received an estimate from an LG authorized repair company for $220 for the boot replacement, but I don?t know if they would have taken the washer apart and therefore found the more basic problem. I?m glad to have the washer fixed! He also, helped me unclog a small drain again and emptied the disgusting pump drain. I?m happy with Sebastian?s work and would call him again.
Description of Work: Replaced the door boot on my front loading LG washer. Also determined that the washer tub had come unhooked from the suspension support spring on the top, re-hung it and showed me where the washer tub had slammed into the exterior cover of the washer , denting the cover.

I thought it was a computer problem, but he explained it was probably a heater problem and did a thorough check, showed me the obvious source of the problem, fixed that, also recommended another small maintenance project while he had the dryer in pieces. Came very promptly and when promised. Had the whole thing done in under 24 hours. Cost less than I had feared. Nice guy.

It was fine, he worked on my washer well over an hour. He arrived about 45 minutes after I made the service call. I was very pleased with his work and will refer my friends to him.
Description of Work: My washer was gushing water. It is a one year old LG that looks like it has spaceship controls. I was concerned that I might not find a handyman updated on these new fangled washers. Sebastian was familiar with my machine. He checked it out looking for the possible leak and found nothing broken. He determined that it needed to be leveled. The same thing LG told me when I called them and they were going to send an authorized repairman for almost twice the amount Sebastian charged.

Called for washing machine repair. Serviceman arrived about 45 minutes later and immediately diagnosed problem. He then gave a price for repair and asked if I wanted him to continue. I authorized repair and he got right to work. When he had the washer apart he showed me the broken part and then replaced it. The price quoted was $25.00 higher ttan I actually paid. I had an Angie's List coupon for $25.00. Sebastian's also offer's 15% senior discount. I don't think repairs get mch better than this. Elaine

The cost of the part needed to fix the problem was significant and not a good investment for such an old dishwasher, so we discussed with R. Sebastian which dishwashers had the best track records for performance and longevity. His suggestions were excellent. He also followed up with a call to find out if we'd been successful finding a new one.
Description of Work: Dishwasher wasn't working properly - leaving residue on dishes and stains in cups and glasses. R. Sebastian quickly found the problem, remedied the immediate cause, and discussed options on how to remedy the problem altogether.

He checked out the motor and identified a necessary part to replace that he had with him. He tried one, then another but didn't think he fixed the problem. He identified the condensor as the problem and estimated the cost to repair around $500. From my research on the web I knew that it is better to simply replace the whole fridge than pay to fix or replace the condensor. I went out and bought a new one. A few hours later he called to say that he had been doing some research and found something more he could check. We scheduled a time for him to come the next day. That night I went to empty the fridge completely and to my delight found that it was chilling again. Icalled himthe next day to let him know he'd fixed it after all. Two days later it was still working so I cancelled the order for my new fridge.
