Design Detail

Description of Work: I paid by the hour and the amount listed above reflects a portion of the work below. Shelley came out to meet with me multiple times and I don't have a total as I didn't track it as if it were one project. I have worked with Shelley Patterson of Design Detail a number of times now. First, she helped me decorate my condo (my first experience with home-ownership). She helped select colors for the walls, added sconces, and advised me about how to arrange furniture, which rug to buy etc. I loved the end product and so have my friends. That was about 8 years ago. Since then, I moved and most recently Shelley has helped me pick new sofas for my living room (I Iike looking, so I picked about 6 designs and Shelley helped me select the best one.) She then helped me pick the perfect fabric for the sofas. She helped me think through what kind of rug would work best, and how the room should be arranged. The finished product has transformed the room and we get lots of great comments from friends and family. Then when I decided to paint one or two walls in the den, Shelley was tremendously helpful in selecting colors. Most of us cannot imagine what a tiny swatch will look like when it covers a wall. I wanted a warm color that would set off the artwork I wanted to hang. I really loved the affect. Then my husband suggested we do a second color on another wall and suggested I pick the color. I painted the wall and didn't like it, tried several other test colors but couldn't figure out what would be better. I called Shelley and then repainted the wall with her suggetion and its amazing what a difference just the right color makes. Shelley has also made suggestions about lighting that we are considering now. I know Shelley, who is also an architect, does a fabulous job with kitchens and bathrooms (I've seen the results in friends' homes), so I am hoping that down the line we can use her for one or both of these. I have also asked her about whether it could make sense to do some other small remodel of our house and she's helping me think this through.
