Description of Work: Diagnosed blockage in the dryer fan, removed blockage, and re-assembled returning it to a working machine. The only downside was that it seemed a bit pricey for a 20 minute repair.

Description of Work: Our Maytag Neptune dryer started to make an alarming groaning noise when we turned it on and it began revolving. The noise was so disturbing that we didn't dare use the machine until it was repaired. We felt certain that an expensive repair was forthcoming, but we needed to have someone come out right away. Finding such a repair person proved very difficult. We live in the small coastal town of Montara, California, and at first we found it impossible to find anyone with the necessary expertise who was willing to make the trip out to our isolated location any time soon--if at all. Then we found Primer Appliance Service of Daily City, CA., through Angie's List. The Primer repairman agreed to come out that very evening at 6:00 pm, and he arrived right on time. When he opened the dryer up, he immediately saw what the problem was: The venting pipe had been improperly installed, causing moisture and lint to vent into the workings of the machine itself. This corroded the roller drums, which caused the groaning sound we'd heard. The improper venting also made the interior of the machine filthy. To our surprise and delight, the Primer repairman had all the necessary parts to make the required repairs and fully clean out the machine in his truck. In less than an hour, our dryer was clean and fully repaired, with new roller drums and a new roller shaft (with 90 day guarantee on parts and labor.). He then cleaned up the repair area, and removed the defective roller drums and roller shaft. The machine has operated perfectly since. The Primer repairman, the company's owner, could not have been more knowledgeable, efficient or polite. I cannot think of any way in which his performance could have been better. It was perfect. And the bill was quite a relief! We were charged only $176.42 for this major repair: $52 for parts; $60 for labor; and $60 as the standard service call charge, despite the fact the repairman came from Daily City to remote Montara at night on the same day as our call. I have read stories online about Maytag owners being hit with outrageous repair charges--charges that would make an owner consider simply buying a new machine. And such repairs were often ineffective as well. We felt so lucky to have found Primer! We couldn't have asked for more. Primer is an excellent appliance repair company in every respect. A+ all the way!

Description of Work: Called Primer Appliance to fix a gas dryer that was not heating hot enough to properly dry clothes. The dryer was moved from one house to another that previously didn't have a gas line to the laundry room. The repairman who answered was very friendly, knowledgable, willing to work with me before coming to the house. Based on my explanation to him, he felt I should try a few things to see if the exhaust pipe was clogged because he said he does not unclogged dryer exhaust pipes. And furthermore, if he did come out there would be a flat charge even if the appliance had nothing wrong with it. He carefully explained a couple experiments to do and explained the experiment's purpose.

Description of Work: Came out and diagnosed a problem with our refrigerator -- determined that our compressor was shot.
