Description of Work: I'm hoping that my review helps out others in the area who are shopping for a kitchen counter replacement. The options can be confusing. It's also highly important where you're intake is done: First point: NOT ALL HOME DEPOTS ARE THE SAME. I stress that you can get VASTLY different experiences with each store. I wasn't aware of there isn't any consistency between locations. The El Cerrito Home Depot used to be my "go-to" store. Thus, I thought they were ALL like that one. WRONG. Based on feedback from a Home Depot employee, I learned that there are two TYPES of stores: one geared towards contractors and another towards the home owner/do it yourselfer. If you want to deal with messy stores where you aren't the priority as a home owner, go to places like the El Cerrito location. If you'd like personal attention in a CLEAN environment--venture out to Hercules, CA. Yes, Hercules. I never even knew that there WAS a Home Depot there... We had our first counter shopping experience at the El Cerrito Home Depot. A very nice man basically got us to agree to buy the Staron package we were looking at. Then everything went down hill from there. The main problem was that he was in training and wasn't exactly sure how to write everything up. He didn't have anyone supervising his process and thus things went awry. We were quoted for one price, but then after Duracite came out to measure our kitchen, the price went up by hundreds of dollars due to the incorrect initial quote. I completely blame his supervisors and department at Home Depot!!! The final order was looked over by a guy who clearly just wanted to go home for the day. When we called the El Cerrito store about this problem with pricing, they couldn't care less! Paul from kitchen design was rude to my partner and basically wanted to cancel the order asap. There wasn't ANY negotiation going on. When the call got kicked up to Chad, things didn't get any better. It was like they just wanted to make the matter go away. I kept stressing that they really shouldn't want to lose a customer. They didn't care at the El Cerrito store and now they have lost a customer for life. The bigger issue of still needing a kitchen counter loomed and we shopped around. We ended up at the Hercules Home Depot while shopping for yet another item that we needed to make our new home livable. We wandered into their kitchen design area and ended up speaking with John. John was professional, knowledgeable and couldn't have been more helpful. He discussed our options and got use a new quote within a few minutes. He had even created his own spreadsheet to show costs. We came back a few hours later and got back on board for a new counter top. The install was yesterday and the experience with Duracite was outstanding. Basically if you go with any of the big box stores in the area for counter installs, Duracite will be the vendor you deal with after the initial quote. The installer was on time, professional, AND HE EVEN SMELLED GOOD!!!!! He was nice to speak and had a lot of information to share about our new product. He was clearly experienced in his craft and I was completely at ease with having him in my home. Home Depot came out during the install to make sure everything was going as planned. The long and the short of it is that if you are trying to work within a budget, places like Home Depot can't be beat. Their volume purchasing power makes it so that you really can't get a better deal elsewhere. Trust me--we tried. Home Depot will also continue to work with you until you are satisfied with your installation. Just be sure that your intake is done at the "right" store and you will most likely have a better experience from the get-go than we did.

Description of Work: I bought a new refrigerator. It was a discontinued model, so I got it at about 40% off the normal asking price. They delivered ontime, the delivery people were very organized and professional. They carried the large heavy refrigerator up a flight of stairs, assembled it completely, tested to make sure everything was working correctly. Then they hauled away the old refrigerator at no additional cost to me. They also gave me an extended warranty for three years, for the one year cost. So I am very pleased with their delivery service, as well as the deal I got on the purchase of this item. It is a very nice stainless steel, French door, double freezer drawer unit with in-door ice and water dispenserr.

Description of Work: Home Depot refaced my cabinets and installed a new kitchen counter top.

Description of Work: We used the services of The Home Depot when we had our kitchen remodeled around August of last year. They put in new stilestone countertops and they refreshed all the wood around the windows. They put in a new sink and built some new cabinets for a particular place where we needed the cabinets done. Then they refaced all the cabinets that weren't replaced or built.
