Avoid!! TL; DR – Completely dishonest, sketchy and non-consumer minded company. Would rather sue me out of $5,000 than to try to get things right in the first place. Without going in to too many details about the installation that won’t be relevant to anyone else, I’ll summarize what happened. We had a known leaky window. Sent in inquiry to GSW, noting that we had a known leak. They looked at the windows, and sold me retrofit windows. Many times I asked about the potential damage to the window frame, and if that’s something that we should consider first, and he told me he didn’t think it was a problem. Well, it was a problem. When they came to install the windows, they discovered damage to the frame, and refused to install the windows (3 of the windows they didn’t even attempt to remove or install). We desperately wanted windows (and for the leaking to stop), so we continued to work with them to attempt to solve the problem. Gary was very vague in describing the work for the proposed revised project. He sent me a bid that was so vague, I had a litany of questions to ask, and he was evasive in answering the questions. He eventually sent a ridiculous bid, which we rejected, and asked for our deposit back. He contacted us and had a very lengthy conversation on how to resolve the situation. At the end of the call, he told us to wait to talk to his “supervisor” regarding the situation. That same day he ran to the courthouse to sue US for breaching the contract. Fact is, he had breached the contract by not installing the windows in the given timeline, and his underhanded actions to tell us to wait so he could beat us to court were unethical, at best. On his court filing he lied and said that he had sent as an informal demand for the money (he didn’t). In court, he continued to lie about conversations that never happened. He also claimed that the windows he ordered were sufficient for the new scope of the job, which is easy to answer with an internet search. No, new construction windows ARE different than retrofit windows. But, he lied about that too (go ahead and Google it). While I’m on the topic of lies, Gary in his sales pitch claimed that he was a salesperson, and that “management” of the company has this or that rule. Fact is, you look up the incorporation documents of the company, and the license they operate on, and it is Gary’s company. The court initially ruled in his favor due to the lies and inflammatory things Gary said on the stand. Gary e-mailed me immediately claiming that he wanted to “do right” by me (pro tip, suing your customer when they are still trying to work things out isn’t the way to do that). I told him to just give me the windows, and I would pay the remainder on the contract and court fees. I sent him a check in full, and he refused to furnish the windows to me without waiving all future legal rights. Ridiculous. We appealed the case, and ended up in court again. I don’t know the results of the appeal yet, but it doesn’t matter in terms of Gary’s disregard for his customers. Avoid this contractor at ALL costs. Whatever discount he claims to be offering you isn’t anywhere close to the 6-month headache and financial loss I’ve had dealing with this company.
